Paris Dublin is down

couiza · 21/01/2024 19:42

Has anyone ever been on similar flights that were holding, go arounds or diverts (after hours circling and trying). I can't imagine what the passengers must be thinking, although I'm sure the crew are excellent at announcements. The pilots know the limits also.

Just wondered. The only time I had an issue was going to Nice and the weather there was very windy. Tried twice, gave up and went to Toulon. I will never forget the attempted landings. I don't care what anyone says there cannot be anyone who would be super calm in those circumstances! We got going again from Toulouse to Nice eventually.

TeaandHobnobs · 21/01/2024 19:43

Peter Gibbs (former weatherman) just tweeted about planes stuck in hold for Dublin, so I came straight over to find your thread @cakeorwine 😁

Ionacat · 21/01/2024 19:44

Most of the Belfast flights seem to have diverted to Manchester/Liverpool. But Manchester Dublin which was diverted to Belfast is still circling. They must be feeling quite ill after those attempts and circling at Dublin.

BasilParsley · 21/01/2024 19:44

DXB just managed to land at DUB

2024please · 21/01/2024 19:44

The Emirates has landed.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 21/01/2024 19:45

Jet2 looks like it's off to MAN, EZY AMS-GLA now going south.

DyslexicPoster · 21/01/2024 19:48

My last flight was out of Dublin. I have circled and had bumpy langs but no go around. My sister has done multiple go around including one that touched down and took straight off. She has flown hundreds of places and said it was awful and it took 24 hours for the adrenaline to wear off.

Crew are more calm. A friend was a air steward and said they had a terrible landing and they to go around and said they was joking about giving out free drinks as they was all going to die.

BasilParsley · 21/01/2024 19:49

AMS to GLA EZY s also squawking 7700

Just12345 · 21/01/2024 19:49

I am still learning what the codes are but is 7700 usually medical?

@Just12345 7700 is any general emergency, medical, mechanical, the lot

Ionacat · 21/01/2024 19:52

Manchester- Dublin has finally given up on Belfast and is off back to over the sea but not back to Manchester by the looks of it.

BrennieGirl · 21/01/2024 19:52

It's indicates the need for priority of some sort..this came up earlier today with a pp and I guess I'm going to have to see if I can find the link I had to the CAA stats on this (I used to have a link) but the most common reason you see it in UK airspace is if an aircraft needs priority for a medical reason.

That said tonight it might be being used (on ATC's instructions) by aircraft who have been holding for a while, are now diverting, and need a straight line with no delay to their alternate.

lshark · 21/01/2024 19:54

Watching the Cardiff Dublin flight
Goodness me it has circled a lot
