I don't know how to go to work tomorrow

Had to ring in sick today because of d&v yesterday and it was a horrible experience - I've genuinely never experienced anything like it. I work for a small family business and spoke to the wife - she openly accused me of lying, asking me repeatedly if I was sure I had d&v, saying I was always off when she needed me (I think I've phoned in sick twice before, in two years of working for them, once with covid and once with d&v)

I'm dreading going in tomorrow - I know she's going to be absolutely awful and it'll just be me and her. She's made me feel absolutely shit and I really don't want to see or speak to her!

Touch all the surfaces.

It is going to be awful tomorrow, but at least you'll get a day of peace on Wednesday when she's off with d&v too

Shouldbedoing · 15/01/2024 18:52

I hope you're feeling well enough tomorrow. You know the truth. She could do with a dose of it!

IroningThrone · 15/01/2024 19:02

Thank you for making me laugh! Thankfully the worse of it was on Sat and I'm starting to feel better. She was properly awful to me today, to the point I'm considering looking for a new job.

I would phone in sick again tomorrow (as long as you get paid) Fuck her the nasty cow

StinkyWizzleteets · 15/01/2024 19:09

No advice for tomorrow but Next time send her a selfie of you with head down the loo, thumbs up

dlago · 15/01/2024 19:13

NHS guidance is to remain off work and school for 48 hours AFTER d&v stops in order to prevent infecting other people.

guessmyage11 · 15/01/2024 19:13

Oh deffo lick her coffee cup and spread it to her. She'll soon know you were not lying. Serves her right nasty cow

TheLogicalSong · 15/01/2024 19:16

Take some cold vegetable soup with you and pretend you've vomited on her desk.

MumOfCluckers · 15/01/2024 19:18

NHS says to remain off work for 48hrs after your last bout of diarrhoea to avoid infecting people. I will admit I'm always a bit suspicious when my staff call in with D&V because it's pretty much guaranteed 3 days off work

I do not get paid if I'm off. I wish I could phone in sick again but unfortunately I need money so I have to go in!

Had no symptoms since sat night/sun morning so I will be abiding by the 48 hour rule!

I really wish I was making it up but unfortunately not 😬 I think I spent more time in the bathroom than in bed on sat night! 🙁😬

Just keep this thread going and update with all the ridiculous things she says. MN is brilliant at ripping the piss out of pompous tossers, it will take the sting out of it.

ithinkthatmaybeimdreaming · 15/01/2024 19:25

Go to work, hopefully infect her, and start looking for another job!

TheTwirlyPoos · 15/01/2024 19:26

Should have taken a photo of your D&V and sent it to her as evidence

sprigatito · 15/01/2024 19:28

@MumOfCluckers so when your staff are ill, they have to deal with your "suspicion" as well as d&v. Nice. Morale must be sky-high.

The attitudes around illness and work in this country are diabolical.

Three days of work sick.

It's hardly anything. I'm glad people aren't off with anything serious or long term if you're an employer! Horrendous attitude.

MumOfCluckers · 15/01/2024 19:43

@IroningThrone yep a genuine bout of D&V is horrendous.....not knowing if your going to shot yourself while you're puking into the loo, or shitting and holding the obligatory household sick bowl on your lap.

Unfortunately sprigatito the incidents of D&V within my team have always seemed to coincide with not having enough leave, or being denied leave because you're already at skeleton staff etc etc... it seems to be the sicky of choice

CheshireCat1 · 15/01/2024 19:46

Put a big jar of Vaseline on your desk and tell her that your bum is red raw.

IroningThrone · 15/01/2024 19:51

At one point I was on the loo throwing up bile into the sink 🤮🤢😬 my guts still aren't happy - I just farted and gagged at the smell 😳😬

Probiotics ordered for tomorrow!

Lick her face

(jk obviously but like others fingers crossed she catches it just enough to know you're not lying)

rollonretirementfgs · 15/01/2024 20:07

Go off with anxiety! Have that, bitch!

Perfect28 · 15/01/2024 20:14

Are you following the 48hr rule?

Allwelcone · 15/01/2024 20:14

Are they behaving legally not paying you sick pay?
Time for a new job I think. Your boss sounds like a nightmare.

Spicybeanburger · 15/01/2024 20:17

I'd take this as a sign to look for another job. If you ever need anything from them in terms of time off or understanding they won't be there for you. They aren't a good employer. Sorry op. Hope you feel better soon.
