If Sunak gets paid, will he have to declare it?

This is a stupid question but how do you access GB News. Is it free or do you have to pay?

Focusing on u-turns is counter productive - because Governments U - turn and when the Conservatives are in Opposition, I am sure they will u-turn on things as well.

It's also good to change decisions in light of new evidence rather than sticking to plans regardless of any new evidence.

The problem is though that Labour are looking more and more like the Tories, i hear this all the time, there is very little "clear water" between the two from the average voters POV.

Tory MP Laura Trott's interview with Evan Davis on last night PM was a car crash, a Treasury minister unaware of OBR debt to GDP forecasts, wont make any headlines though, the mainly right-wing printed press wont report it.

EU and USA are fully committed to Green energy investment, UK now looks like it will be left behind, whoever wins the next GE.

It's on free view, so it's free to watch
In my mind it's basically the political equivalent of TV preachers.

My (normally low) blood pressure couldn’t stand it. I’d be in danger of spontaneously combusting.

I didn't watch Question Time but in the clips I have seen, the audience were saying that they rather had Labour u-turning on a promise before the GE than running on a false promise and ditch it afterwards.

Sunak Q and A, one the questions will be highly vetted two he never answers questions therefore no point in asking a question that will never be answered and an answer that bears no relation to the question asked, Tories lie perpetually may as well ask his shoe size

You don't actually show up!

They did this with a Trump rally once and as a result the venue was empty.

AdamRyan · 09/02/2024 09:04

Well actually I think the art would be to show up with a sycophantic pre asked question, then ask something different. Preferably while doing a superman to revel some kind of slogan T shirt, and getting made into a meme.

Maybe Sasha Baron Cohen should make a character especially for this?

Jason118 · 09/02/2024 09:37

Will it be 'live' or 'as live'. They won't take any risks.

It’s not wrong.

However the whole thing is going to be overshadowed by Sunak somehow managing to accidentally murder a kitten live on air or something empathetic.

IClaudine · 09/02/2024 10:40

He will either be even more robotic than usual or he will fuck up in some way.

What the hell is going on here? It seems incredibly murky.

@vicderbyshire ripping apart the questionable Mayor Ben Houchen.

Tories have put in £560+ million of OUR money into this terrible project. So far, @ft reports the two men and their families have taken £124 million out.

This week Liz Truss's 'Popular Conservatives' railed against 'Davos man'.

Guess where Truss was given free ski passes, ski guides, and dinner last month?

Yep, Davos....

Braverman's legislation has actually made it more difficult to deport asylum seekers

x.com/willstewartnews/status/1755931737828245590?s=46&t=Uw4lJNwxFZFnX0Xs3doHYg

I can't access the full article but it looks like the Home Office can't process claims made by asylum seekers arriving after 7/3/23.
And they have nowhere to send them.
22, 500 outstanding claims and nowhere to go. (I guess the only people benefiting are any Tory contact that lets accommodation to the HO).

The Government were warned this would happen but ploughed on with the legislation anyway.

DuncinToffee · 09/02/2024 14:56

I saw that tweet but like you can't access the full article.

DuncinToffee · 09/02/2024 15:03

Just checked Lizzie Dearden's twitter and she posted a thread

https://x.com/lizziedearden/status/1755958138807677047?s=20

Exclusive: The Home Office has barred itself from considering more than 22,000 asylum applications because of a “crazy” contradiction in Rishi Sunak’s flagship small boats law

It means they can't be granted asylum, but they also can't be sent to Rwanda

Notonthestairs · 09/02/2024 15:16

Thanks Duncin.
Looks to be like the Tories needed some headlines last year, ignored warnings or failed to properly assess risk, and went ahead with it. Leaving thousands of refugees in limbo and ongoing costs.

IClaudine · 09/02/2024 16:19

I found this quote from Badenoch rather intriguing. Kemi ain't no feminist, I guess? Is Hamish the real power behind her? I don't know much about him.

In relation to the idea that she was manipulated by powerful men, Badenoch said her husband, Hamish, was more of an influence. “If there’s somebody who is doing that, wouldn’t it be the person who goes to bed with me every night and pays for my home and so on? Hamish is a huge influence on how I do things. Which I think is right, because this job affects his life.”

BIossomtoes · 09/02/2024 16:51

Where was that from @IClaudine? It’s definitely not sticking it to the patriarchy, is it?
