Having dismantled PHE the government now seem to be trying to dismantle the part of its replacement that’s supposed to deal with public health. I’m sure this will not go wrong at all.

According to Bloomberg, Property tycoon Tory donor Nick Candy says it’s “time for a change” of government to Labour and praises Keir Starmer’s engagement with business

Candy attended PopCon, has donated mega bucks to the Tory party and was in Shaun Bailey's covid party photo.

His wife Holly Valance of Neighbours fame was praising Truss and wanted JRM for PM after the PopCon launch

Grinlove it

Evan Davis reads out a huge list of Tory U-turns

Laura Trott(Tory MP): "We've had to make some difficult decisions... Covid..."

Thank you Dunc I love RussinCheshire's posts, he puts it all into perspective

Oh dear, I've only got to No.1 and I'm laughing out loud...

cakeorwine · 08/02/2024 19:05

Focusing on u-turns is counter productive - because Governments U - turn and when the Conservatives are in Opposition, I am sure they will u-turn on things as well.

It's also good to change decisions in light of new evidence rather than sticking to plans regardless of any new evidence.

Not quite sure whether Laura Trott or Chris Philip had the biggest car crash this morning. Are Tory HQ sending people out to defend the ridiculous as some sort of test to test their loyalty to the party?

The mask thing is so badly thought through it’s hilarious. it’s basically arrest everyone in a mask ask questions about whether they are wearing the mask legally later.

And then when they appear in court ask them to retrospectively prove they had covid six months ago. Absolutely fucking bonkers.

Those clips!

RafaistheKingofClay · 08/02/2024 19:50

With a test that has a fairly significant false negative rate.

And wearing a mask to prevent yourself from getting Covid or to prevent transmitting any airborne virus isn’t illegal either. And it’s for ‘certain protests’ according to the Home office tweet. Willing to guess that literally nobody has sat and looked at this proposal and tried to figure out how the police add supposed to work with it.

Fortunately the courts aren’t particularly busy so they’ll have plenty of time to sit and listen to cases where the prosecution don’t stand a chance of even beginning to make it stick.

I watched Philps and it gave me a flash back to Camerons whole "hug a hoodie" thing....so I googled it. Guess who's brain child that was?

Danny Kruger 🤔

RafaistheKingofClay · 08/02/2024 20:24

Hug a hoodie. Those were the good old days relatively speaking.

What the hell. Rishi is going to be filling in for JRM on his GB news show. How is that even allowed? Surely there are rules against that. Or should be.

Apart from anything else someone at Tory HQ is definitely trolling him. We know how good he is at engaging with the public unscripted.

Seriously how is it allowed? Imagine if labour had their own TV channel funded by their mates and Keir presented a show on it? We would never hear the end of it.

Jason118 · 08/02/2024 22:06

Reform will be livid!

Roussette · 08/02/2024 22:16

Labour are held up to a much higher standard, that's always been the case

I find it awful that Mogg is tweeting that our actual PM is taking over his show on that right wing shitty channel

I don't think anyone in the House should have a regular TV spot

newnamethanks · 08/02/2024 22:31

Seriously? Wtf? That is appalling. I hope there will be many complaints. Surely that can't be right, self promotion on a massive scale - well it would be if it had an audience - but regular brainwashing from the PM? No. Wrong in so many ways.

BIossomtoes · 08/02/2024 22:40

I feel a complaint to Ofcom coming on. Anyone else?

OP posts:
Roussette · 08/02/2024 22:45

Yes, I was wondering where to complain to, of course Ofcom
Especially as GB news is under investigation by them already I think
I will do it tomorrow

RafaistheKingofClay · 09/02/2024 00:11

Ofcom won't touch GB new for some reason. Partly because they say it isn't a news channel but an entertainment one.

I think it was only this morning they dropped the complaints against Neil Oliver for his turbo charged cancer in kids caused by the covid vaccine claim due to free speech and it not materially misleading the audience. I'm not sure how claiming that something that doesn't exist is caused by a thing that definitely didn't cause the thing that doesn't exist is true is not materially misleading people but there you go.

Of course if the Tories hadn't corrupted Ofcom by filling it with their mates then it might work better. Like everything else they've destroyed.

AdamRyan · 09/02/2024 08:19

Yeah it's infuriating
I also looked at the ministerial code, which says all appearances need to be cleared by number 10. Great.
Have you seen how much these people are getting paid? £1000 an hour. It should not be allowed
