I've just come downstairs after drinking my first cuppa in bed, for a change. Both girls are awake, but not up yet. I've got a hot coffee & am going to drink it while I scroll, after taking some paracetamol for the headache I have, and putting the pork for tea in the slow cooker.

Plan for the day is varnish the heads of my latest peg people, finish off 2 more peg people and actually crochet the stone for the avocado that I didn't get round to yesterday.

Will also give both girls a nudge to tidy their rooms, and check over their homework.

Pork for tea, maybe as a roast, I fancy roast spuds, and then early showers all round.

Tonight I'll read some more of my book or solve some more Murdle murders then have an early night. Both girls will be in bed early too ready for school and college tomorrow - that's just reminded me, I need to get my work pass out too!

What about all of you? 🙂🧐

I've been up for about 2 hours - fed the squirrels and birds, put some washing on the line, spent too long on Facebook, sent a couple of emails. Lunch will be a roast beef dinner - meat is in the slow-cooker. Son and family are here for that. Probably take the little GC to the park. Later, I'll do a bit of ironing, then have a glass of wine and watch something on Netflix

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 07/01/2024 10:17

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I like the sound of roast pork. I've been up since eight but I'm being lazy. I shall do an ironing soon and wash floors. I managed to knock over a glass of water in the night and had to mop it up. That woke me up fully and it took ages to get back to sleep, so a lazy day ahead. I have a friend phoning later for a chat. Trout with orange and toasted almonds for dinner tonight. Enjoy your day

OldTinHat · 07/01/2024 10:25

Morning @lucysmam and all!

I'm going to watch the last four episodes of Fool Me Once, give the house a tidy and maybe start on a cross stitch kit I bought myself before Christmas. So a lazy day.

Very happy seeing the sun shining today - finally!

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 07/01/2024 10:28

Morning all, on our second coffee in bed, my plan is to put all last years bulbs into pots ready for spring, do a bit more tidying out in the garden too, run the hoover round, and finish putting the boxes of Christmas stuff up into the loft, and then we also are having roast pork this evening. Might try and fit in some knitting for a blanket I'm making for a baby due in March.

ThreeRingCircus · 07/01/2024 10:30

Morning everyone. I've been up since 6am when DD2 wet the bed. Her bedding is now in the washing machine and we're having a lazy morning otherwise. DDs are watching cartoons and DH and I are eating marmite on toast with cups of tea. I've been reading my magazine and scrolling MN.

We're planning a walk later as the weather is actually dry for once and probably a stop at the local café for a hot chocolate.

Roast gammon for dinner then it will be baths and into pyjamas ready for back to work tomorrow.

PermanentTemporary · 07/01/2024 10:33

Morning @lucysmam and all, loving to hear about the crochet.

I've had a real lie in, emailed a relative after too long, and at some point I will make myself go and see my mum. She is very unwell and it's a difficult situation.

Tonight I might make parsnip and carrot soup, we had it a week ago from a Waitrose recipe where you roast the veggies with maple syrup and it's v good.

Justonedayatatime11 · 07/01/2024 10:34

Still in bed. DH has just bought me a cup of coffee, DD is reading in her bedroom. Need to put some washing on, do some GF baking for lunches next week and find a decent website to order some pick and mix from as I'm really craving it. I think we're having salt beef for tea but depends how the day goes. Also craving cake...

CharmedCult · 07/01/2024 10:37

Had a lazy cuppa, DH is about to walk the dog.

We are taking DS back to uni today so I’m just about to iron the last of his clean washing (yes I know he can do it himself but I like the satisfaction of sending him back with a suitcase full of clean ironed nice smelling clothes!). We’ll set off about 12pm and be home by 3pm.

Gammon in the slow cooker for tea, I’m going to do cauliflower cheese and mash to go with it.

DH and I will have a quiet afternoon preparing for the week ahead.

Decafflatteplease · 07/01/2024 10:48

Morning @lucysmam and all!

Last Sunday of the holiday here 😭 no one wants to go back to school tomorrow!

Slow morning here, I got up with DC as It was DH turn for a lie in, food shop came so got that away, got a load of laundry on and one in tbe tumble dryer, all the humdrum morning chores really!

I've just popped a gammon in the slow cooker, our butchers had them half price yesterday, leftovers from Christmas so got 1.5kg for £5 so am pleased with that. Having it with roast parsnips, cauli cheese, potato gratin (ready made!) There seems to be a few of us doing slow cookers today it's so cold I think cosy meals are needed!

Need to sort out DC school bags and find lunchboxes etc and polish shoes.

I really want to get out this afternoon for a walk as it's sunny and crisp and frosty so beautiful.

Aforementioned gammon for dinner then I'm looking forward to a lovely hot bath this evening Ive got a lush cinnamon bath bomb for Christmas I really want to use. Then hopefully an early night although I already feel a bit anxious about back to school tomorrow so hopefully I'll be able to switch off and sleep 💤

CatalogueOnVinylFlooring · 07/01/2024 10:50

DH and DS have just gone to do Junior Parkrun, me and dog are chilling in bed. Then up, lunch and a nice walk in the countryside. Back for spaghetti bolognaise, showers and ironing DS uniform ready for his first day back tomorrow.

ShipshapeShore · 07/01/2024 10:52

Doesn't the dryer brighter weather make a difference?!

I've sorted out for back to school and booked a lash and brow tint thanks to the princessing thread! House is relatively clean and tidy so just need to dry the clothes that are currently washing. Right now I'm enjoying a decaf coffee and thinking about crocheting a cactus later (don't know where the urge came from but I really want to!)

Having a day with family today so that will be nice. I'm determined to stick to Dry Jan even though I know there's going to be wine. I'm focussing on how I'll feel drinking Vs not drinking and knowing I'll be better for it.

