Is it OTT to cut the ends off sausages

For a 25 year old family member because he doesn’t like the ends?

Does it equate to cutting up food for a child?
Or is it just a nice thing to do for someone?

I'd happily do it just cos I'd want to eat them - it's not a huge deal.

If you were cutting up their plated food and 'Choo-choo'n' it into their mouth I'd think you were a bit weird, but ends of sausages is fine I think!

I honestly spent a minute there wondering what sausage bits your aunt didn't like that you were stabbing, and where the town of Branston Ouckle is Grin

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

sounds like a murder mystery

bloody phone 😂😂😂😂😂

I'd do it for a sandwich or something handed over fully ready to eat but not for something like bangers and mash.

I don't like the fat strip on bacon and it's super annoying to open up a ready made butty to pull it off so when OH is making one he cuts it off first and puts it in his own butty

It's my favourite bit so would eat them but sure it's wacky but for the 2 seconds it would take to do it I would

Like anything there is give and take

autienotnaughty · 03/01/2024 04:42

If they have Sen or an eating disorder or are under 10 I would do it.

If I was making them a sandwich I would do it as otherwise they would have to dismantle the sandwich. When I make dh a bacon sarnies i trim the fat for him.

It's probably just habit tho. As a stand alone thing it wouldn't bother me.

I think that the salient point here is:

Why can a 25 year old not make his own bloody sandwich?

CrabbiesGingerBeer · 03/01/2024 05:21

I’m boggled at the idea it’s ‘batshit’ to spend literally 20 seconds preparing a sandwich the way someone likes it rather than making them a sandwich they know the person will take apart to fix.

Do people with that view not like their family members?

I know how to make a pot of tea but my husband does it for me sometimes same as I do for him

Madness..., SN or not.

So you think adults with SEN who have for example sensory issues that they have no control over shouldn't inconvenience someone for the few extra seconds it takes to make a small adjustment to meet their needs? Why is making a small adjustment to meet someone's needs madness? It's a small kind gesture that could make someone's day a little nicer, so why not?

Me too. I can't fathom thinking someone I'm hosting or offer to make lunch for isn't worth spending an extra few seconds to make their food the way they like it.

Eh- wouldn't go as far as saying it's batshit. They will be wasted, and the cooker if the sausages can eat the ends- which IMO are the best bits anyway. If I knew that something would be going to waste I was happy to eat- I'd probably do the same.

JacketAndJumpet · 03/01/2024 06:59

I’ve never heard of anyone removing the ends of sausages or considering the ends to be different from the middle.

That said, if it gives them pleasure to get the sandwich as they like it and it gives you pleasure to do it, I’m not sure what the problem is. Making a sandwich always involves cutting up food, unless you’re ramming a whole block of cheddar inside a whole loaf of bread. It’s fine.
