It's 1am, why are you awake?

I'll start.

A virus has swept through our house since week before Christmas.

DH first, followed by me 48 hours later. A speedy but harsh 4 day illness which left us exhausted but "recovered".

The weird thing was, how exactly mine copied his to the hour. Never experienced it before, identical in swiftness and severity.

We were not. He has progressively gotten worse and is back to a sky high temperature and a racking cough (not COVID, confirmed) and is going to see the GP tomorrow.

Eldest came down with it 3 days ago and is now mildly on the up, her temperature has dropped below 40 for the first time.

Which brings me to me, who is currently curled up on the sofa, with a hot water bottle on her ear having gotten up to take codiene because I can feel the build up to my eardrum rupturing, because unlike most children, I never grew out of it.

So I'm thoroughly fed up, in absolute agony and just waiting for the relief following what I already know is going to be a lightning rod of white hot pain through my skull.

So why are you reading this? Why are you awake?

PermanentTemporary · 04/01/2024 03:10

My sister sent an angry message at 9pm last night, I did sleep 11- 2 but brain is churning now. I've had enough of these rows and considering checking out of life but I can't as ds is only 20. Am also aware that the suicidal thoughts will probably settle in the morning.

I’m sleeping really badly at the moment. I’m not getting to sleep until after 6am most nights. Luckily I don’t have to be up at any particular time. I do have some sleeping tablets but don’t like to use them unless I’m desperate and they leave me sleepy during the day.

I’ve suffered off and on from Insomnia…. It’s back with vengeance.

@Changeforthis79 that’s tough I hope you’re feeling better soon.

sorry to those of you who had a bereavement. I lost my dad a few months ago and we were so close, everyday is a struggle without him.

plus DH is snoring so loudly I am considering going to the sofa for the rest of the night.

@Isitbedtimeyet237
You're not a failure, far from it. I bet you're doing an amazing job but you just need a little help with your anxiety and thoughts.
PND is nothing to be ashamed of, it can happen to anyone. Please make that appointment tomorrow.
You must be so exhausted with the lack of sleep... I hope you can get some rest soon.
Big hugs Flowers

My autistic 7 year old daughter just won't go to sleep. My OH will be up shortly for work and I've been ill over Christmas and now have an awful cough so even if I did get to bed I probably wouldn't sleep for coughing.

TartanTerrier · 04/01/2024 03:28

A good friend is giving me the cold shoulder and I can't stop thinking about it.
I haven't a clue what I've done ... or if it's the little thing I can think of, I can't believe it's getting this response.
My WhatsApp messages are being left unopened and yesterday I was notified she'd thrown me out of a group chat!
I sleep badly most of the time but this really isn't helping.
I'm an easygoing person, straightforward and quick to forgive. This business is taking me straight back to school days... and it's really thrown me. Even if it all blows over, I'm not going to find it easy to forget her behaviour!

Sat with my mum in hospital.

Got a call at 2.30, she's 96, severe pneumonia, vascular dementia and is on oxygen.

She keeps pulling the oxygen tube out and there isn't enough staff for someone to sit with her constantly putting it back .

She is talking constantly and hallucinating.

LadyChilli · 04/01/2024 04:15

I've ended a friendship and am saddened by it. A friend who cancelled at the last minute one too many times despite reconfirming before turning down other people because I know she's flaky, and meeting her also meant quite military precision in my own plans. Then some tone deaf messages into a group chat about her having a new man that made it clear why she doesn't have time for me. Not half as serious as others on this thread and I send my best wishes to those going through worse.

Hi @JustFrustrated I am the lady kicking alcohol and you cannot even know how much your post helped me. Every bit of encouragement is powering me on right now and you have become one of my Sobriety Circle!

cornishone · 04/01/2024 05:41

@JustFrustrated my ear has now moved on to high pitched squealing tinnitus. I'm definitely going to try to see the GP.

I hope you all have managed to get some sleep.

So sorry for this. How distressing for you. With sympathy💐

Last point of contact too. We haven't seen him for over three years.

Very little sleep, awake by 6.45am. So tired and sad today.

MrsPositivity1 · 04/01/2024 10:53

@JustFrustrated thank you, just getting to a ward now
