Pathetic Clavinova

Another Dutch poster!

Notonthestairs · 05/02/2024 20:57

Well if you are going to talk about refugees arriving in Norfolk you should really reference the Huguenots - the word refugee stems from that period.

Notonthestairs · 05/02/2024 21:00

But obviously that has little to do with Sunak's shabby little performance today.

pointythings · 05/02/2024 21:02

I have got Dutch nationality. My plans are fluid and dependent on where my adult DC end up. And probably also on what kind of government we get next.

Us forrin types are actually capable of putting down roots in the UK, you know.

No doubt looking at the government in the Netherlands as well - that Geert Wilders guy is something else.

pointythings · 05/02/2024 21:22

@Clavinova I can see the Netherlands not having a government for a long time again. But the thing is, as an EU citizen, it doesn't have to be the Netherlands. I have lots of other options.

We have quite a few options as well based on the value of our property - although we have no current plans to leave the UK. Personally, I would much rather be comfortable financially than have an EU passport.

Well, isn't that a whole debate.....

But nice to see you back on these threads. Maybe we should take a bet for how long you stay on this particular thread?

Signing off now - I only sometimes look in.
I'm not as interested as I used to be.

Doesn’t say it all about a certain brand of right wing Brexit type? They don’t care about anything much because they have money and it doesn’t affect them.

Have you seen this? Just saw it on twitter

Conquerors and settlers
Warriors and lovers...

Romanticised twaddle and not a helpful comparison - the author needs a history lesson;

Boudica (for example) and her two young daughters were brutally assaulted by the Romans. She was publically stripped and flogged and her two daughters (who were probably only tweens) were gang raped. Boudica vowed revenge, raised a rebellion, and her followers slaughtered 70,000 people...

"I am avenging lost freedom, my scourged body, the outraged chastity of my daughters. Roman lust has gone so far that not our very person, nor even age or virginity, are left unpolluted..."

She was defeated in the end and committed suicide.

Oh Clav, trust you to miss the point as usual. You are funny. But at least you got to show off a little bit of irrelevant history knowledge.

Ah lots of people want to be financially comfortable. Too bad Brexit has thrown a spanner in that work for so many people.

Honestly it's desperate. I'm finding it hard to be civil

Yes I'm feeling that way currently.

If their plan is to get people so fed up with politics they don't vote they may just be succeeding in something.

Not here though. I'll be putting my tick in a box - just not a Tory one!

Yes.
Very "I'm alright Jack"

itsgettingweird · 06/02/2024 04:54

I love when clav appears on this thread.

Always tells me just how desperate the Tory's are 😂😂

MrTiddlesTheCat · 06/02/2024 07:04

As an expat who's just got their vote back I say, the tories can take their attempt at vote rigging and shove it up their arse. I'll be voting for the other guy.

John Crace's take on Sunak and his pathetic embarrassing interview with ghastly Piers.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/feb/05/the-longest-hour-piers-morgans-excruciating-interview-with-rishi-sunak

Wow. I'd give this a watch except, you know, an hour with Morgan and Sunak. Thanks to Crace taking one for the team.