Tonight1 · 07/01/2024 11:00

Morning.

@OldTinHat it was very cold here first thing and my fingers got nipped at, but some sun now out!

I woke up really early and was quite annoyed because some pain which had cleared up had returned. Seems to be easing now so I'm lucky it looks to be temporary.

Email this morning from a man I really adore, it can never go anywhere as we live too far apart (and he might not like me like that anyway!) but he's a really decent person and we agree on so much. However I'm not ending up in a field in Aberdeenshire. I'd sent him details of a song and he said he'd listen to it but afterwards I thought he might think I'm a bit dark as the lyrics are.

Spot of shopping today, yep that's it.

troppibambini6 · 07/01/2024 11:03

Morning @lucysmam and everyone else.

I sat in the sofa with a coffee it's been a slow start to the morning. Two ds are doing there homework and going to head into town with dh if feels up to it. He's been sick and upset tummy.

Dd1 is moving around making breakfast and dd2 is in the shower getting ready.

I've promised to do some drills in the garden with dd2 for her netball matches today. We will be out all afternoon at netball.
I also need to have a tidy up and sort uniform for tomorrow.

LastnightIDreamedofManderley · 07/01/2024 11:53

I slept in until 11 which I’m a bit miffed about as I did set my alarms for 9! I don’t like sleeping in too late with work the next day as it makes it difficult for me to get an early night.
However, just about to go and make scrambled egg and tomato on toast for lunch.
Then, I’m determined to have a day of reading books/crochet as I always end up spending far too long on my phone scrolling!

Thislittlekitten · 07/01/2024 12:08

Afternoon everyone. We had a real late start to the day. Very unusual. DH made a nice breakfast.

We are now getting ready to go visit a local attraction. It’s outside but feel we all need a blast of fresh air. DD has been ill in bed for a few days. She needs outside for a bit.

Back to school for the kids tomorrow. They will be in for a shock. So uniforms and bags to be sorted this afternoon.

Not sure about tea yet. I need to do some ironing and might try an episode of Fool Me Once. I don’t usually watch much tv but everyone is raving about this so will try it.

Whattheduck · 07/01/2024 12:13

Still in bed I have the flu and bronchitis been in bed since Friday been listening to podcasts and reading and feeling sorry for myself
I missed my DD’s birthday meal on Friday and a bottomless brunch yesterday
Dd and her boyfriend are taking the dog out whilst Dh goes food shopping

Cupcakes2024 · 07/01/2024 12:16

Exchanging Intel and having a cuppa tea at tescos with my gchq analyst friend

Oneearringlost · 07/01/2024 12:17

Christmas decs down, sad!
But we have a lot! Alpine scenes, snowy village scenes, two trees, garlands...its a right pain, which is why I've needed a little sit down to scroll through mumsnet....

mrsbyers · 07/01/2024 12:19

Watching gold rush just put the washer and dishie on and some bacon in the airfryer for a buttie

Still recovering from lurgy and starting work tomorrow so some tidying up and sorting out some Christmas stuff that’s been left and going to watch last two episodes of 1883 later once husband is up and about

SadlyACupOfTeaDoesNotSolveEverything · 07/01/2024 12:19

Just had a long bath with a face mask. About to dry my hair, put on something cosy and go a walk with DH, DD’s and meet up with DD’s friends family for coffee.

twistyizzy · 07/01/2024 12:22

Did horse and first dog walk at 6am and just got home after finishing a gundog training session.
Come home to find DD has been taken out by a friend for bowling + skating.
Hoping to sneak in a nap on sofa soon.
This afternoon will endeavour to ride horse after a 3 month break with zero motivation however he is clipped and in desperate need of bringing back into work.
DH is making leek and Stilton soup for tea.

devildeepbluesea · 07/01/2024 12:23

Morning everyone!

Had a big night out last night, but was still up fairly early. I’m a total lark. ran/walked over to next town where I had left my car, collected DDog from DD and ExDH who were dog sitting for me, then took him for a run on the beach, which was lovely. Then I came home, did my weights programme and nipped to Tesco. I’m determined to stick to my healthy eating despite a mild hangover so I’m making Quorn bolognese for tea.

Just eaten 2 boiled eggs, now heading for a shower. Will take Ddog out again later, but not much else planned now. I’m back to work after a bit of time off tomorrow, so I’m gearing up for that most reluctantly.

oneuponedown · 07/01/2024 12:24

I love hearing about everyone's days :).

I'm up, meat also in the slow cooker. One load of laundry done and currently in the
Drier. I've played wirh dc and changed bedding, sorted uniforms etc for week ahead and hoovered around upstairs.

Will be having lunch soon, then out for a walk/ bike ride in the lovely sunshine- it really does make a huge difference. Home for a comforting dinner, baths then I'm hoping to get some reading done tonight plus Netflix by the fire before back to work tomorrow!

Pinenu · 07/01/2024 12:31

I thought about these threads over Christmas, after not visiting for a very long time it just popped into my head. I find them so soothing, not sure why.

VenusClapTrap · 07/01/2024 12:48

Hello. I took the dc to their fencing class this morning, now having a post lunch cuppa before facing chores. I need to put away all the Christmas gubbins which is still sitting in piles on the rug in the music room waiting to be packed up and carried up to the attic. Clearly nobody else will do that, so it’s on me. I love doing the decorating, hate the big Put Away.

Also need to make ds clean out the fish while I wash and restock the bird feeders ready for the cold snap. If there’s any daylight left after that I’ll sort through the bulbs that have been sitting in their paper bags since September, waiting in vain for the ground to be dry enough for planting. There might be some that aren’t mouldy and are still worth bungjng in the ground.
