2 landing attempts and still not down.

I think it's windy there

Wonder if London EasyJet will turn. I've got a bloody football run now.

If the plane is red does that mean it landed?

ScoobyDoesnt · 13/01/2024 11:57

Reminds me of flying to Edinburgh a couple of xmases ago on easyJet. Pilot came on the intercom to say it was very windy and no one else was landing, but he was qualified to land in extreme conditions and was going to give it a go (honestly!) otherwise we’d divert to Glasgow alongside everyone else.

We came in sideways and were being buffetted everywhere, the woman next to me kept screaming. Everyone clapped when we got down, even the crew!

cakeorwine · 13/01/2024 11:57

3 more incoming.

Ryanair, Lufthansa and Smart Wings.

And yes - I can do more Cabin Pressure references in possible.

Will there be a Martin talking about landing in a crosswind with an engine fire?

What's going on with the San Francisco to Heathrow flight that means 16,000 people are watching it?

Coldilocks · 13/01/2024 11:58

Did the Copenhagen flight land??

EwwSprouts · 13/01/2024 11:58

Why are 16,000 watching the SFO flight? Just more USA viewers by dint of population?

Walkingtheplank · 13/01/2024 11:58

7700 is an emergency

EwwSprouts · 13/01/2024 11:59

cakeorwine · 13/01/2024 11:59

I see that Austria has an airline called Eidelweiss Air. What a great name!!

Yep, that’s down

Walkingtheplank · 13/01/2024 11:59

titchy · 13/01/2024 11:50

I wonder if the Copenhagen pilot will have told the passengers that no one has yet managed to land but that he's going for it?!

That would help the nervous flyers!!!

From the Norwegian?

If the plane is red does that mean it landed?

I think the red one is the one you’re watching.

notimagain · 13/01/2024 12:00

Freebet · 13/01/2024 11:55

What does this mean?

It means the flight is indicating they have some sort of emergency/needs some sort of priority.

Can be anything from an engine failure through to a sick passenger

BasilParsley · 13/01/2024 12:00

@EwwSprouts It's sent up a 7700 squawk indicates there's a problem with the plane - it's an emergency signal like mayday, mayday, mayday so people are watching to see what happens

TAP1685 seems to have taken off from Porto Santo to give it a go

They seemed to have waited until the Copenhagen flight landed.

Placeinsky · 13/01/2024 12:00

Red one is the one that squawked 7700 (emergency). That's the SFO flight

titchy · 13/01/2024 12:01

7700 is an emergency code. Though tbh mostly they're not major, just flagging with ATC that there's an issue somewhere.

It's a Virgin SanFran to Heathrow.

Walkingtheplank · 13/01/2024 12:01

Must be a lull in the weather as TAP flight in its way from Porto Santo to Funchal.

Inspired by the Copenhagen flight - they took off straight after they’d landed! I’ve got everything crossed!
