Just remembered I met Hugh Bonneville in the pub once, didn't recognise him! My friend had to tell me who he was, after she'd picked herself up off the floor.

Someone on MN came on another thread to say they had shagged him!

Snuggleyou · 06/01/2024 03:32

Was the mean one j Saunders ?

Not really a celebrity but I had Bruno Langley (& one of the others off Coronation St, looked similar(ish) babk to my flat for a party one night.

He shoved my cat off the sofa so he got asked to leave🤣

Who the hell does he think he is?! 😡

There have been rather a lot of threads like this!

There can never be too many! 😄

Michael Jackson and Madonna came to my house one evening for a cheese and wine event.
Both were quiet and unassuming but really friendly.
Not really. I've never met a celebrity.

Ha!

I knew you were kidding!

"Quiet and unassuming but really friendly." My backside!

When they came to mine for a Tupperware party, they did nothing but scoff all the mini sausage rolls and bitch about other guests. Eileen from the bread shop said she would never come round again if they were coming, and she's really laid back as a rule.

I've never invited them back since. Just as well, really.

😅

I'd love to meet Ricky Gervais hope someone comes on to say they have

I have - and his wife - at an animal awards ceremony! Both very engaging and chatty, seemed to be really easy with each other and genuinely 'non-celebby'. It was by chance as I walked past them with a dog and RG was lovely with him 🐶

He was sitting behind me at the theatre (he spilled his Malteasers into the hood of my coat!) and every time he did his big old explosive “HA!” laugh, I could feel his breath on the back of my neck. SWOON. He was handsome as ever, although by now a silver fox. He was very nice too and chatted for ages.

I've just googled him - he's still bliddy gorgeous even now!

IwishIdidntlikesugar · 06/01/2024 04:55

I sat opposite Nick Knowles on the tube once, probably around 8-10 years ago and he looked quite aggressive and in a really bad mood. Always remember that when I see him on tv acting in a completely different way.

Mummyoflittledragon · 06/01/2024 04:57

Tom Baker (was Dr Who) at a Waterstones book signing. I just happened to be walking past and he was just about to leave. I begged him to wait whilst I bought a book and he did. Lovely man.

Nicholas Bailey (Antony Trueman Eastenders) back when he was acting in the show at a private club, which I think was off New Bond Street. He was really nice to me despite my being rather drunk and asking him lots of questions about acting (I was training at the time). I apologised to his gf, who was so gracious. Having googled him, I see they got married, must have been shortly after I met them.

edit - and Jamie Stewart (was bass guitarist in the Cult for a while). I went to his wedding reception with my nan in the local hall. I was expecting something posh but it was a knees up with men dressed in kilts lol. The other band members didn’t attend.

Joevanswell · 06/01/2024 05:08

I have met lots f Welsh rugby players, all lovely but Jeremy guscott was an absolute knob

Joevanswell · 06/01/2024 05:09

He was a past England player at the time and nearly barged my friend

stayathomer · 06/01/2024 06:25

In Ireland and saw Ryan Tubridy from the car, the kids waved madly and he waved madly back. Kids were thrilled!

Eledamorena · 06/01/2024 06:26

I met all the members of boyband Blue and Katie Price at an after party following a Blue concert in about 2004. My uncle worked with the band so my sister had met them quite a few times and got on with them. They didn't make much of an impression on me but were polite enough to everyone and quite kind to a few superfans who followed them round the country, inviting them for a drink etc. I was a bit put off, though, when my sister said that one of these fans they called 'Flora' cos she 'spreads easily'... I think they had all slept with her whenever they fancied it.

Katie Price wasn't very friendly. Tiny in real life (short and very very slim). I have big boobs and I remember thinking hers probably weren't any bigger, just on a teeny tiny frame!

Mammyloveswine · 06/01/2024 06:29

The band "blue"!

Simon was lovely and asked about my kids. Beautiful eyes! Very polite!

Anthony a total down to earth guy-felt like I'd known him for ages!

Lee-an absolute prick who thinks he's the dogs bollocks!

Duncan-a bit aloof but also had an aura around him-offered me s drink and was nice. Absolutely stunning in real life-almost unreal looking!

So Jeremy cooked me a bbq once and he was lovely! We were doing a promotion in the show home of a new housing estate and hardly anyone came, so most of the time it was just me, the agent and Jeremy. He played for Bath at the time, no idea if he was in the England team then.

I met and chatted to Shane mc Gowan for ages. Honestly il never forget him. He was one of the kindest humans I’ve ever met. The other famous person I met was Paul hill. One of the Birmingham six. In law of president Kennedy. We had a lock in in dingle. Honest to god, absolute gentleman. Really enjoyed being in his company. One of the best nights craic ever. I have also met the ex president of Ireland Mary mc alese. She was a bit meeh.

I saw clive Owen once, he's much taller and better looking in real life. Actually the person I was with recognized him. Good story I know ! Usually celebrities are smaller though, and I had never found him attractive on screen.

Me too! He was in the same restaurant as us in York after the races years ago and he was sharing a table with James Nesbitt and some others. Nesbitt was very loud and attention seeking but Clive Owen was quiet, polite and gorgeous. On the way out we passed Brian Turner sat at a table downstairs.

Rather a surreal end to a work team building day!

InAMess2023 · 06/01/2024 06:40

I had a one night stand with a famous ex boxer (think throuple). Was very charming and very intelligent, not arrogant like I thought... until we got to the bedroom... even had to source my own taxi home the next day rather than him calling me one! Nice!

Sandunesandseashells · 06/01/2024 06:44

Back in the 70’s I met Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McClaren on Kings Road. And Jeffery Daniels from Shalimar in WH Smith. And Boy George and Marilyn in Camden Palace many times. And Bruce Foxton from The Jam who was shorter than me (I’m 5’6” but would have been wearing heels).
In the 80’s Ben Elton looked very nervous on the tube when it was obvious we’d recognised him and he couldn’t escape. And bumped into Laurie McMenemy leaving a pub - he was very drunk.

Mouse82 · 06/01/2024 06:57

Jason Momoa back in 2027. He came to my little local pub in Brisbane when he was over on the Gold Coast filming. It was alright, no biggy nothing exciting to note.

This infuriated me. I’d have gone ape shit!

Dh met Jimmy Saville several times through running. He didn’t get any bad vibes from him.
He has also met a lot of famous bands including Def Leppard, Motörhead, Saxon, The Kaiser Chiefs, Blink 182. Not a bad word to say about any of them. All treated him like one of them. He is very knowledgable about music and the technical side though, so doesn’t come across as awestruck.

I have met Ricky Gervais! It was during The Office era and he was pretty much the same as he comes across on TV...

Glad I've never met him then because he comes across on TV as arrogant and self involved.

DramaLahma · 06/01/2024 07:29

I met Tom Payne, Jesus from the walking dead, last year. Had no idea he was quite posh English for a start 🤣 seemed like a lovely bloke, really down to earth. Smaller than I imagined though!

scalt · 06/01/2024 07:47

I queued to meet Spice Girl Emma Bunton, more than twenty years ago, when she was signing copies of her album at HMV in Oxford Street. My young self was very excited about this, she was very nice.
