Barcelona to Gatwick has drawn a pretty holding pattern.

Squirrelsbite · 21/01/2024 21:32

Another one doing loops

The Luton to Cork flight is doing loops near the airport without actually attempting to land. There don't seem to be any other flights around so I wonder what's going on?

Footage from a County Meath petrol station. It looks almost like a hurricane! 😲

Yikes that's horizontal rain.
I follow the Shipping Forecasts and it's 'Red' in all sea areas tonight.
Going to be rough out there for sure.

Hope everyone stays safe.

It’ll just be flying overhead. More interested in the Glasgow to dublin that appears to be attempting take off! The wind has really ramped up at Glasgow in last half hour.

Butterflytown · 21/01/2024 21:32

FR24 is addictive!! Not RTFT but easyJet Geneva to Gatwick failed to land and headed to Paris where it looks like it’s about to land.

jmx3 · 21/01/2024 21:33

London to Edin coming in again, finger crossed!

duckpancakes · 21/01/2024 21:33

Got to admire the attitude of the pilots. There's not of this - oh they managed it so we can too. They don't push it.

Has anyone ever been on similar flights that were holding, go arounds or diverts (after hours circling and trying). I can't imagine what the passengers must be thinking, although I'm sure the crew are excellent at announcements. The pilots know the limits also.

Just wondered. The only time I had an issue was going to Nice and the weather there was very windy. Tried twice, gave up and went to Toulon. I will never forget the attempted landings. I don't care what anyone says there cannot be anyone who would be super calm in those circumstances! We got going again from Toulouse to Nice eventually.

Yes, I was on a flight from LHR to JFK in early January in I think 2018, and a blizzard hit NYC worse than forecast while we were en route. JFK, La Guardia and Newark all filled up with parked planes, other colleagues travelling to NY had their flights diverted to Atlanta and Denver, but ours kept circling for three hours over NY hoping for a gap in the weather — and we finally handed at 2 am in Newark. The reason I remember is that a colleague on my flight fell and hurt her head and i ended up having to sit with her in First to make sure she wasn’t manifesting any odd symptoms.

I watched the Leeds one go overhead about a mile from landing just as a wheel bin flew down the street, impressive landing in this wind. This might be my new hobby.

Bimblesalong · 21/01/2024 21:33

The Cork plane looks like it’s heading away again.

mauvish · 21/01/2024 21:34

Sharm el Sheikh- Glasgow now heading south-west, will be over the Solway firth soon, wonder where it's going.

The Glasgow to Dublin plane has been there a while. It's cancelled on the Glasgow airport website.

dailyduel · 21/01/2024 21:35

Can’t work out where the sharm to Glasgow flight is going now.

mummyh2016 · 21/01/2024 21:35

SSH-GLA now squawking.

Weeteeny · 21/01/2024 21:35

My son was on Belfast to Glasgow that landed at 1730. He said it was very bumpy! He said a Few people were being sick probably due the bumps all the way. He was very happy when it landed !

My guess is Liverpool

Butterflytown · 21/01/2024 21:35

Scratch that- easyJet Geneva to Gatwick failed to land at Gatwick, has gone back past Paris and looks to be heading back to Geneva.

I’m betting Manchester Or Liverpool as it’s so high and still southbound

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/01/2024 21:36

God knows where EZY62WA Geneva to Gatwick's going now; I thought it was trying for Orly but it's way south of there now (and yes this is hopelessly addictive)

Bimblesalong · 21/01/2024 21:36

Wonder if it’s going to LPool or Manc.

I am wondering if it’s going to turn and head towards Newcastle.
