Bear with me and trust the process :

  1. Dollop of hummus.
  2. About half a teaspoon of miso paste.
  3. A glug of olive oil.
  4. Mix all these together and then stir through pasta (hot or cold).

I promise you - a revelation! You should all.try it forthwith and thank me later...

😂This has made me laugh. Might screenshot the gubbings and try it next week lol hummus and pasta … does seem a strange combo though!

blackpanth · 05/01/2024 18:32

I will have to try this!

Stringagal · 05/01/2024 18:33

Hmm. I’m not that familiar with miso paste, is it quite flavoursome? Because while I love hummus it doesn’t sound like the most exciting thing to pair with pasta. I’d need to jazz it up with something!

dontgobaconmyheart · 05/01/2024 18:35

I'm not a fan of miso, and to be honest don't often have pasta, so it's probably not for me but I'm all for odd combinations and am fever chucking whatever I've got at home together.

Nothing new as we had them when we were kids but recently I've been loving peanut butter and beetroot sandwiches. Disappointingly nobody in the household will so much as try them and at the same time seem very sure they aren't missing out. How wrong they are.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 05/01/2024 18:36

I don't like pasta, OP. Any other suggestions as to use?

This was precisely my thought process. Miso is full of flavour and really jazzes up the hummus beautifully! Trust me. You must try it.

You could spread on toast, or use as a dip for crackers or tortilla chips.

See. I am not only a culinary genius, but VERSATILE.

Is it not beige on beige OP?

FluffActually · 05/01/2024 18:40

I love pasta tossed in miso butter but your hummus twist has thrown me! Sounds potentially claggy.

Nooooooo! It is POETRY.

I actually like claggy. Might try with tortilla chips - that sounds nice. But I'll eat (or at least try) pretty much anything. Just not pasta.

PincNeon · 05/01/2024 18:49

Pasta and chickpeas is a classic combo, and I’m sure I’ve seen a recipe for a smooth chickpea sauce for pasta before, so this isn’t as out there as it sounds.

Ooh, pickled or plain boiled beetroot? I already have peanut butter with cucumber slices so it’s not much of a leap, I can see how it would work.

This is intriguing, but I am not a big beetroot eater. Bloody love peanut butter though - I might give it a try in the interests of gastronomic experimentation.

I'm going to give it a go. Since discovering that vegetarian sausages dipped in raspberry jam is one of my favourite snacks, I have developed a love of trying weird food combinations.

I'll report back when I've tried it 😂

DreamingInPhosphorescence · 05/01/2024 18:58

I like hummus (though boring) and miso so will give it a try, thanks op.

newtlover · 05/01/2024 18:58

this sounds promising, OP, I just need to buy some miso
you may like to try peanut butter and lime pickle sandwiches, grated carrot optional

Yup, clag tastic surely?

What shape of pasta OP?

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 05/01/2024 19:18

Miso is foul. So no. 🤣

Georgyporky · 05/01/2024 19:19

Is it best with a pork or lamb chop? Or perhaps steak if I can get a bank loan ?
