Is your year 5/6 child newly obsessed with all things ‘skincare’ ??

My year 6 child is absolutely obsessed, it’s come about in the last month. It’s all she talks about and spends hours on the Sephora website.

Apparently this is a ‘thing’ at the moment in this age group.

Is this the same in your house and where did this come from? Everything she wants is ££££!

Been through all her ‘skincare’ today (there is so much of it! Stuff I didn’t even know relatives or friends got her for birthday and Christmas) and removed items mentioned. Most of it seems fine though actually and I think it will just be about learning how to use them, rather than just putting everything all on at once.

Checked Tiktok out and every other video was: teenage girls mouthing explicit rap lyrics, makeup and skincare, depression/suicide/self harm pages, wildly praising or aggressively piling in on tiktok influencer girls, oversharing, gossip, outfits.

A disturbing feature was the search bar often recommended disturbing videos for e.g. someone being killed, a freak accident, something awful in the news like OMG GUYS🤪! CHECK IT OUT: THREAT OF WAR💣! OMDAYYYZZ NEW PANDEMIC GUYS!😷😱📢🚨⚠️

TikTok is ridiculously addictive and I'd keep a 10 year old away from it for sure. But it pushes whatever you're interested on you. I never see any videos on self harm, or death etc. Mine is 90% fashion, decor, and homeless animals being rescued. With 10% of random nonsense.
