Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my spot, and about to take my tablets with it. The washer's on already for uniform and work clothes. I'm sure dd2 will be up shortly to tell me alllll about the stream of Adele, from Vegas, that she got up to watch last night. For now it's quite peaceful though 😊

I'm taking dd2 into town this morning to pick up birthday cards and wrapping paper for dd1's 17th 🤯 birthday on Thursday. We might pop into a few other shops and have a Costa before heading home.

Dd1's college day was quite disrupted yesterday, by various things, so she didn't get as much college work done as she wanted. So I think she was going to do the majority of that today, while we're out.

Not sure what's for tea yet - I'm hoping someone else takes it upon them to look & decide after a conversation about "you're both a bit more grown up now so can chip in a bit more please" last night. We'll see before I crack on & do it.

Tonight it's more of my book and Murdle for me. I'm struggling on murder 40 🤔 I cannot work out how to place the actual murderer in the right location (I looked at the answer eventually, last night). I might consider some crochet too - I haven't picked up my blanket project in a while.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I had a restless night because of painful legs so I was up fairly early. I've had two coffees and a slice of homemade bread toasted. Later I'm meeting friends for breakfast. Saturday is usually my shopping, housework and washing day. I can hold off food shopping but I need to pick up a parcel from the local retail park. I might have cheese omelette for dinner. Saturday is usually my easy meal night. Enjoy your day

ShipshapeShore · 20/01/2024 09:06

Your Saturdays always sound calm and cosy. I will inevitably and boringly spend all day trying to tidy the house and clean round all the stuff everywhere as usual. Sigh. An awful week at work has left me feeling sad and anxious so I'm very much looking forward to reading about everyone's plans! Enjoy your Saturday all whatever you're up to 😊.

Justonedayatatime11 · 20/01/2024 09:10

Still in bed enjoying the peace. I've ridden a bit more than I should have this week and feeling decidedly achy. DD came off her pony last night and has bashed herself up a bit so I'm hoping for a nice lazy day. Possibly make a coffee cake and some sausage rolls but very little else.
I think it's homemade pizza and wedges for tea and I need to make a creme egg cheesecake for tomorrow's lunch. Other than that I plan to read and doze! Hope everyone has a lovely weekend

lucysmam · 20/01/2024 09:11

Ooh @LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand I'm rubbish at omelette & bloody love them 😋

@ShipshapeShore sorry you had a bad week at work 💐

Ds has football training, it’s a half hour drive away. Going to take the dog and walk her in some hills nearby whilst he trains. I’ve got the grumps today, I want to spend my Saturdays going to nice National Trust places and having lunch in their cafes - not dealing with bonkers dog and muddy football kits!
Yes I know this is real life and I need to get over it - as Dh just helpfully reminded me!

PurpleSky09 · 20/01/2024 09:13

Morning all, I’ve been awake a while and been sat with a cup of tea browsing my iPad in peace. Will get up properly in a moment, walk the dog, and then DP and I will quickly do some chores before having a walk into town. We’ll get some lunch whilst there. DP has various jobs to be getting on with this afternoon once we get back so I’ll be preparing a curry to have for tea. I’m really looking forward to the next episode of Gladiators later, loved it last week 😂 Have a good day all.

OldTinHat · 20/01/2024 09:13

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone!

I was supposed to go to the mainland to see my son for his birthday this weekend, but the storm warning has postponed that. I don't want to get stuck over there tomorrow and not be able to get home. My turtle would miss me!

I'm going to bumble to the chemist in a bit to pick up a prescription. Then I'll attempt to clean and tidy the house because my cleaner is able to come back next week. Hooray! I've been living in squalor 😆 I can't let her see how far into chaos I've fallen since she's been off. But there again, it may make her realise what a difference she makes to my life! No. I'll clean first. She may take one look and never come back!

Happy Saturday all!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 20/01/2024 09:13

Lucysmam I have made many omelettes over the years and managed to perfect a cheese omelette a couple of years ago! It's my quick dinner.

GrumpySausage · 20/01/2024 09:16

My sons football match had just been cancelled so an unexpected lazy morning.

Part of me is tempted to go spinning but the other part is very much ready for lazing around!

FunkyMonks · 20/01/2024 09:24

Morning all I managed to go to the gym this morning rest of my day is going to be spent cleaning through the house.
Taking DD to her swimming lesson and then food shopping.
Had a lovely day yesterday and tomorrow is my birthday so going out for a meal with DH 😊.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 20/01/2024 09:27

I was up early and did my tax return by 8:30, so I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself even though I should have done it before mid-January Grin Normally if I'm up early at the weekend I like to knit or crochet, but then once I'm in relaxed mode I end up not getting anything constructive done for hours! I'll knit later and maybe do some spinning (on a spinning wheel, not a bike!). And maybe some yoga.

Dh is making scrambled eggs for the 3 of us. Ds is playing on the PS5. Dd is at uni but we'll have some banter on the family group chat with her today. Weather is awful, but dh has said he'll take one for the team and walk the dog. And do the supermarket shop. I've got school work to do

CurlewKate · 20/01/2024 09:28

I'm going out to lunch and to the theatre. I'm very excited!

