@Sowingbees not normally however I don't know how it would work if you flat out refused to fly. Trouble is if 1 person wants to get off they will have to get everyone off to do a security check of the plane and that's not even taking into account if the person has bags in the hold.
They may be putting pax in hotels and trying tomorrow however if they have crew available it makes financial sense to try and land again as it won't just be this set of pax, it will be the ones booked for the return flight back to the UK as well who will need accommodating. Far cheaper to only have to accommodate a crew in FAO and then the FAO based crew in the UK for one night before booking them flights back home for tomorrow.

I always feel the landing in Basel is like an angry wasp, we seem to come in fast and nose first a lot of times. It makes me think of Bee movie when all the bees flew under the plane and landed it. 😅

I still see the Cologne flight, but it is weirdly stationary.
