Wish postman/woman would leave it

I have been sleeping in a lot lately and can’t change this too much and I know it’s no one else’s fault but I need the rest.
the postman has knocked on 3 separate occasions, always early in the morning and then posted a postcard through my door to book a redelivery. I did but there were no time slots. Maybe I’m just tired but door knocking sets me off, I cant answer the door. The books I bought were cheap. Before anyone asks, no, I am not and will never be able to go to a collection point and I won’t be discussing why, I just can’t

My postie tried to deliver an item very early this morning about 6.35am. dogs barking their heads off but time DH got on his dressing gown and went down he saw him driving off in his van. Note through the door. I think deliveries before 7am are not good. OP you can get a lockable parcel box fitted to your wall near your door.

I don't think they should deliver before 7, and I would not answer a knock after 9 at night, surely there are cut offs?

You can literally request a safe place to leave items on the re delivery website. Deary me.

Yes you can but ime they repeatedly ignore it. I'm never home on working days that RM deliver. They don't even take to to the sorting office anymore, just keep trying to re deliver ignoring my safe place instructions and not taking it to sorting office either. I have no local post office now or one further away with parking that I can divert it to either

Posties would far rather leave the packet than a card. Carrying undelivered packets around is a real inconvenience and, of course, they have to do it all over again the next day. Unfortunately, leaving a packet in an 'unofficial' safe place is a bit of a gamble for the postie. If it isn't actually secure and the packet disappears (or the householder falsely says it disappeared - which happens too) then the postie could get written up by the Delivery Manager. Customers are not always understanding of this and blithely order items without a thought as to whether delivery can be effected and then complain when it isn't. In this case, your best option would be for redirect to a neighbour because if the postie can't make a safe delivery, your books will be held at the delivery office for 3 weeks and then returned to sender.

When you designate a safe place to leave a parcel you tick a box saying you will not hold
RM responsible if it gets damaged or goes missing!

It is SO tiresome when the OP ignores all sensible practical suggestions and responds only to a post for which she has a smart answer.

It wasn't even a smart answer.

Kalevala · 03/01/2024 18:47

What I don't understand is that the OP has been woken by the knock three times but hasn't answered the door. They only need answer once then the disruption will stop. If you need sleep surely that is the obvious solution rather than days of being woken?

Unless there is an undisclosed issue like a physical disability that means they can't answer in time? Or some kind of half awake sleep paralysis issue where they hear the knock but can't get up?

What a novel idea! 😄
OPs not interested in the replies, anyway.

MargotMoon · 03/01/2024 19:52

@DidiAskYouThough Yes, so I gathered - I did a lazy reply and then actually read the thread!

It's all gone a bit 'cancel the cheque'! (For good reason, as it's the obvious answer...ignored by the OP!)

MargotMoon · 03/01/2024 20:34

@NoWordForFluffy Oops, I try not to be a RTFT div but sometimes it happens to the best of us 😆

Okay but the OP hasn’t even tried to request the safe place sooooo

Riseandshinee · 03/01/2024 21:18

I didn’t want to come back to the thread, for some reason it’s assumed that I haven’t listened to anyone just because I didn’t reply, that notion is ridiculous imo

It is rude when people have taken time to reply to you, not to come back and give a general thank you.

I didn't mean it to be snipy!
**
I've never seen an Amazon branded van in my area, they usually use DPD and the bloke who does that run is very good. Sometimes they use Evri and the woman who does that is generally okay but changes slots quite a bit.
**
Also sometimes they use Royal Mail who are by far the worst. They give you a slot, but with the caveat that it's a hoped for time, never keep to it anyway, rarely follow instructions left, and don't always come back when they say they will.
**
This is all for things from Amazon themselves. So it seems to differ depending on where you live”

Fair enough and that’s probably so. We have 4 regular drivers, all in Amazon vans (gawd luv ‘em!).

Utterly pointless thread really.

It's a shame you won't ever receive your parcel, OP. 🤷‍♀️

scoobysnaxx · 04/01/2024 11:40

Literally no bloody point in this thread.

Postal workers have a job to do.

Don't order or order elsewhere.

@Riseandshinee Did you get your parcel?

enchantedsquirrelwood · 06/01/2024 17:20

I think the OP was just winding MNers up.

This probably IS a thread that should be zapped as time-wasting.
