About bloody time! 😡

Bluevelvetsofa · 09/01/2024 15:23

She has done the right thing, but very late and she really had no alternative. I don’t know how she could stand in a pulpit and preach.

Westfacing · 09/01/2024 15:23

Hard to believe the erstwhile dame was also an Anglican priest during these prosecutions!

NetballHoop · 09/01/2024 15:24

It would have been better if she'd been stripped of it. By giving it up on her own she gets to portray herself as a better person than she is.

All too believable tbh.

I agree

Mischance · 09/01/2024 15:27

It is rather sad that it takes a TV drama before people start taking notice and beginning to do the things that should have been done years ago - the government is hopping about suggesting a change in legislation to make the convictions void; and a speeding up of compensation. Why now for goodness' sake when they have known all this for years?

Enough to make you cynical ..........

LakeTiticaca · 09/01/2024 15:28

Now put her and her cohorts up in front of the beak

IAcceptCookies · 09/01/2024 15:31

Urgh, despicable human being.
I wonder if she lies in bed thinking about the suicides and innocent people put in prison under her watch at the Post Office.
Somehow I doubt it.

bendmeoverbackwards · 09/01/2024 15:32

Awful woman. Does she have a church/congregation? Why isn’t she publicly condemned?? All those lives she has wrecked, she should be in prison.

She's no longer in the church

She's culpable of either being so incompetent in her job that she couldn't see what was going on or knew and was complicit. Either way she doesn't deserve an honour.

She wasn't the only one responsible but I have zero sympathy for her, it's been obvious to anyone with a fraction of a brain for years that there wasn't a sudden uprising of criminals in the sleepy post offices of the land

JenniferJupiterVenusandMars · 09/01/2024 15:47

It’s taken madam long enough ffs!
Zero sympathy for her, irresponsible woman.

JimBobsWife · 09/01/2024 15:50

There is so much that's wrong with the PO scandal - no-one comes out of this with a clear conscience except Alan Bates and the sub-postmasters.

Interestingly, I heard yesterday that Adam Crozier who was head of Royal Mail (and therefore involved) has hardly been mentioned and was not featured in the ITV drama. Guess where he used to work... (ITV in case you were wondering)

How much money did she make before handing back the ";honour"??

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 09/01/2024 15:55

Big of her 🙄 She's 'listened,' has she? better late than never, I guess, alto IME anyone with a shred of integrity wouldn't have had to listen, they'd have handed it back.

You're not getting a pass from this shitshow just because of this, Vennells.

AndThatWasNY · 09/01/2024 15:56

I can fully believe she was a priest. It sums up everything I have come to expect from the church.

'Handing it back' is purely show - the honour is only officially removed by instruction from the King. Hopefully (surely?!) this will also happen soon.

I think she had to give that up too.

Westfacing · 09/01/2024 16:05

One of the poor victims was only 19 years old, Tracy Felstead - she went to prison!

Imagine that, just 19.

No she doesn’t. She had to be publicly shamed into it. She should never have accepted it in the first place.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/01/2024 16:08

She's no longer in the church

She's still an Anglican priest, albeit one who 'resigned – under pressure – from her duties'.

I know. It makes me sick thinking about those innocent people in prison.

And the woman who became so depressed she had to have ECT.

Paula Vennells has been the main person blamed for this long before ITV came along, I dont know exactly why, maybe because she was in charge when it mainly started to go legal

Royal Mail is a totally different organization to the Post Office, why do you think they were involved?

VegetablesFightingToReclaimTheAubergieneEmoji · 09/01/2024 16:16

Why are Fujitsu still being given contracts. Why aren’t they being forced to hand over money. Whilst there’s no doubt she’s culpable, she’s not solely responsible and the sole witch hunt worries me, there’s plenty more responsible who need to be pressured into apologising
