Is it OTT to cut the ends off sausages

For a 25 year old family member because he doesn’t like the ends?

Does it equate to cutting up food for a child?
Or is it just a nice thing to do for someone?

SN fine. None then Yabu pandering to such crap.

Mumaway · 02/01/2024 18:14

It's mental. They can cut off their own ends.

MrsNandortheRelentless · 02/01/2024 18:14

When making a sausage sandwich for them, before putting it into the bread I mean.

FuckingHellAdele · 02/01/2024 18:15

Yes it is imo (OTT)

MrsNandortheRelentless · 02/01/2024 18:16

Batshit right!

It's fine to do it for them.
The end of the sausage is my favourite part so I'd happily do it for them and eat it myself.

thefullfatcokeplease · 02/01/2024 18:17

If it’s a one off/ rare treat (e.g staying for Christmas), fine.

If you also make their packed lunch, not fine.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 02/01/2024 18:17

Cooks' Perks, surely?

Sirzy · 02/01/2024 18:17

If making a sausage sandwich then i think it’s just nice if you know the person doesn’t like them.

for a normal meal then I would leave them and they can easily cut them off

Topseyt123 · 02/01/2024 18:17

Batshit, and I would absolutely ignore them.

ditalini · 02/01/2024 18:18

No, it would be ridiculous to make him open up the sandwich to make some weirdo point.

I prefer my sausages cut lengthwise in a sandwich as I find it easier to eat. I'm not going to comment if it comes as it is, but if dh is making me one then he'll spend that 10 seconds slicing the sausage.

sugarplum33 · 02/01/2024 18:18

It's a bit weird but if you're making food for everyone and that's his preference then it's nice I suppose, a bit like making cups of tea to various strengths and levels of sweetness.

That's assuming he also cooks for himself and for you and isn't just a pampered, sausage-fearing man child.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 02/01/2024 18:19

It's nice if you're making them a sandwich and you know that's how they like it. If the sausages are going to be freely accessible on a plate, and the person has a knife and fork, they can do it themselves.

countvoncount · 02/01/2024 18:19

I stopped doing shit like that when the kids were 7/8?
25???????
Not a chance in hell, does it get blown on too if it's too hot?

ElevenSeven · 02/01/2024 18:19

What’s wrong with the ends of the sausages?

tescocreditcard · 02/01/2024 18:19

If anyone ever asks you to do this, the only reasonable response is "shut up, stupid".

AllAroundMyCat · 02/01/2024 18:20

Madness..., SN or not.

sprigatito · 02/01/2024 18:20

I would do this sort of thing for my young adult children, it's just a little gesture of love and I see no harm in it. But this is in the context of them being generally functioning adults who can take care of themselves; I'm not doing it because they can't do it for themselves.

soupfiend · 02/01/2024 18:22

At first thought, it seems unnecessary, but now you say its a sandwich, you couldnt give someone a sandwich who would then have to open it up, get a knife, cut the ends off (and take the sausage out to do that), the sausage would be covered in butter and sauce (red sauce naturally), then re assemble the sandwich

And even though its a bit strange not to eat the ends, thats how they like the sandwich.

If they're making it themselves then presumably they cut their own ends off

And yes, you must eat the ends as a treat.

Obviouspretzel · 02/01/2024 18:25

Why would I make someone a sandwich and not bother to take ten seconds to make it how they like it?

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 02/01/2024 18:27

Definitely depends on context. If its a one off then yes it's a kind thing to do, you remember how they like them. But the same point goes for making the sandwich in the first place. If he or she lives with you then you shouldn't be making sandwiches in the first place unless you take turns.

Kalevala · 02/01/2024 18:27

What a wasteful person!

lljkk · 02/01/2024 18:28

Why? Ends are edible & yummy.

Doingmybest12 · 02/01/2024 18:30

I would only do it if for some reason they needed to be indulged like a child. Illness, not home often, bad news. Day to day no not something I'd do.

festivetinseling · 02/01/2024 18:30

This is the first time in my entire life that I've ever heard of anyone cutting the ends off sausages.
