I was in a plane that couldn't land @ Funchal in 2022.
After 3 approaches, the pilot landed on Porto Santo - along with 5 or 6 others.
We eventually went to Fuertaventura , spent the night in a hotel being well-fed & watered, & made it to Funchal the next day.

You could see them being blown off course out into thr bay and up they suddenly went. That is not at all fun.
