What's with all the hate for Holly Willoughby?

Hi,

I just think it's getting ridiculous now.

I follow her on Instagram and can't believe the amount of nasty comments she gets - Looks old, looks grumpy, looks inappropriate for family TV, with of course the occasional, sarky 'thought you were putting your family first' thrown in there

How dare she post photos of herself looking glamorous, not glamorous enough, too happy, too sad, too smug, look her age, not look her age. And how dare she get on with her life?

I know she's not the only one who recieves this kind of vile misogyny, but I'm genuinely quite surprised how much Holly seems to be targeted now.

Someone was talking about her yesterday and saying they dislike her now because they consider her to be fake over how she treated Philip Schofield. Best mates for years apparently and then dropped him like a hot potato when according to this person PS has done nothing wrong/illegal.

I think a lot of people feel she did know about Schofields behaviour with the runner, and have no time for anyone who turned a blind eye to that and then lied to save herself.

They should just say that though, commenting on her appearance is not acceptable.

I certainly don't 'hate' someone I have never met but I am fed up with the same old faces on tv all the time, you know the line up, Holly, ant & dec, Lorraine , the loose women etc, for heavens sake can we not have some new talent.

As pp, don’t hate her as I don’t know her. I don’t think she’s particularly talented though and there are hundreds of pretty people who could present a TV show. I solve it by barely using Instagram and not watching any of the shows she (and other people I’m not struck on) are on.

I do not dislike Holly and totally agree it is unacceptable to make comments like this about her on public forums. It is bullying which I hate.
I can say though that I do feel that we need a change of faces on TV.

I've never liked Holly at all I wouldn't ever say anything nasty about her but I think the whole Phil Scofield thing made people have a different opinion of her. I think she's been on TV too much for too long too so people might be fed up of her

She lives around the corner from me and I see her quite frequently in the local shops or park. She is very pretty in person so not sure why people are piling on her for her looks.

I’m not impressed by her pallyness with PS, I didn’t like that vibe.
In her early days I thought she was an awful presenter but she’s improved with practice.

I am impressed by her look, and the photos she shared of her looking very ordinary, and how she glams up. I warmed to her.

I'm baffled. She's so innocuous. But I believe folks are bored with her.

I can't believe how Lorraine Kelly keeps going to be honest. But she has a loyal following.

Sadly that's the nature of social media nowadays, good looking, successful people seem to be the target of SM trolls. I don't have a problem with HW but the whole "stunning and brave" public coming out of PS was absolutely sickening. HW et al fawning over him like he was a war hero fresh from the battlefield when in reality it was just self preservation because he knew the whole sordid tale of him and the teenage runner was about to be revealed 😡

I didn't think much of her on this morning. I especially used to hate it when she and Philip would get the giggles and basically turn the programme into their friendship hangout. I didn't think she was particularly good at presenting it either but I wonder if that was because Philip was so dominant and didn't let her have an equal space. (And yes, of course she knew exactly about that unwise but not illegal relationship all along!)

I don't dislike her in general though. I'd be interested to see her present something more suitable than the lighthearted celebrity reality shows. I think she'd be great at fronting a show linked to her wild moon lifestyle stuff.

And I have no tolerance at all for any online trolling of anyone!

All of those long standing presenters are past their sell by date and it’s time some new blood was introduced. She has a reputation for being unpleasant to work with, but I have no idea whether that’s justified.

Some people have decided they don't like her because she "must have known" about PS.

Some people have decided they don't like her because she dropped PS like a hot potato instead of standing by him as a friend.

In essence, she couldn't possibly win, despite having seemingly done nothing wrong whatsoever.

The fact that there are people out there who will decide they "hate" a celebrity based on nothing more than assumption, despite not actually knowing the person, or having insider knowledge of their situation, is something I find equally baffling and terrifying.

The fact that some of those people will then go out of their way to spew their baseless hate on social media is sickening. Probably the same people who were parotting "be kind" not so long ago. How soon we forget.

I don't dislike or like her ( from what I see on tv) but I don't think she comes across as particularly warm. And I think it's the way we are almost brainwashed to like certain people and then they are rammed down our throats at every opportunity. Holly, Ant and Dec, Lorraine Kelly, Ryan etc that people get fed up of.

With some TV presenters I think people just get sick of seeing them. It’s not just Holly, many get flack when they’ve been everywhere. I notice Bradley Walsh getting a lot of criticism lately too

I don't think that you can position yourself as someone's "bestie" and then deny all knowledge of their wrongdoings. Not easily anyway. Their behaviour on screen was often irritating - they forgot that they were there to entertain viewers and not each other!
Theres a public perception that she was happy enough to ignore unpleasant things when it suited her. And the whole PS coming out on tv to much fawning, leaves a bad taste now, for anyone associated with it!
The queuing situation didn't help.

Theres also a perception that itv is too samey and it needs fresh talent.
