Ouch. You know you've hit the fossil bed when the opposition is openly disdainful and asking you to nick their ideas.

At this stage, everyone is just waiting for the GE. I'm not sure what Sunak hopes to achieve by hanging on until November.

Notonthestairs · 07/02/2024 11:03

The Sun are reporting that the " mood music" is pointing to an October election. Essentially they've have clocked how holding a UK election in the same month as a US election could be destabilising.

Not sure keeping the elections a couple of weeks apart will make much difference. Trump will be on full blast in October.

Don't know what that would mean for an Autumn Budget - maybe they'll try a Truss style 'fiscal event' in September.

eugh, just heard an LBC reporter attempting to interview JRM at popcon (worst festival this year). JRM just employed his usual turbo-pompous attempts at cowing and controlling discussion by talking/shouting over the reporter and making suspiciously snowflakey accusations of bias.

What I really wanted him to be asked is - considering the lived tracked record of the people at that event why does he still think that any of them are credible politicians that have the capability to reform the country. They’re a busted flush at best.

Roussette · 07/02/2024 11:49

Love it @DuncinToffee

Now have to go and look for Moggy interview

DuncinToffee · 07/02/2024 12:05

PMQs

Starmer to Sunak: “A year ago the Prime Minister promised to bring NHS waiting lists down. Isn’t he glad he didn’t bet a grand on it?”

DuncinToffee · 07/02/2024 12:08

Sunak comes out with the 'Starmer not knowing what a woman is'

Brianna Ghey's mum is in the gallery

Jesus wept. Seriously?

Yes and Starmer had clearly stated in his opening statement that Brianna's Mum was in the gallery and welcomed her.

Absolutely shocking. And Starmer appeared to be really really angry. Don't blame him.
How mean and what a huge mis-step.

Cornettoninja · 07/02/2024 12:16

The mental image conjured whenever I hear Rishi answer a question at pmq’s…

I don't think Starmer could actually believe what he just heard

Cornettoninja · 07/02/2024 12:18

yup. JoB has just kindly given him the benefit of doubt. Undeservedly.

It was just a snippet around 11.30 @Roussette. it isn’t that long. Long enough to raise your bp for what feels like longer.

Esther Ghey has shown such immense strength and dignity. How awful for her to witness this.

He will get shredded and rightly so. Odious man.

Roussette · 07/02/2024 12:23

For anyone on here who hasn't seen it. I agree KS could not believe what he had heard.
Esther Ghey has been so gracious and measured in interviews but she has to listen to that.

Cornettoninja · 07/02/2024 12:28

I’d like to see what the camera pointed at Rishi caught when starmer spoke. Just to see if there’s even a glimpse of humility in the man.

DuncinToffee · 07/02/2024 12:33

One of the Labour MP's offered Sunak the chance to apologise, he refused.

IClaudine · 07/02/2024 12:34

Poor woman, what a terrible thing for her to witness.

Starmer was so angry. It made me like him more than I usually do, somehow.

placemats · 07/02/2024 12:48

I follow these threads because of the wealth of information and have sometimes posted.

Every week I think Sunak faces a new low at PMQs but this was the worst. He was laughing at the "woman' quote and I was just as shocked and angry as Starmer.

Sunak was offered several times to apologise but he didn't.

To add, I'm voting and campaigning for Labour, believe strongly for single sex places, and will never take lectures from Tories regarding the rights and safety of women and girls. I also support trans people. The two are not in opposition.

pointythings · 07/02/2024 12:49

Things like this make me so angry with the GC ultra brigade. They just monster people and don't consider them human.

Saucery · 07/02/2024 12:51

Wow, that’s disgusting. No matter what your view is on Gender, that was a cynical and low blow in those circumstances.
I’m GC and who the fuck does Sunak think he’s appealing to with that? Whose vote does he think he’s winning? Not mine, for sure.
Hoyle, being bloody useless, as always.

Piggywaspushed · 07/02/2024 13:01

Oh, I want to cry.

This is so upsetting. What an odious man.

DuncinToffee · 07/02/2024 13:36

Downing Street doubles down on Rishi Sunak’s trans joke.

PM’s Press Secretary: “It’s legitimate to point out the number of U-turns the Leader of the Opposition has made.”
