I’m definitely in the BORED camp @HPLikecraft , but the likely improvements inside are keeping me much more motivated as I think they’re of most importance to me.

SchoolQuestionnaire · 23/01/2024 21:10

I’m still on the wagon. Still not really missing it but I’m out with the girls next month and that’s when I think I’ll get a real pang. I’ll drive so no danger of me cracking but I think it might be the first time I feel like I’m missing out. I’d find a February thread helpful too.

vinoandbrie · 23/01/2024 21:16

Checking in, another day done, I’m stressed but ok. Didn’t even think about having a drink, so that’s a positive!

Piglet89 · 23/01/2024 22:16

Had a huge craving this evening and almost cracked but resisted. It washed over me like a wave but also like a wave, it did break.

still sober. 😃

Rassy · 23/01/2024 22:27

Like @FlyingPandas I find the weekends a drag without a relaxing drink. Haven't lost any weight either Confused Also, it is the longest I have gone AF since I care to remember....

This Friday night will be a test as meeting up with my 'boozy' friends. However out of the 5 of us 3 are doing DJ so hopefully won't be too testing!

Saturday night am at a ceilidh and am the designated driver. Probably best to be AF at a ceilidh as drink plus being spun around can be unpleasant! Grin

december2020 · 23/01/2024 23:01

Checking in and still AF.
I too am in the bored camp, especially during the weekends.
But it also makes me wonder if I need new hobbies or something.

And it also made me wonder if I'm just a lazy boring person.

A lot to think about.

Checking in for day 21 for me! I haven't been finding it too bad &, like others, have been thinking about how I want to go forward.
One of my issues is DH who loves to unwind at the weekend over several drinks. He has been doing dry Jan with me but is very insistent that he will finish on the 2nd whereas I want to continue you to the 3rd as I want to do the full month (we started 3rd Jan).
He has got into a bit of a hump about me not wanting to join him for drinks that night. Which leads me on to future plans - I don't want to fall into the rut of drinking every Friday and Saturday night & having a mild hangover all weekend but that will annoy DH if I go dry. I can try to moderate (which DH is better at) but that is my big trigger.

He really needs to be more supportive. I feel like you reach an age where you realise you can't go on drinking every weekend forever and you shouldn't be persuaded into it if you don't particularly want to.

Still here and still dry (although am a day behind a lot of you because I didn't start until the 2nd Jan so I'll add on the 1st Feb as well).

Am craving it less as the month goes on, but like some others I'm just finding it a bit dull - evenings just a bit samey and no clear distinction between weekday and weekend nights.

Am planning to drink just one night per week as of February - my problem is I can't stop at a glass or two, generally if I open a bottle I'm finishing it 🤦‍♀️

Everyone's doing so well! This thread has been a huge help, thanks so much OP for starting it and to you and everyone for keeping it going ❤️

Still waiting for the magical clear skin and removal of puffy eyes etc Envy

Neptunium93 · 24/01/2024 12:36

Thanks for the update HPLikecraft. 75% is a fantastic milestone.

Last night was difficult in the end as I was anxious and a little bored, which is an odd combination. Horrible weather, and a leaking roof / uncommunicative roofer lowered my mood. None of the alts were appealing, and a glass of wine would have gone down nicely. There was no way I was going to have one, but interesting to note the triggers. Kept busy with some sewing in front of the TV.

Wintersun9 · 24/01/2024 12:56

I'll happily accept my silver award and take my leave this weekend to meet with friends & with a strong resolve to alternate drinks with AF. I have 3 gold awards from previous years & to all those intending to complete the whole month stay with it because it really is worth it.
Thanks for the thread OPs, really appreciated ❤️

HPLikecraft · 24/01/2024 15:27

Have a great time this weekend @Wintersun9 and thanks for joining us on the DJ2024 wagon.
Four weeks AF is pretty marvellous 👏🏼

75% woohoo!! Chewing up those milestones now, the early days of dry mouth and waiting to hit the magic 10% mark seem a lifetime ago 💪🏻

asleepattheshop · 24/01/2024 18:00

just lying in the bath drinking Sentia with Fever Tree lemonade over ice - favourite way to drink it so far - off out to my book club tonight with some AF beer.🍺 Feeling good!!

Wilkolampshade · 24/01/2024 18:04

Oh goodness I'm sooooo sorry, and sooooo proud of myself and all of you but blimey, would I love a delicious glass of a fat, round, complex burgundy now.... Or frankly, even a bad one from the corner shop.

BUT, deep breaths, not gonna have one. No way. Not today. Nopeitty nope nope.

HPLikecraft · 24/01/2024 18:17

You absolutely are not @Wilkolampshade , or I'll be having a quiet word with you.

@wellitywellness I have a busy brain too - I suspect I have ADHD. Ds has been diagnosed and has chosen the drug route so has low dose amphetamines. When I researched the impact of the drugs - the thinking was that people who take amphetamines for their ADHD are less likely to get addicted to other substances because they aren’t trying to self medicate to quiet their brain. I’ve been very tempted to try his meds but I’m too scared 😱 😎

Really wanted a glass of red yesterday - it was cold, wet and windy and a couple of glasses of wine would have gone down a treat in the evening.

It was green tea instead. Didn't really hit the spot but with a week to go I'm not caving now.

Wilkolampshade · 24/01/2024 19:33

@HPLikecraft don't worry, 😂, I won't. Thank God for Peroni 0%.

gingercat02 · 24/01/2024 19:49

Wine Wednesday has been giving me grief all day today. I've got a poorly teenager, and it's been a long week at work already.

I've been to pilates and waiting not patiently for dinner, so it's roo late to start now. Stay strong people 💪

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 24/01/2024 20:34

I joined on 2 Jan so it's 74.19% for me but I'm rounding that up to 75%. So ner.

Am craving it less as the month goes on, but like some others I'm just finding it a bit dull - evenings just a bit samey and no clear distinction between weekday and weekend nights

Yeah this. Haven't actually craved it - just wobbled briefly a few times. I'm more in awe of my several decades sober DB than ever.

GinintheBin · 24/01/2024 20:52

Still in it to win it. Can't believe there's only a week to go!

pollyannaperspective · 24/01/2024 21:09

So, one week to go, felt tempted earlier when cooking and recipe needed some white wine. Poured the remains of the 'one serve' (yeah right) can away before the 'just a sip won't hurt' could take hold.
So dinner was lovely, I remain AF but clearly need to be vigilant. Day 24 done.
Hope everyone else is OK.
