Pregnant women who say they “just want to stay at home and nest”, I just instantly imagine a pregnant woman in one of her husbands baggy sweatshirts and lularoe leggings astride a nest in the lounge made from scatter cushions. Concerning parenthood as well I can’t bear the term ‘play date’, what happened to kids just having Darren over after school or Kelly going round Lucy’s for tea, where’s this formal play date crap come from. It kind of makes me feel kids aren’t allowed out these days unless escorted in an armoured van to someone’s house for their play date!

I think it's probably an 'Americanism', like so many other infuriating words. I live in the north and local dialect has always interested me. I feel like my kids' generation has been taken over by Americanisms, but maybe that's just because I'm getting old!

Go no contact

Arghhhhh it's just NOT English. !!

I have stopped contact with ..
I no longer contact...
I have decided that I will not be contacting..

How hard is that. ?

would it make you feel better if it were "go no-contact"?

and actually I take issue with your next statement. It is quintessentially English to do this sort of thing.
