Tonight’s meal is sorted but always good to have new ideas.

Vietnamese pork with noodles. A well used recipe. It was delicious.

I had a fake away.

Frozen chicken balls in the air fryer, rice, stirfry veg and home made sweet and sour sauce. Bit of a sunday treat.

On my own tonight as ds and dh at a gig. Had beans on toast with grated cheese on top followed by a Lindt choc bunny as a treat!

Oven pizza, carrot sticks, raw pepper, cucumber and cinnamon popcorn. Really CBA tonight. Kids delighted.

A duck with cabbage, roast potatoes, parsnips and carrors

TheTecknician · 28/01/2024 19:12

Lasagne (shop-bought but a good one) and garlic butter mushrooms which are home-made. Admittedly, I did not grow the mushrooms. I'm making enough so I have some to top a pizza for Monday night's tuck!

We had Jon Watts chicken Alfredo tonight with tagliatelle. Garlic bread on the side and I also added broccoli and mushrooms (health etc etc.)

Sunday evenings are always DH and mine takeaway/fakeaway nights. We dine after the kids are in bed and We really look forward to them! We do 3 Sundays Fakeaways and 1 Sunday takeaway.

Today is a fakeaway Sunday and theme is Lunar New Year. the menu is -

  1. Aromatic duck and pancakes (Gressinghams- we’ve only sliced the spring onions and cucumber)
  2. Tempura prawns (from Tesco freezer!)
  3. Egg fried rice (DH making with microwave rice and eggs)
  4. Beef in black bean sauce (Tesco’s!)

Chicken stir-fry. Strips of chicken breast, shredded cabbage, sliced onion, peppers, mushrooms. Protein noodles. crushed chillies. Soy sauce.

Toad in the Hole, carrots, peas and sweetcorn and onion gravy
Raspberry yoghurt and mini vanilla shortbread biscuits.

I scored the sausage and raspberry yoghurt as part of a Too Good to Go deal last night and both needed using up.

Spanakopita pie, but I threw in any extra green stuff I had along with spinach. So it ended up a combo of spinach, hispi cabbage, grated courgette, and flat leaf parsley. Very tasty!

Took Ds to nandos so chicken pitta. Overpriced I thought the whole meal for what it was.

Mine won't be ready till at least 9pm. Dp has cooked us a cassarole. He's oddly specific on how to cook it, so I just watch with some wine!

If anyone's interested, he puts a bit of braai salt on the diced beef. Fries up red onions, mushrooms and leeks. Makes a beef stock, and then he chucks in carrots, new pots and a bottle of red wine. In the oven for about 3hrs. Served with crusty baguette and proper butter. Getting very hungry, as it smells amazing.

Chilli (Nigella's Express). Yummy!

Slow cooked brisket joint, with amazing gravy. Roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, savoy cabbage with garlic butter, broccoli, stuffing, carrots, and Yorkshires. Was heaven!!

OhSmitty · 28/01/2024 21:03

I was too tired to fix anything much so had Jacket potatoes with tuna mayo, cheese and spring onions. It was amazing. 🤌
