But the thing is, as an EU citizen, it doesn't have to be the Netherlands. I have lots of other options

We have quite a few options as well based on the value of our property - although we have no current plans to leave the UK. Personally, I would much rather be comfortable financially than have an EU passport.

Good for you for getting on the property ladder and hanging on to your home. Thanks to the Tories it is even harder for people to do either of those things now.

IClaudine · 06/02/2024 08:12

Mel Stride was on LBC just now, bashing the sick and disabled, aided and abetted by Ferrari. Had to turn it off.

IClaudine · 06/02/2024 08:13

Oh, by the way @Roussette , I hear you are not a real person now?

pointythings · 06/02/2024 08:16

I know @Clavinova is off again, but I would just like to point out that it is possible for someone to have an EU passport and be financially comfortable. I am both.

John Crace's take on Sunak and his pathetic embarrassing interview with ghastly Piers.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/feb/05/the-longest-hour-piers-morgans-excruciating-interview-with-rishi-sunak

Maybe they could just do a bit of mutual arse-kissing? Piers quite likes that. He knows it’s wrong but deep down he needs to be loved.

Yes, I don't understand Clav linking being comfortable with not having an EU passport.

Notonthestairs · 06/02/2024 08:19

Apparently Sunak was "taken by surprise" when Morgan offered the bet. It's a good job Sunak doesn't have a super important role in Government- I'd hate for him to be given unexpected news at any point. Who knows where we'd end up.

Surely not!

Definitely.

And he should be on top of his belief enough to know that is the sort of stint Morgan pulls.

Can't stand him either though tbh!

Notonthestairs · 06/02/2024 08:31

It's just more evidence of poor judgement. I'm a bit surprised Sunak as PM ever thought an interview with Morgan was a good idea. Bit different if you are trying to get your message out but Sunak is already in power - a sign of how under pressure his government is.

Anyway we have all the fun of the PopCon launch today - looking forward to whatever the agile minds of Truss/Mogg/Clarke/Patel can come up with to energise the Conservatives. Just don't mention Brexit.

DuncinToffee · 06/02/2024 08:36

Radio 5, he is just waffling not answering the question
I am not a betting person but

https://x.com/Haggis_UK/status/1754776529182093558?s=20

Rachel Burden: You shook hands on a £1000 bet with Piers Morgan over the Rwanda scheme... a lot of our listeners found that offensive?

Rishi Sunak: "I was taken totally by surprise.."

RB: was it a mistake to shake his hand then?

RS: No...

DuncinToffee · 06/02/2024 08:37

Isn't Farage the PopCon special guest?

Notonthestairs · 06/02/2024 08:39

Sunak doesn't see the conflict between those two statements?

Or the sheer vulgarity of betting on people's lives?

Notonthestairs · 06/02/2024 08:40

DuncinToffee · 06/02/2024 08:37

Isn't Farage the PopCon special guest?

Farage is attending as a 'journalist' (and bait for the right wingers)

IClaudine · 06/02/2024 08:40

He really is hopelessly inadequate.

DuncinToffee · 06/02/2024 08:41

More from Sunak, but vaping...

https://x.com/Haggis_UK/status/1754784184478945710?s=20

Rachel Burden: A report into children's health said the number of children living in extreme poverty is going up, 1/5 of children are overweight or obese by 5 year old, 1 in 4 affected by tooth decay... a general picture of decline?

Rishi Sunak: "I haven't seen those figures.."

DuncinToffee · 06/02/2024 08:42

I don't think Sunak actually listens to the questions.

DuncinToffee · 06/02/2024 08:51

I wonder if Clav was briefed by Mel Stride hence her comfortably off comment

Kay: Low-income households to receive £299 today. Meanwhile the PM is betting £1000 over #Rwanda on TV...

Work and Pensions Sec @MelJStride : People don't care about these side shows that occupy news print

Notonthestairs · 06/02/2024 09:13

What Stride means is they tried to pull off a media stunt, it's backfired directly as a result of Sunak being easily manipulated, and now they are hoping people will forget all about it.

Roussette · 06/02/2024 09:21

IClaudine · 06/02/2024 08:13

Yep! I'm referred to as 'it'....nice, eh?!

You gotta laugh....

They usually choose the This Morning sofa for a bit of soft soaping. Whoever thought Piers Morgan was a good idea, needs their head read!

newnamethanks · 06/02/2024 09:46

Susanna was on good form on itv today, refusing to let the Tory rep (who? No idea) get away with repetitively spouting 'Labour, no plan'. Rare to see.

Sam Coates, Sky on Sunak just getting dragged into stuff.... you've got to deal with more difficult people than Piers Morgan, you've got to deal with Putin.. "

Remember he hid from the Greek PM over Marbles.

Kwarteng is standing down at the next election

Kwarteng is standing down at the next election

I'd be happy but no doubt he's going to earn big bucks as a "consultant"
