Stranded on a desert island...you can pack 10 things...

But! The island has UK weather.

I would take:

  1. Below knee raincoat (new one from Baleno I'd happily live in)
  2. Dog walking boots (lasted 3 years, from Canada)
  3. 1 spare pair pants (wash 1 wear 1), sod the bra!
  4. Jumper (Uniqlo one that never seems to bobble or stretch and very warm)
  5. T shirt (thick one from a Japanese K Mart 2 years ago as above)
  6. Dog (dubious protection but would keep me warm on cold nights and company)
  7. Medicate moisturising cream with SPF30 (very dry skin so although a tent might appear to be a sensible option I'd be miserable without this)
  8. My Swiss Army knife
  9. Turkish towel (these things are just too multi-functional not to!)
  10. My wind up torch/Radio/light

It's annoying how much has to be taken up with clothes, right? So, choose wisely/quality!
Go!

Big tent

Multipleexclamationmarks · 09/01/2024 22:27

Flint lighter to start fires
Big pot to cook on/boil water in
Tent
Solar charger
Mp3 player
(Then provided clothes have to be included in the 10 things...)
Warm waterproof coat

SecondChancesAtLife · 09/01/2024 22:31

My oodie and 9 bottles of champagne.

whatausername · 09/01/2024 22:34

A fireplace from Harry Potter so I can apparate away in this weird world. Or a firearm and some bullets because who the hell wants to be stuck in one place for life.

Falkenburg · 09/01/2024 22:44

Presumably we would arrive in underwear and clothes and each wearing a waterproof watch.

My husband
Dryrobe
Lipstick.
Magnifying mirror to signal aircraft.
Golf umbrella.
Toothpaste
Vaseline
Cup
Sun cream
Wide tooth comb.

My husband would have -
Swiss Army knife that includes scissors and a nail clipper and file
wind up torch
string
Dryrobe
soap
satellite phone on full charge
axe
Saw
waterproof tent.
First aid box

That’s cheating!

Dammit, I forgot socks...
Now, the champagne and the HP fireplace I could get behind, or in.
Just realised how wise the choice of Champers is - no corkscrew required!

I don't know if you can take a partner Hmm. Seems to double your lot to me!
I also think you only get 1 set of clothes. I imagined just wearing pants, appearing on the island and only having 10 "wishes" for items.

Wet suit shoes
Suncreen
Plastic sheeting
Rope
Knife
Flint fire lighter

Changing destinations midway? Having phones with battery?

I was hoping we'd get more people willing to stay and begin Lord of The Flies style exploration. Or knitters. Usually someone wants to take to knitting something weird and wonderful - i'll even throw in both needles for the price of 1 item 😁

Campervan is inspired (as was the previous summoning of a yacht, although I'm huffy that you would use it to escape)

Also thinking Yorkshire teabags are possibly also a necessity. But I'd need a cow to milk then...maybe not.

Bravo @BassoContinuo ! We have our first crafter! I am imagining an infinite supply of chunky knit/crochet wear and possibly crocheted pants/shoes/hats/tents?

I'd rather drink tea with no milk than no tea at all 😁

ChangedCircumstances · 09/01/2024 23:38

@barkymcbark you are going to be a little chilly!

I see someone already thought of the cow. Interestingly not on the same list as the Yorkshire teabags. I see potential for cheese though, which is very wise.
