I'll be visiting for the first time this weekend - what do you always get from there? What is good food-wise? Thanks!

Massive tubs of marmite
Loo roll
multi vitamins
skippy peanut butter
Baylis and Harding handwash (triple pack, just to annoy Mumsnetters)
Walkers Crisps
old El Pasa fajita sets

Tiredalwaystired · 23/01/2024 22:12

Oooh and the frozen make your own crispy duck pancake sets. So much cheaper than the takeaway and tastes identical.

idontlikealdi · 23/01/2024 22:20

Just be aware it's not cheaper, and you need space to store whatever you get.

The meat is good quality.

Littleredcorvettepurplerain · 23/01/2024 22:24

The Gyoza, huge scallops and frozen king prawns.

mumda · 23/01/2024 22:25

Dinner rolls.
All their cakes and treats.

Long life milk.
Cooked chicken.

Hummus. Huge tub.

Bog roll and kitchen roll. Mr muscle.

Pesto. Tuna. Tinned tomatoes. Beans. Chick peas.

Rice. Mayonnaise.

They used to have a huge range of chocolate bars but now mars bars and KitKats is about it.

Chewing gum.

Waters are very good value for money, 40 bottles for under £5 Smile

BigFatCat2024 · 23/01/2024 22:30

Boxes of coconut macaroons (always go down well in the office!) meat and fish. We buy loads, cut it up into normal portion sizes and freeze

BigFatCat2024 · 23/01/2024 22:31

Don't bother looking at alcohol, far better deals in Tesco!

Cookerhood · 23/01/2024 22:36

The loo roll has really gone down in quality. I happened to face an old one in a cupboard & it was much better. Also the dishwasher "pacs" aren't as good as they used to be, they didn't clean tea stains off mugs.
We buy chicken/ribs, jam, frozen stuff, meat, bakery stuff.

appletre1 · 23/01/2024 22:38

Catering tin foil is good value for money my roll
Lasted a year.
Boxes of bleach are good too

weasle · 23/01/2024 22:40

I've been in USA and it's fabulous for good quality meat, maple syrup, deli stuff (dips, cooked meat). Massive bag of amazing prunes!
But the best things I've got are clothes. Undies, socks, sports bras leggings, fleeces, children clothes. Do they do those things over here? I'm considering joining but don't live very near so it would have to be a mission to go and not sure it's worth it.

Lindy2 · 24/01/2024 00:22

We don't have much space to store loads so we tend to get the smaller stuff. I like

  • the chicken hot pots
  • the sushi platters
  • the salamis
  • tomahawk steaks - although they don't always have these
  • bottled water

Randomly, I got a brilliant cycle helmet from there once. It's do comfortable. Some of the clothes are good too.

The toilet paper is good quality. It blocked our drains! 🙈 Triple ply is more than our sewage system can cope with so we had to downgrade the toilet rolls back to the thinner double ply ones from Home Bargains.

A sheet cake from the bakery. Best icing I have ever tasted.

RamblinRosie · 24/01/2024 02:34

We tend to do a run every 6 weeks or so. Because of the pack sizes, we do tend to have stuff squirrelled away all around the house.

Kitchen foil, massive catering roll - really sturdy and wide, usually lasts over a year.
Kitchen rolls - Kirkland
Loo rolls - Kirkland
Kleenex tissues
Fairy Liquid
Dishwasher tabs
Fairy washing liquid
Fabric conditioner
Olive oil - massive bottle, so I decant it into a green wine bottle and use a pourer
Tomato Sauce
Soy sauce
Peri Peri sauce
Tinned tomatoes
Coconut milk
Pasta
Black peppercorns
Walnuts
Pinenuts
Cheese - Parmesan, Comte, Roquefort as well as the usual.
Hummus
Frozen prawns
Pork loins are amazing

Generally, I like to mooch around and see what they’ve got, some of the stuff in the centre aisle is really good quality branded clothes etc.

Have fun.

We've used them for big parties but I find the icing unbearably sweet & artificial. They are an absolute bargain though!
