Probably stupid question about the London eye

DS2 is desperate to go on it for some reason. We have tickets to a show nearby for 6.30. If I book a slot for the Eye at about 3pm will that be ok? I'm aware the time slot is the time to join the queue not get on.

Plenty of time. From memory the queue is 30-45 mins. Half hour ride I seem to remember. And yes the time slot is when you need to join the queue.

Thistooshallpsss · 12/01/2024 19:52

I’ve been and the queue is well managed should be fine

LauderSyme · 12/01/2024 19:57

When I queued it took about two and a half hours to reach the front - but that was a long time ago. I think the 'ride' itself takes 20 minutes.

It was much better when we booked priority or whatever it is that lets you jump the queue, though considerably pricier.

Both times being on the Eye was an amazing experience. I loved the far-reaching views of London and the close up view of the mechanical structure itself was also great.

coffeerevelsrule · 12/01/2024 19:59

Thanks both, but actually I have just picked myself up off the floor having seen the cost - £95 to go on a weekday in Feb when it's likely to be pissing down with poor visibility! I've actually been on it three times, the last time being about 15 years ago. No idea what I paid but won't have been anything like that! Fuck - I'm in shock. No way is it worth that. DS will have to remain desperate I think. I've visited many European cities in over the last decade and pretty sure none of their main attractions cost anything like that.

Greenshake · 12/01/2024 20:01

£95? Are you sure? I just looked at the website and it says tickets start from £25.50 in Feb

Mumdiva99 · 12/01/2024 20:02

Kellogs cereal has 2 for 1 vouchers I think. Might make it more affordable.

LauderSyme · 12/01/2024 20:02

Yeah it's not cheap 😒

Would DS fancy doing a return journey on the IFS Cloud Cable Car near the O2 arena? Also great views: a shorter ride but much cheaper too.

LauderSyme · 12/01/2024 20:04

@Greenshake Maybe OP is multiplying the cost by the number of people in her party?

RocketIceLollie · 12/01/2024 20:04

Yeah it's not cheap but it is worth it. My favourite visitor attraction in London.

Reugny · 12/01/2024 20:05

I went up the Eye in September for my DD birthday as she has been asking for 2 years. You need to search out discount vouchers. We used DPs work related Perks scheme and so they were £27 each off-peak.

There is the Horizon 22 building that is free but you have to book well in advance - horizon22.co.uk/

HelpMebeok · 12/01/2024 20:05

You can get 2 for 1 tickets on lots of supermarket products . You can also use Tesco vouchers

Greenshake · 12/01/2024 20:06

@LauderSyme true. I read it as just her and her son, but it could be more.

coffeerevelsrule · 12/01/2024 20:20

It says 'from £25'. Then when you put the dates in it gives you the actual price, which seems to be at least £75, and was £95 on the day I would be going. It would be three of us going and £95 each! I will see if I can get a code somewhere.

OP posts:
LauderSyme · 12/01/2024 20:21

£95 each! Holy cow that's insane 😮

coffeerevelsrule · 12/01/2024 20:22

£95 for the 3 of us would have been fine - was expecting £50ish each.

Floralnomad · 12/01/2024 20:23

We’ve been on it a few times when we had Merlin passes and frankly I wouldn’t pay more than £10 , it’s so dull . Much preferred the Shard personally .

coffeerevelsrule · 12/01/2024 20:28

Hmm, didn't know you could go up the Shard. It looks good is £85 for the three of us but would be just me and two teens and it looks like more of an adult experience.

OP posts:
EasterMummie · 12/01/2024 20:29

I agree, the price isn't worth it IMO. Especially if you book in advance & then the day you go the weather/visability isn't great.
If you can get a reasonable discount code, great, but otherwise there are so many better things to spend your money on I think.

FayK · 12/01/2024 20:30

Are you sure that’s not the price for the three of you? £95 is the price for 2x adults and 1x child for most dates in Feb. Check you are on the official website and not a third party or a scammer site. Have you considered Sky Garden? Great views and it’s free!

notanaturalmum · 12/01/2024 20:33

We went last week (sat). Tickets were 3.30. That's when we joined the queue.
Got onto the eye at 5.30 and it was dark by then so it was dark unfortunately but still looked nice.
I think timings will be tight for you.

Oldieandgoldie · 12/01/2024 20:33

I agree with the O2 cable car, and if you’re not a scaredy cat (like me😳), teens will have great fun making the car rock😮😳😉😄!

Newwindows · 12/01/2024 20:34

Look up Sky Garden - it’s free but you need to book. Fabulous views not massively different to the Shard.

notanaturalmum · 12/01/2024 20:34

We got a family discount with picniq
£75 for 2 adults and 2 kids.

Crunchymum · 12/01/2024 20:34

I've found tickets for £87 (for 3 people, at 3pm on Thursday 8th Feb)

Where an Earth are you finding £95pp?

Jessforless · 12/01/2024 20:36

You can absolutely get it cheaper than £95 pp!
