2 landing attempts and still not down.

I think it's windy there

@cakeorwine Thank you for the thread, it's been wondeful to have some other FR fans to nerd out with. On an unrelated note, could I, if it's okay, ask you a question?

Why is your username "cakeorwine", normally the decision is cakeandwine, no?

We were on the Porto Santo runway with a TUI flight yesterday. I can’t believe it’s the same one. Poor buggers

It’s weird. It’s rainy here and windy . But not hurricane type winds. I know there’s the downwind from the mountains but it’s not horrific (Obvs I’m not a pilot!)

Looking at the airport reports I'd agree that it's not that really that windy ATM ( 18 knots about half an hour ago) but unfortunately it looks like the direction has swung round into one of the regions where a mandatory 15 knot limit that got discussed earlier today may well apply.....the wind speed may well be varying so whether a flight can land or not will depend on timing...

So Tenerife to Funchal are still trying to land ?

I'm trying to work out if they are going again or just stuck in a hold pattern

YummyCookie · 13/01/2024 22:58

Looks like he is still holding. Another TAP incoming. I hope they don’t come all night. I need to go to bed!

TimeFlying · 13/01/2024 23:00

TUI is heading off somewhere else

Neverwrestlewithapig · 13/01/2024 23:01

There’s an interesting pattern over here…

Looks like both Tap and Tui are off elsewhere! Those poor passengers on the Tui flight they have had a few gos at landing

Walkingtheplank · 13/01/2024 23:02

Oh no, where's TUI going. Those poor passengers.

Just12345 · 13/01/2024 23:02

Tap looks like it could be having a try now

YummyCookie · 13/01/2024 23:02

Poor TUI!

cakeorwine · 13/01/2024 23:04

TUI has just turned again

Just12345 · 13/01/2024 23:06

I have decided tonight Madeira is absolutely off my to visit list!

notimagain · 13/01/2024 23:07

Given TAP are having a go and TUI have turned back I wonder if there's been a drop in the wind..(wind was forecast to reduce through the evening).

Just12345 · 13/01/2024 23:10

Tap has made it ! Come on TUI

TimeFlying · 13/01/2024 23:10

Yes TAP!!!

cakeorwine · 13/01/2024 23:11

TAP straight in

OP posts:
Walkingtheplank · 13/01/2024 23:11

Well done Tap. Let's hope the TUI feels confident to do it too.

cakeorwine · 13/01/2024 23:12

TUI left Tenerife at 9pm.
What a way to spend an evening

Just12345 · 13/01/2024 23:12

I feel so sorry for them all!

cakeorwine · 13/01/2024 23:13

TUI going for it

rainyskylight · 13/01/2024 23:14

tui losing height and aiming in. Come on tui! You can do it!

TimeFlying · 13/01/2024 23:14

They’re giving it a go. C’mon!!!

soupmaker · 13/01/2024 23:14

Willing TUI to make it. Everyone on that flight deserves to land.
