Relax everyone and put your existential angst aside. Should it become necessary, Bozo, the man who brought the country the wild success that is Brexit, would put on a uniform, pick up a gun and fight for the country. I feel so much better knowing that.

Bloody hell that's all we need. The picture of him on that zip wire waving flags comes to mind.

Marina Hyde at her best! Apols if it's been linked before

This is spot on. It's just a game of making sure they get what they want and stuff the country.

And how has this not been made public:
We’ll play out with the news that Open Democracy has published a story reporting the sale of the Kigali homes that Suella Braverman once claimed would house the asylum seekers

Roussette · 27/01/2024 09:01

The sale of the Kigali homes is pathetic and yes why is it not reported. Braverman was showing them off with such glee.
Rwanda have had enough, don't blame them

BIossomtoes · 27/01/2024 09:12

It’s not being reported because it would confirm that the Rwanda plan will never come to fruition. And it’s just about all they’ve got while they’re busy playing a real life game of Traitors.

  • they want Badenoch or Braverman as PM by June

  • Conservative Britain Alliance talking to Suella aides

  • campaign of attrition, next target Feb 15

  • anti-Sunak convos between NewCons, ex-aides to Jenrick, Rees-Mogg

Meanwhile, this sort of thing is distracting from the Rwanda debacle. A nice bit of war fear mongering never goes amiss. This thread is totally bonkers and nasty about the younger generations.

The week in Tory is back!

Brace, brace for the first #TheWeekInTory of 2024.

Also, please read the tweet at the end, which my publisher insists I add, and which helps to pay for my dog to eat things (other than rotting pigeons he finds on the field). Ta

I don't understand this plot nonsense. Surely if a Sunak removal looks likely, he'll just call a GE?

Notonthestairs · 27/01/2024 16:51

As frustrating as it is to have the new cycle dominated by Tory infighting I'd like to think that whilst they are busy attacking each other they do less harm to the nation.
That might be optimistic.

Four Rwandans were granted refugee status in the UK over “well-founded” fears of persecution at the same time as the government was arguing in court and parliament that the east African country was a safe place to send asylum seekers.

The details of the four cases obtained by the Observer and Led By Donkeys are in addition to six Rwandans who Home Office figures suggest were granted asylum in the UK between April 2022 when the policy was first announced and September 2023.

Revealed: UK granted asylum to Rwandan refugees while arguing country was safe

Home Office said refugees’ fear of persecution was ‘well-founded’, undermining Rishi Sunak’s claims about East African country

I've been wondering if the regular "rebellions" are in fact timed to happen on a Tuesday so that the News covers something other than Sunak getting eviscerated by Starmer at PMQs.
I'm very bored of it anyway. Maybe he should do a John Major and call his own vote of no confidence

More Brexit news in the Express

New Brexit rules outrage Tory MPs as fruit and veg prices set to rocket: 'Really stupid!' | Politics | News | Express.co.uk

On Wednesday, the Department for Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) updated its website and unexpectedly reclassified many fruit and vegetable consignments from the EU as “medium risk” from “low risk” for the purposes of the Border Target Operating Model (BTOM) from 31st October.

Writing about the decision on social media platform X, MP Jacob Rees-Mogg wrote: "This is really stupid and is why I strongly opposed it as Brexit Opportunities Minister."

When are we allowed to "talk" about Brexit?

Jacob Rees-Mogg said he "strongly opposed" the new Brexit rules that will see fruit and vegetable prices rise.

22 July 2017
Leaving the European Union (EU) will reduce people’s food, wine and clothes bills by up to 20 per cent, said Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg.

Notonthestairs · 27/01/2024 22:43

Honestly why should anyone that called for Brexit ever be given a platform again?? Or anyone that has continued with the pretence (the new believers like Truss etc).

Either they lied then or they are lying now.

HoL reform is a Labour policy, isn’t it? Gordon.Brown’s written a policy paper on it. Fucking Rwanda’s become the new Brexit.

I read this article this morning.

One was granted asylum the day before Sunak declared it safe publicly. With a letter saying they accepted they weren't safe.

You just can't make this shit up Angry

It really is beyond parody now. Please put us out of our misery and call a GE.

I hope @Jgw1 Is OK.
