I am caring for 5 week old twins. Dream feed done, so now with luck they will sleep for a few hours.

Are you on a night shift?

My sleep pattern has gone awol this week as it was my mums funeral. I can't stop thinking about her and I'm both physically and mentally exhausted but I'm only managing a few hours at a time. I fell asleep on the sofa at 8pm and was encouraged to go up to bed. I then woke at 11.30 and now can't sleep

I'm sorry for your loss @MinnieMotor 🙏🏽

Badtrampoline · 06/01/2024 01:58

DD 3.5 woke me and now I can hear my heart thumping in my ear and I feel mildly panicked which is normally a sign my BP is high.
going to play mini metro which normally sends me off.
Ive been taking an ashwangarda supplement so im expecting crazy dreams when I drift back off.

Insomnia which has got worse recently.

Am listening to the World Service.

Mumofsix38 · 06/01/2024 01:59

Neighbours were blasting music! So gave in and watched Saltburn as my daughter demanded I did. Loved it!!!

Tarkan · 06/01/2024 02:01

So sorry to all those going through a bereavement.

I'm in the middle of a fibro flare and I ended up having a nap this evening so of course I'm wide awake and in a lot of pain now. So I'm binge watching Christmas University Challenge to try and tire my brain out.

Infracat · 06/01/2024 02:01

@DyslexicPoster Whoa that’s a lot. Thanks for outlining your experiences. Like you I’m naturally a sceptic but - strange things do occur! Without explanation. Off with you to Ikea for a new bed!

I think your right. It's beautiful but it does seem to feature in a lot of the woo stuff. I'm wondering what it's history is now. We bought it off a Dr with a massive house. But it was kept in a shed?! It's this one so not even that old.

Love to all of you suffering tonight and congratulations to all the new babies.

I am an insomniac and have always been. DS is the same. I have no hope today as after a visit to the Trafford Centre and walking what appeared to be a hundred miles (I hate the place) I got home and fell asleep on the sofa - totally unheard of for me. So it's going to be a long wide awake night!

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 06/01/2024 02:02

headache · 06/01/2024 02:04

Some of these are so sad sorry to anyone hurting emotionally or physically

mine is just plain old insomnia caused by a mixture of chronic pain, anxiety and stress I’ve been off my phone for over an hour in a bid to sleep but can’t so have picked it up again

Oh gosh in the middle of the night you poor thing!

annonymousse · 06/01/2024 02:10

Went to bed 2 hours ago. Just laid there in the dark wide awake but trying to sleep and listening to DH snoring. It doesn't keep me awake normally but I've got a sore hip. I've just finally given up and come downstairs for painkillers and a hot drink. It's annoying but I can sleep in tomorrow so not the end of the world.

Sorry for everyone grieving. We are approaching the first anniversary of my dads death. It was about this time last year that he really started to deteriorate and I had the call that it was time to go and be with him. He died in February. His last weeks were harrowing. I miss him.

I am sorry to read about people’s bad news on this thread. Know that there is someone out there thinking of you and hoping for better times for you.

Mammyloveswine · 06/01/2024 02:20

Goodiesandtreats · 06/01/2024 02:22

So sorry to hear of those with bad news or having hard times. I'm up decorating cakes for DS's party. Next year it will be from Tesco's!

DramaAlpaca · 06/01/2024 02:23

Thinking of all of you going through tough times Flowers

As for me, I'm a natural night owl so it's normal for me to be awake now.

AndAway · 06/01/2024 02:26

I'm lying awake with my beloved dog beside me. He had a really bad fall today and has come home with us for the night but is in a bad way. We're back at the vets first thing and I'm scared we will need to say goodbye to him.

He's only 5 and usually a bundle of energy.

Macandcheeese · 06/01/2024 03:24

My 2 month old screams night and day refusing to fall asleep. Somehow she managed a 3 hour nap today but woke up at half 7 last night and is still screaming now. No matter how many times I rock her she wakes back up.
I've considered just walking out when my husband comes home from his friends tomorrow morning (I won't) but I'm at my absolute wits end not being able to do anything but attempt over & over to comfort a screaming baby.
It was my choice to have a baby (she's my 3rd) but oh my god it's crossed my mind many times why did I do this?? I cannot cope.

Turquoisa80 · 06/01/2024 03:30

I stupidly had 2 cans of pepsi max. I've always suffered with broken sleep since I was young though

Yellowsubmarineunderthesea · 06/01/2024 03:39

Woke up & started chatting/txting to DH on nightshift and then to DD who recently moved to Australia

TheMouseholeCat · 06/01/2024 04:01

On a run of insomnia here too. I do find it comforting knowing I’m not the only one awake in the world! Sorry to those who are hurting.

20Twenty4 · 06/01/2024 04:07

I've had a total of roughly 1.5hrs sleep tonight. DS1 has had me up singing to him whilst he nodded back off (which took over an hour). He's had a terrible cold for MONTHS and it's really affecting his sleep. He finally dropped off and I'd no sooner climbed back into bed when DS2 woke as he'd lost his dummy. He's now lying, wide awake but if I leave the room he'll start screaming so I'm stuck here for God knows how long. Just hoping DS1 doesn't wake again, I'm SO tired!

HelpMeGetThrough · 06/01/2024 04:21

Have resorted to coffee here now. I'm never a great sleeper, but the last two nights have been really rubbish.

Our youngest (16) had his tonsils out this week and for the last couple of days has really been poorly, so I've had one ear on him these last couple of nights.

We live in a 3 bed and he is in our big bed, so he can stretch out, so me and OH are downstairs. OH has the settee (and snoring), so I'm in the reclining chair. I want the big bed back 😁
