Is there a thread/sub section for gender non conforming women?

If not, let's start one. This is a safe space for us. Hopefully.

The Queen was an army mechanic, and liked shooting things, so I reckon she qualifies as non-conforming.

She'll be categorised as trans within a decade .

I'm wearing jeans and no make-up - am I 'in'?

No, you need to be perched on the sofa in a twin-set and pearls, drinking a can of lager and belching loudly with the rugby on. Duh.

UltimateQuattro · 21/01/2024 22:24

Yeah, Queenie will be trans by next decade. Soon I'll be gender fluid/non binary or committed for having a pint and shooting pool at the local on my way home from work. How times have changed, or not.

I'm feeling very unsafe as I'm currently wearing men's socks. Lead on to the safe space, OP, that I might be protected from harm.

CryptoFascist · 21/01/2024 22:31

I own many outfits including trousers and 3 boilersuits! I am informed this does not count. Apparently the teens think women can only be gender non conforming if they get their hair cut short and are under 40 (if you're over 40 it doesn't count as the teens then call it a Karen hairstyle). I am over 40 so can't be GNC, it's not allowed.

KingscoteStaff · 21/01/2024 22:40

I own a tool box and have never worn make up. Let me in to the safe space and give me biscuits.

Ellysetta · 21/01/2024 22:41

But if you believe that some people are “gender non-conforming” then you must believe that there is a gender “norm” which most people of a sex subscribe to. When you say “gender non-conforming” what I hear is “most women should be like THIS but I am not, so I am so special”

But most women aren’t like your stereotype

Most women are too busy to do this navel-gazing shit

And those Mumsnetters that aren’t too busy (me!) are mostly too grown up to think gender non-conforming means whatever super special thing you think it means

I don’t shave my legs

I don’t wear make up

I wear a dress if it’s sunny and I’m going somewhere fancy or I want fresh air round my bits 👀 but mostly I wear PJs or jogging bottoms, or if it’s a heatwave then I wear nothing at all and just sit on a towel at home

I have more hair on my chin and cheeks than most teenage boys (but I shave 😬)

I totally regret your sexist and regressive stereotypes

Women are hairy

Women wear trousers

Women play pool and go to pubs and lift heavy shit

And doing things like that does not make me any less of the female gender or sex or whatever label teens are agonising over today 🥱

And there is no such thing as a safe space for women, anywhere, and certainly not on the internet. And one day you will discover that and I’m sorry about that.

UltimateQuattro · 21/01/2024 22:42

This is what I'm talking about. Ha

Let's say I show tomorrow. I'm a pretty girl but I act like a man. How would you judge me? Not well, I expect.

How does one "act like a man"?

HateItWhenABitchLetsHimselfSlide · 21/01/2024 22:47

UltimateQuattro · 21/01/2024 21:43

Imagine being a pretty lady from a nice middle class background, but you behave like a typical working class male. Not on, innit

Are you high, OP?

RAFOfficer · 21/01/2024 22:50

Ooh, can I play? My combats say Men’s on the label…

Boomboom22 · 21/01/2024 22:50

Literally all the women on fwr who use their voices, very naughty and male like, it does anger the tra's who want everyone to stay in their box to validate trans.

Onabench · 21/01/2024 22:57

What makes you feel like you need to start this post? Are you excluded by your peers? Have no friends? Struggle to fit in?

I don’t confirm to “the” stereotypical woman but I am okay with that. There are many women I CAN identify with. Because we don’t all come in the same shape. I don’t have that trouble on mumsnet, as you can be whoever you want. So I am not sure what you’re looking for here.

theDudesmummy · 21/01/2024 23:01

I own a dress (maybe two) I am the only breadwinner in the family. I put retinol cream on my face at night. I am very senior in a very male dominated field. I never cook or shop for groceries. I love rose scented hand cream. I never do any housework apart from putting the washing on because I like to watch it go round and round. I am terrified when i walk to my car at night in town and i put my keys between my fingers. Can I play?

Chichimcgee · 21/01/2024 23:06

I’m judging you for spouting such drivel and sounding slightly unhinged. Not sure that’s because of your gender non conforming (wtaf) though

IHS · 21/01/2024 23:38

I think I am because I wore ds' old shirt yesterday and today and my hair is short. I like doing cross stitch though 🤫

lordloveadog · 21/01/2024 23:45

I sometimes sit with my knees spread wide apart so I'm going to take up extra safe space

SwordToFlamethrower · 22/01/2024 00:04

I don't shave my legs or pits, I drive a 4x4 and I do all the DIY in our house.

Am I man enough?

How does one "act like a man"?

Channel Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

That at least gets you through the learning how to walk stage.

Oneofthesurvivors · 22/01/2024 01:01

I mean, I think I probably would qualify as gender non conforming as I regularly get called "sir" but I'm old enough not to give a shit.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 22/01/2024 01:02

It sounds as though you want the feminism boards, lots of gender non-conforming women there and they will fight for your right to do whatever the men can do.

Fionaville · 22/01/2024 01:09

Oh no, are we supposed to be conforming again? I didn't think we had to anymore.

FetchezLaVache · 22/01/2024 01:17

To me, this smacks a bit of the 80s cliché of women who would fall over themselves to be the 'kind of girl who hangs out with the guys', putting distance between herself and all other women to show she's superior to them.

Are you going to fart, burp, scratch your parts, sit with feet wide apart and say "make me a sandwich, bitches ?" *

*other behaviour by men is also available
