2 landing attempts and still not down.

I think it's windy there

Dublin seems to be windy at the moment

Dublin is generally 24 knots out of the south west with gusts south through west up to 41 knots...not great given runway directions available.

Looks like the Warsaw flight is going to Liverpool

The Leeds to Dublin RYR2K flight has just aborted its landing at DUB

BasilParsley · 21/01/2024 13:36

But Malaga -> DUB has managed it.

lunarleap · 21/01/2024 13:36

Is Dublin the airport to watch at the moment?

BasilParsley · 21/01/2024 13:37

@lunarleap it certainly makes for interesting tracking currently

lesdeluges · 21/01/2024 13:46

I'm in Dublin at the moment, and it is dreadful here now. But it will deteriorate about 5pm until 2am, according to the weather alert texted by the Council earlier via our Met Office.

I love watching FR24, been doing it for years, but often forget to log in. It's at times of storms and high winds that I remember! I've been on a few "go around" flights and attempts to land and it is NOT pleasant at all. But it is reassuring to see all the attempts and indeed the go arounds and diversions and realise that pilots are highly trained, they don't want to crash either, and the airline sets limits for landing in high winds, i.e. two or three attempts and then you're off somewhere calmer!

Yep, there were a whole batch of Ryanair aircraft that went into Belfast earlier but now the alternates are a bit more distant, for example it looks like the Krakow-Dublin is going into Edinburgh...

Wonder if there are now handling capacity issues at the nearer alternates?
