How much would you pay for a croissant?

Just a single croissant, no butter, no filling. From a terribly naice shop, to take away.

I was stunned by the price. I promise to come back & reveal it, but I'd like to know what others think is reasonable - maybe I'm out of touch.

I was in a swanky bakery yesterday ... croissants were easily £4 each, artisan doughnuts £4+ ... the place was packed with a queue ... and it wasn't in a 'posh' area.

£4 ?! Is £3.75 of that the "artisan" bit? I mean, I think I can get 4 for a quid in Tesco, I doubt they'd taste much different.

Is artisan just some wanky calling sign for people with more money than sense?

So shocked when I paid £2.50 for one in Southwold - to take away. It was full of air, nothing to it!

TheThings I know ... I was shocked and at the risk of sounding like my mother 'I thought there was a COL crisis' ... clearly not in the artisan cafes Hmm.
And I hadn't realised it was a vegan cafe and only served oat milk ....
