Grrr anyone still up and want a rant?

My rant is that as we didn't have bins collected for over a fortnight during Xmas period. Not a problem in itself but it was attracting fruit flies.

So I got the bins out a few days before they were due to be collected, made sure kitchen was pristine etc.

Then the little sods started going for my orange juice, lemon, honey and hot water in the sitting room. I made a decoy cup for them. I've just accidentally knocked decoy cup over so I'll have to clean up a fruit flies graveyard and sticky liquid tomorrow, too tired to do it right now!

My OH is snoring so loudly I've had to move to the sofa for fear I'll suffocate him in my quest to sleep

Walkingwithdinosaurs · 05/01/2024 00:40

Ohh we didn’t have the bins emptied either… many skip runs were done. We have a few fruit flies but I just spray them the fly spray. How are they getting in?

QuestionableMouse · 05/01/2024 00:41

I have a pile of recycling almost as tall as me! Have booked a skip run but I trip over it every time I go in the kitchen!

BeachedOff · 05/01/2024 00:42

How annoying! Can't stand fruit flies.

We are all poorly with Covid currently and the DH now has it a bit worse than me, so I'm on the night shift with the poorly little one whilst I'm still feeling rough myself. Also have had some real trouble getting to sleep and little one has woken up just as I had started to drift off. It will take hours again to get us both back to sleep 😭. Feels good to have a rant though.

Klcak · 05/01/2024 00:49

Very irritating
I do think that council rubbish collections are quite a serious issue - most councils have cut them down to the bare minimum and situations like this are the result.

I have covid. Being unable to sleep at night is a recognised symptom of this variant. And all because dh was kind enough to give a lift to a teen friend of ds. Friend coughed the whole bloody way!

Touty · 05/01/2024 00:50

I just can’t sleep until day 3 am. I used to have sleeping tablets to knock me out but can’t get them anymore.

BeachedOff · 05/01/2024 00:53

I didn't realise it was a symptom @Klcak that makes sense now!

Blossomingx · 05/01/2024 01:00

I fell asleep in the evening so ate dinner late. I'm having the most awful PMS this month, my anxiety was really bad today. Also can't stand the cold for some reason, feeling so sensitive at the moment.

Oh, and the dehumidifier leaked as I was moving it from one room to another. Carpet is soaking wet, I've put newspapers down with heavy things on top and it's working but still sodden. Hope tomorrow (or today rather) goes better.

Wishing you all a good Friday 💓

Ruddy DDog knocked over the side table whilst barking like a fool at the parcel delivery man yesterday😡
Half a cup of tea went flying onto my pale grey rug!! I have cleaned the rug several times but although it looks better, its still wet & smells like rotting cabbage!
Ddog is 8 now, but as a GSD, she still has to “defend and protect” me by running to & fro from window to front door whilst barking at full volume. This is despite knowing the parcel man since she was 8 weeks old!
Just add the rug to the rest of the jobs!🙄

XenoBitch · 05/01/2024 01:07

A loved one has been called to have an interview under police caution, yet those of us who were there and witnessed what they were involved with, have not been.
It seems so one sided.
We are so mad, and feel sick :(

frankie001 · 05/01/2024 02:17

Both my dogs have abandoned my bed to sleep on the landing, so I’m now lonely.

YukoandHiro · 05/01/2024 02:19

My toddler has woken hourly since 11pm. Why?! she's not ill, not too hot.

Just go through fuck to sleep.

Tonight1 · 05/01/2024 02:23

@Walkingwithdinosaurs oh they just get in anywhere. They are a nuisance, I would like my hot drinks to be left alone.

@XenoBitch can you write a letter to police so that you have your say on record?

Same! I was confused how I am so freaking tired, but no sleep is forthcoming

Neverknewidfindmyselfonhere · 05/01/2024 02:25

My elderly cat had me up for last half hour grrrr. Wants a fuss, then wants food, then wants to go out, then wants to come in. Love him but he is testing my last nerve

mommybear1 · 05/01/2024 02:36

Dropped my phone on my toe just before bed after a lovely day out at the panto currently lying in bed with toe throbbing pretty sure I've broken it 🫤

Browniesandcustard · 05/01/2024 02:42

My exH is being a pita (over money) and I’ve hardly slept the last few nights. He had an affair (although he prefers a different narrative) and has moved down to be near/with her. I wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole and the pair of cheats are welcome to each other, but I’m fed up of being the calm, reasonable one. People keep saying it’ll get better and it already is much better without him, it’s just really shit at the minute, particularly at 2am 😔

Browniesandcustard · 05/01/2024 02:44

@frankie001 mine have been banished downstairs tonight as the youngest one decided participating in the Stair Olympics was going to be her 11pm activity 🤣😭

frankie001 · 05/01/2024 03:09

@Browniesandcustard one has now returned! The cats are also partaking in Zoomie olympics! Just dosed up on painkillers for knee pain, so hoping they kick in (ha) soon!

Tarkan · 05/01/2024 03:11

DH's work changed how leave was given and now Christmas and New Year come out of lieu days. He didn't know and because he didn't have any lieu days left we're going to be down a good chunk of money (it goes down as unpaid leave instead it seems) so we can barely afford bills and I have no idea what we'll do with both his and DD's birthdays which are in the next week. I got an M&S voucher for Christmas and I was looking forward to spoiling myself but it's going to go on a food shop for the household now instead. We'll be ok in a few weeks but it's just a shitty start to the year.

HappyDaze23 · 05/01/2024 03:14

We’re on holiday which is lovely but both kids have a cough that’s developed. Slightly nervous it’s covid and I’ll get ill next. Thankfully, They’re happy during the day but waking at night for water etc and cuddles. The bed set up means I’m squeezed into the a single bed right now. My rant is that they never bloody want daddy! Only mummy will do at 3am! In with one and the other is also awake and asking if i’ll get in with them next. Both also like to poke and dig at me so it’s extremely unrelaxing!

Jumpingpogosticks · 05/01/2024 03:19

I'm 32 weeks pregnant, and I can't sleep more than an hour or two despite being shattered.
I can't remember the last full night's sleep I got.. Mt hips are uncomfortable, my backs uncomfortable, I have heartburn, my feet and itchy and my legs are crampy.and I'm hungry now too.

Lol and I have to be up in 3 hours.

MrsT84 · 05/01/2024 03:26

DD (20 months) has only really slept for 1.5 hours since 9pm. Sent hubby to her at 10.30pm but she didn't want him and sobbed so much that I gave in (didn't want her waking her big brother). Since 10.30pm she had been on and off the boob, trying to play games etc. Tried taking her to my bed so I could get some sleep but still being a nuisance, so now back in her room, hoping she will sleep soon as she is back to nursery tomorrow (does ever Friday) and we have to be up at 7am at the latest. I am now too wide awake so probably won't get any sleep tonight.

bridgetreilly · 05/01/2024 03:30

Second night of a cough that isn’t letting me rest for more than a couple of hours. Ugh.

GlitterBall91 · 05/01/2024 03:30

Got a newborn and haven’t slept more than a few minutes at a time in about 2 weeks
