Anyone else believe in the magical properties of this tub of wondrous gloop?

In our family it’s known as a fix all for everything.

Got a spot, mossie bite or limb hanging off?
A bad case of chub rub or sore bottom?
Need to re plaster the hallway?

Sudocrem is your answer!

My DCs laugh at how often I direct them to it, whatever their complaint.
(It’s either sudocrem, or duct tape as a solution in our house 😆)

What other uses are there for this wonder product?

I use it as an overnight face cream once in while- my skin looks great in the morning.

Bridenope · 27/01/2024 07:49

It’s pure magic! You know the scenes in My Big Fat Greek Wedding when the dad claims Windex can fix anything? That’s me with Sudocrem. Cuts, bumps, spots, bums… if it’s red it won’t be for long!

LyndaLaHughes · 27/01/2024 09:32

I do the same with metanium- the yellow one. If you think sudocrem is a miracle worker, it's got nothing on this magical yellow potion!

cornflower21 · 27/01/2024 11:00

When my kids had a chickenpox we tried triads of pricey soothing creams to just end up with our old trusty Sudocream that we always have in our bathroom cabinet since the kids were born.

yep used it since i was a baby and have used on all my kids, teens use it on their acne, baby uses it on his bum and occasionally eats half a tub and smothers it in his hair and all over the house. (just turned 2 hoping he will go off it)

Have a pic here of ds when he was 2 absolutely covered in the stuff. He rubbed it all over the couch too. When I was a toddler I put it all over a new door before it was varnished. You can still see it. I use it here for loads of things. I mentioned it to my gp once and she was horrified, said it’s the devils work. I don’t believe her!😊

Nappy rash. Insect bites. Cuts. Cold sores.

Amazing stuff!

ShortHairedCat · 27/01/2024 11:16

Can you use it on cats?

spacecadette · 27/01/2024 11:32

It is indeed marvellous stuff but have you seen the price of it lately... almost £10 for the big tub??!!

I successfully used it on my dog. He had some kind of allergy and he pulled out all the hair at the base of his tail. Two inches were completely bald and bleeding. I put on a ton of sudocrem and wrapped a bandage round it for a week and it was completely healed when I took it off. It was a miracle.

Yes! Exactly that! Vet said cat has a flea allergy cos he’s licked himself bald. Gave him an anti inflammatory steroid injection and flea drops and he’s improving. The constant washing the area has stopped but still quite bald. Could I put it on the worst of the baldness??

DiligentBanana · 27/01/2024 12:07

My dad thought Metanium was mustard and ate it in a sandwich.😂i dont know how he did that, It smells like fish!

Wait what?

CoupDeTheatre · 27/01/2024 12:49

@ShortHairedCat I would only use it if you can cover the area with a plaster or bandage of some sort otherwise they will lick it and I'm not sure if that would be a good idea.

ShortHairedCat · 27/01/2024 13:36

I’ve done it. He’s now gone out. He’d never keep a plaster or bandage on ☹️ I only put a very small amount on the worst of it. Hope he’s ok 😞

Toddlerteaplease · 27/01/2024 13:42

We aren't allowed to stock it at work anymore. Can't remember the reason why. Vaseline and metanium are no where near as good. I had a teenage patient with a spinal cord injury, who was getting a sore bum. Tried the usual. Didn't do anything. So sent his mum to the shop for some sudocrem. Problem solved with one application.

Moier · 27/01/2024 13:52

No .. myself.. both daughters and four Grandsons are all allergic to it.. we have all tried it.. brings us all out in blisters..
We us ceravee for everything.. .

£10 well spent.

mindutopia · 27/01/2024 14:21

My horse sliced his hoof open a few weeks back and my farrier said to slap some sudocrem on it, and I was like, yes, why didn’t I think of that?!

Well yeah but it'll last for ages.;)

Grapefruitsquash · 27/01/2024 14:52

Our dog has severe gastroenteritis and was hospitalised. When discharged his poor bottom was red raw. When I asked the vet what I could use she said she had a cream but it wasn't cheap, alternatively I could use sudocrem. It was like a miracle cream. The dog stood and let me do it without any protest so it must have felt soothing (I did use disposable gloves) and it healed within days.

Twice a day slathering cream on a dog's bottom - no greater love 🙃

Here:

Doesn't smell like lavender to me! And I hate lavender

Willyoubuymeahouseofgold · 27/01/2024 15:32

The word slather knocks me ill.. Stop

I just bought a new tub, hence the inspiration for this thread.
Very pricey but I shopped around, the big online South American river site had the best price £7.50 for the 400g.

I never knew it’s suppose to smell of lavender though. Now I know, I can detect a very faint whiff but not overpowering, thank goodness!
I am definitely going to try it as a face mask 😊

@TM1979 I missed the pic of your sudocremed baby!
I, too, have pics of mine smothered in the stuff 😂

Vaseline is also a mainstay in this house, I have way too many little blue round tins of it to count.

Dangerous if they lick it off and ingest it though.

43ontherocksporfavor · 27/01/2024 18:42

Same here OP. Had it all through DD’s childhoods. Now they’re 23 and20 and have their own pots for any spots or sore bits.Love the lavender scent.

ClimbThroughJuliet · 27/01/2024 18:44

I do NOT ♥️ sudocrem

I do ♥️ Vaseline.
