Sad - I had the biggest crush on him as Ken Hutchinson.

God, me too!

He had a tumultuous private life but I'd venture he managed to turn himself around. Not that I'm excusing aspects of his past. I've only seen his acting in Starsky and Hutch - I think he played the role of Sergeant Hutchinson well. Not a bad singer either. I think Don't Give Up On Us was the first UK number one of 1977.

More of a Starsky girl myself, but used to love that programme.

I got Don't Give Up on Us for my 9th birthday and played it to death. I was such a Hutch fan. Sad news.

KnickerlessParsons · 05/01/2024 17:27

I loved him and I think he would have loved me too if the stars had aligned so that we'd met.

Although I've gone off him a bit today as I read in his obit that he had five marriages and was done for beating up one of his wives.

Yes used to love S&H

Every week they crashed into a shop or market stall

DS is immortalised in the 70s and liked his music as well

RIP David

I remember him campaigning for Martin Bell in Tatton in 1997 and the surprise when he knocked on doors in the area.

PuppyMonkey · 05/01/2024 17:40

I was Team Hutch when all my sisters were Team Starsky. RIP.

Bloody good in Salem’s Lot too, I still think about that TV adaptation…

Bonjovispjs · 05/01/2024 17:42

Don't give up on us was the first single I ever bought. He was gorgeous when he was younger.

Myideaofhell · 05/01/2024 17:46

He also sang ‘Silver Lady’ - I only have to hear it and I am no longer a frumpy nearly pensioner but the young girl who was discovering life. Thanks for the memories

I loved him more than all of you put together.

StrangeNew · 05/01/2024 17:58

I was a Starsky girl. Sister was Hutch-mad. We both adored the show, (our parents were clearly lenient with bedtimes). And we must have played ‘Don’t Give Up On Us’ about a billion times.

Good times that will never come again.

greentreez23 · 05/01/2024 17:59

Oh no! I had his posters on my wall when I was little. I've got Don't Give up on Us Baby on my playlist

Swallowdoubleandrunamile · 05/01/2024 18:18

I met him once when he was doing a play locally.
He was very nice to talk to and absolutely beautiful to look at.
RIP

ColinRobinsonsFart · 05/01/2024 18:27

I appreciated him ... but I really appreciated Starsky more!

SmugglersHaunt · 05/01/2024 18:29

I love Silver Lady! He was great in Salem’s Lot as well (amazing outfits)

Me too. Throws me instantly back to A levels, first crushes and a very different time. Odd, when you consider that I am now a literal silver lady.

Vitriolinsanity · 05/01/2024 19:47

No way! Don't Give Up On Us Baby was my 70's childhood song. Bloody loved Hutch.

David if you're out there, thanks for every Saturday night Chez Vitriol.

Oh man, Silver Lady is one of my guilty pleasures. I like to put it on in the car and sing along loudly 😕

JingleSnowmanTree · 05/01/2024 19:57
