I garlicked my cat

Today I thoughtlessly stroked my cat after I had been preparing garlic and the smell of garlic transferred to my cat.

I feel really bad about it. Also guilty.
Have you ever done this to your cat and if so how did you manage to forgive yourself?

I dropped lick e lix on my long haired cat🤣 She wasn’t impressed!

I guess that’s better than stinking of garlic though🤪

I dropped Branston Pickle on my newborn baby's head! She survived- I'm sure the cat will too. Although the cat will expect more apologies.

My dh once put moisturiser on ds as a newborn, I thought he smelt strange, it was gradual false tan 🤣 fortunately he didn't put much on!!

I once got red hair dye on a white guinea pig. Rinsed off the loose stuff and she had a red patch for a few days... Caught her in the hair section of Superdrug the following week.

I had a cat that would try to eat curry containing lots of garlic - she really had to be watched around it!

DawnButlersGayGiraffe · 04/01/2024 18:29

One of my cats rolls around in fox wee. Garlic would be an improvement.

Given that every.single.one of my (many) cats has at some point or another either been stroked with garlic hands or - and this is the most common - tried to eat the stuff, forgive yourself.

Our current cat loves cheese, to the point that she will grab pizza slices from your hand given half a chance. She will also try to eat curry. Hubs precious darling would sit on an empty chair at the dining table and wait for him to put his cutlery down before stealing anything left on his plate. She was particularly fond of lasagna and moussaka. A previous cat got high by stealing the neighbour's 'special' hash herbal sausages.

What I'm trying to say is that puss is likely to be fine. If you were to ask them what they would like as an apology, it will either be tinned salmon or tuna, with a catnip chaser. Or any of the above, if it's one of mine.....

My cat helped herself to some liver and onions that had been left on the kitchen worktop. Thankfully she was sick and brought it all back up,as I later discovered that onions are toxic to cats! This was 9 years ago,and she's still here to tell the tale!

Loving these stories of cats and newborns and guinea pigs!

One of mine once got fox shit on him, and then I had to bathe him. Thankfully he was very calm about it, probably also not wanting to stink so bad, so he allowed me to survive unscathed! I'd rather have got garlic on him. He loves garlic, and is always scrounging garlic bread off us (tiny bits, I know cats aren't supposed to have it, he doesn't seem to have read that instruction!)

Tonight1 · 04/01/2024 18:51

I can't even imagine the cat poos after eating curry

therealcookiemonster · 04/01/2024 19:08

add some parsley and butter to round off the flavours

Princessfluffy · 04/01/2024 19:51

Well my cat likes to point his arsehole at me and release the air in his rectum.....so garlicking the cat seems like damn good revenge to me

Anontocomment · 04/01/2024 21:22

@Tonight1 thankfully she was at a stage where she did her business outside.

Current silver princess spent time earlier this evening trying to nab a chunk of turkey or ham from the bowl as I was making leftover pie. She was already annoyed at my refusal to hand over either the block of cheese or the cheese sauce that I'd used for the pasta bake

FelicityBeedle · 04/01/2024 21:26

I got henna on my cat while dyeing my hair, it left a 50p sized reddy orange patch for the best part of six months. Ashamed to say I didn’t notice for a week but in my defence he’s ginger and white already

MeditatationMum · 04/01/2024 21:32

On the plus point...isn't garlic supposed to deter fleas?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 04/01/2024 21:36

I've onioned the cat.

Stupid furry Wee Shite eventually learned to get out from under my feet when I'm wrangling a split bag of Waitrose Essential Red ones. Silly bugger should have been grateful that it wasn't the bag of spuds.

I was once walking my ds's dog back home via the pet shop (where I'd bought treats)

The lady had put them in a cheap brown bag and as we walked home, one fell out and hit on the head

He spent the whole walk back, looking up as if more treats would just fall out of the sky!

I wouldn't worry-i once got a bottle of fake tan as a free gift with a magazine

Chucked it in the basket of crap and forgot about it until my eldest dd found it and collared her brother and rubbed in into his face thinking it was either suncream or a moisturiser

I had to take ds to school and explain I was really sorry he looked like an ompma lumpa but his sister was to blame

Took two whole weeks of scrubing to get it to fade

Both times they lived to see another day-im sure puss will be fine,if a little stinky

SirenSays · 04/01/2024 22:17

I onioned myself! I'd chopped onions for dinner, forgot about it and then touched my hair and couldn't figure out why my hands smelt like onions afterwards?! Why did my hair smell like onions?! I had my family sniffing my hair, who confirmed I was onioned!
I was so close to buying a new shampoo.

Our cat absolutely adores spicy food!!! He's a little freak if you ask me! Curry, chilli, if there's a bowl to lick, (just the sauce, no bits!) he's all over it, the spicier the better! I actually think this is because we rescued him when we lived in Bradford (curry capital of Yorkshire) He suddenly appeared, looking very homeless one afternoon. Our lovely Asian neighbours had shared some of their feast with us and we shared it with him, (as we had no other food in, our last cat had passed away 5 years prior). He loved the chicken tikka! We were only in Bradford for a year, before moving back to Leeds. I think he'd been on the streets a while and ate anything he could find, bless him... I couldn't trace an owner for him, his collar was all squashed together with gunge... So anyway, I bought him a new one... Oh and some food... And dishes... And a litter tray... 😁😁😁 8 years on, here he is, the little prince!!! I think he misses his curry scavenging days, so when I make one, he sets to on the sauce left in the dish!!! It's not often and I don't begrudge him one bit 😁😁😁

I garlicked my cat
MoonWoman69 · 04/01/2024 23:37

Oh and we called him Bob, after the street cat... 😁😁😁

Tonight1 · 04/01/2024 23:38

@MoonWoman69 yes I remember Bob Street cat!

Peekingovertheparapet · 04/01/2024 23:41

My firstborn pebble dashed the bathroom with poo at 3am during a nappy change when he was still quite new.

in my sleep deprived haze I cleaned the bathroom with water wipes and dettoled the baby!

MoonWoman69 · 04/01/2024 23:43

Beautiful story the whole Bob thing wasn't it. It totally turned James' life around. I was so upset when I heard he died. Wouldn't catch my Bob in a scarf and on a lead though!!! ❤
