Something just happened and I have no explanation for it

Six years ago I was in Belfast (I live in the North of England) and I lost my debit card, I cancelled the card and got a new one. I know for a fact I lost it there because it was in my purse (It was my only card and the one I had been using on my trip to Belfast) and I left my bag on a bus and never got it back.

Today I had a new couch and chair delivered, When the delivery guys left I took the seat cushions off the couch (It’s the kind you can move the cushions and swap them around etc) and there was a debit card there, Picked it up and its the exact one I lost in Belfast six years ago.

Never even sat on this couch yet so it’s not like it fell out of my pocket, because I don’t have any pockets and I don’t have the same clothes I had six years ago, Since losing the card I have decorated my entire flat, All the rooms were empty with no furniture etc as I got it all done room by room, The couch arrived today and the debit card was in the couch.

I’m trying to figure out how this happened and to be honest I'm stumped!

Anything strange like this happened to someone else? Did you ever figure it out?

Does anyone think that a person might make this up, post it then sit back and watch the fun?

Or in this case, dereg and feck off.

Atsocta · 10/01/2024 19:39

That's very weird to say the least 🫤

I don’t know what ‘dereg and feck off’ means but I suppose you mean just ignore it. Probably the most sensible thing to do.

Iiquidsnake · 10/01/2024 19:42

That's........ clearly bullshit

Nah, that never happens

After my grandparents died my family and I were sorting out their home. My brother was in the house alone on one occasion looking through some old photos but couldn't find a particular one. He searched and searched. He went into another room and when he went back into the lounge the photo was sitting on top of the pile of photos. Bizarre and no rational explanation for it!

Iiquidsnake · 10/01/2024 19:46

Here's a rational explanation, he didn't notice it the first time

AIBU to think that all the coincidences on here relating to lost and found objects can be attributed to Welsh mice? 🐭

Sorry. I meant the OP deregistered and left the site. MN confirmed this in their post.

I used to work for a company that allowed you to use this cottage as a holiday home. The cottage was about an hour's drive away and you had to call the house keeper/cleaner first to make arrangement regarding the key. Anyhow went on holiday, returned home and my brother asked me how my holiday had gone. Turns out he was working on the house keepers house as she was on the phone to me making arrangements and took my name down, which he heard! Very strange

Nannyseaside · 10/01/2024 20:31

The person who ended up with your card, sat on the couch, the card fell out of their pocket, and down the gap of the cushions,it just coincidence and the logical explanation, nothing spooky involved.

LittleMissSleepyUK · 10/01/2024 20:42

I once lost my purse and cards. Hunted high and low. Reported everything missing etc. About a year later it was found in my hallway out in the open. It would’ve been noticed if it had been there all the time and obviously had been hoovered and tidied and stuff in that time.

These things are just so weird

Needafriend14 · 10/01/2024 21:02

My lovely mum passed away in July needless to say I was devastated.I knew Christmas would be a struggle. As I was taking decorations out of the loft I began to cry I spoke out loud saying 'I miss you so much mum' I carried on removing the decorations from the box and to my amazement found a photograph of me and mum laughing together. The thing is I cannot for the life of me remember this photo being taken and it certainly wasn't there last year when I packed the decorations away.It made my Christmas much better.

You also NEED to post it in the sub Reddit Glitch In The Matrix… they will adore it!

aww what a lovely thing to happen, your dear Mum is without a doubt still with you ❤️ treasure that photo forever…

PossumintheHouse · 09/01/2024 14:17

Well that’s a batshit glitch in the matrix. 😳

Isn't it though? The ONLY thing I can think of is that someone found the purse, kept the card (even after learning that it had been cancelled), and either they, or someone that they came into contact with who took the card), worked at the furniture store and somehow, all those years later, dropped it inadvertently into the couch cushions. But I think the odds of being struck by lightning would be higher!

Allinarow48 · 11/01/2024 02:37

The weirdest thing that's ever happened to me:

I was having coffee with a friend in my kitchen and we were randomly discussing music, which led to The Dubliners and Luke Kelly's version of Patrick Kavanaghs "Raglan Road". I said I loved the lyric in the third verse:

"And I said, let grief be a fallen leaf at the dawning of the day"

So maybe ten minutes later we decide to go for a walk and leave the house, we walk to the park. Maybe 20 mins later two women pass us chatting in mid conversation. One was gesturing to the other saying:

"And I said, let grief be a fallen leaf at the dawning of the day."

At the moment they passed. As though she was reciting "Raglan Road" to her friend.

My friend and I looked at each other and she said "let's pretend that never happened."

I still think about it all the time.

ScottishShortie · 11/01/2024 10:07

Omg I’m not joking, this is similar but not as bizarre- I lost my debit card too, searched the house, retraced steps, called local shop where last used it….we have a conservatory which is locked. I had already checked in there then locked the door to go out. When I came back home the door was unlocked and the debit card poking out of the sofa cushions. No one else was in house so couldn’t have pranked me.

Totemoneru · 11/01/2024 10:26

Some questions!

Where was the couch delivered from?

Do you have children?

Do you have a partner that likes to wind you up?

MN confirmed days ago that the OP de registered and left the site, so won't be answering any questions.

I love how people make stuff up just to try and shoehorn in some kind of totally improbable explanation when it's not explainable and completely true.

It’s more probable that there’s a logical explanation than that is something supernatural. Most likely is that the card was in her house somewhere all along. Could’ve been wedged somewhere and fallen into the couch as it was brought in. The delivery man could have seen it on the floor or something and put it on the couch then forgotten to tell her. It will be something like that.

I saw a story recently about a man who had a tool shed which only he worked in, and it was locked every night, but every day when he came in everything from the night before had been tidied up. There were no signs of entry. Everything was still locked. You might say that’s unexplainable too, but when he set up a camera it turned out there was a mouse putting all his screws and tools back into the toolbox every night 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ so weird, but more likely than the supernatural.

I just commented same thing happened my mum and I!