Simonjt · 20/01/2024 09:29

Good morning, we’ve had an unexpected cold snap here its -10 today.

The dog is being a whinger today, he cut his paw so he has to wear a shoe to go outside, you would think we were dipping his foot in lava from the drama he causes.

Our son went on a sleepover last night, so we’ll be picking him up later, so we’re going to take our daughter to an indoor playbarn, its a bit like Kidzania, we thought we take the opportunity while he isn’t there as hes a bit too old for it. Plus they do really nice dairy free food.

No plans for this evening, so we’ll probably let our son pick a film for us all to watch.

Have a lovely saturday.

frozendaisy · 20/01/2024 09:29

Going to make coffee shortly and start the school shirts etc wash.
Slowly prep "Saturday roast" because I am out tomorrow and everyone still wants a weekend roast and no one else can make it as good!

I got craser kippers yesterday so that is after morning football meal

But the main activity is the shelves are ready to be installed, measured, built, painted. I am hoping they are the answer to the final "clutter" areas of downstairs.

IwishIdidntlikesugar · 20/01/2024 09:33

No idea really. Im sitting in my dressing gown semi listening to the news and wishing I still had some tea left in my cup. I have some work to do that I’ve been too tired/procrastinating over for a while now so really should just get it done this weekend. I will probably end up going for a walk later (to avoid the work most likely!).

lucysmam · 20/01/2024 09:37

@frozendaisy can we see your shelves when they're finished?

Morning, we'll all my plans have gone out the window (not that I had any) because dd7 woke me up at 5:30 with d&v 🤢 she was suppose to be going out for dinner tonight for her friends birthday meal so that's not happening. Bless her she was so looking forward to this weekend 😞

I need to pop out at some point so will have to leave her with her big sister.

SandyWaves · 20/01/2024 09:52

I look forward to this thread every weekend. 😁

MeinKraft · 20/01/2024 09:53

Morning all. DS (6) was sick last night and DD (2) is uncharacteristically whiny this morning so it's a day in the house for us. I've just been puddling around making breakfast, sorting out the recycling, putting on a wash. Need to feed the birds next and empty the dishwasher but no rush I suppose I've got all day.

I also have a book to read - The Murders at Fleat House so I might make a start on it if looks like the children are happy to entertain themselves for a while.

I really fancy home made chips, egg and beans for dinner.

RJnomore1 · 20/01/2024 09:56

Morning!

im going to blitz clean the house, its not bad so shouldn’t take long, then have a big shower or bath and possibly go out for a late lunch. When I get back I need to pick up some uni work.

Dinner might be takeaway, or if not we will cook together. Dd2 isn’t going out this weekend so the three of us might watch a film tonight.

id better get moving!

RabbitsRock · 20/01/2024 09:57

Morning lucysmam & everyone. Should be in the shower & washing my hair but am downstairs on my phone instead. Not particularly hungry so will probably have brunch around 12. Put a load of washing on & need to do the dishwasher. Trying to get used to putting food waste in the little bin. It’s a work in progress! The hall, stairs, landing & DH’s office all need clearing & the carpets need shampooing. We’re aiming for laminate flooring throughout as it’s a cheap carpet that was down when we moved in & it looks awful! So much we want to do to the house & garden. Off to see my DB, DSIL & DN this afternoon at my parents’. They’ve been down nearly a week but I haven’t had time to visit. DH is collecting DD15 from her girlfriend‘s & I might go with him or might stay home & do some composing on the piano as I haven’t played for ages. No idea what’s for tea - partly depends what time DH & DD get back. We might have KFC. I will watch Gladiators if I don’t go with DH. Really enjoyed it last week.

WhatWouldHopperDo · 20/01/2024 10:00

Morning @lucysmam.

DH is on nights so he’s not long gone to bed.

DD is having a driving lesson and will be studying when she gets back.

DS is still asleep. He’s working 3-10 or something like that.

I’ve just had a bagel with smoked mackerel pate which was so moreish! I’ll be taking DDog out shortly for a nice long run. (DDog running, not me!)

Ive got some laundry to do later but otherwise the house is pretty tidy. I want to have a nice long reading session today. I feel like I only ever grab 20 minutes here or there to read and I want to finish a book today.

Naan bread pizza for tea. DH will be going to work around 8pm so DD and I will carry on watching the web series we’ve been following.

MissMarplesNiece · 20/01/2024 10:00

@lucysmam Your post reminded me I haven't taken my tablets yet, I'd better get to it.

I've just eaten toasted muffin and jam and am now sitting about idly in my dressing gown. Today I'm going to try and get a bit organised by making a list of all the things I need to do over the coming weeks - my life feels a bit chaotic at the moment and it's making me feel panicked. Maybe less time idling in my dressing gown and more time getting things done would be beneficial 🙂.

Later this evening, DH and I might be going out to a gig, not sure yet.

CathyBoardman · 20/01/2024 10:01

Out on the streets for Palestine! 🇵🇸🇵🇸

newyearnewnothing · 20/01/2024 10:08

Going houseplant shopping and then just pottering about at home.
The weather is awful here today
