Back to normal life today?

I need to get up to log on soon. The rest of this week will be pretty quiet for me as most of my team is off until next week. I decided not to use more AL but just take the quiet days instead (wfh so no big inconvenience really) 😂

Healthy eating and tracking starts religiously today. I did start last week, Wednesday, but had 2 days off for NYE/D. Will be concentrating on getting my blood glucose in a good range and daily steps. I've started the Samsung health together walking challenge. Didn't do my steps yesterday so need to do 13,000 minimum today to catch up and be on target (you have to do 200,000 steps over the month to complete the challenge). I'll do the majority on my cross trainer/elliptical machine.

And I'm going carb free, just meat, fish, poultry, veg, salad, eggs, cheese for me for a while. Lots of soups, and and I trying for only homemade, and all whole foods.

I'm also going to try to read at least one book a month, as I've let reading slip a bit.

What does your day entail? Back to full on or a nice easy week? Any changes or resolutions to start?

Back to work today. Worked Thursday and Friday last week so I’ve been eased in gently. wFH today and tomorrow then back into the office.

Trying to eat more healthily and lose some weight but still have Christmas cheese in the house.

Should probably make moves towards getting logged on soon.

Sunandseaforme · 02/01/2024 07:52

Also WFH today and that’s quite new for me as I changed jobs recently. Like you, a lot of my team are still off so should have a quiet day.
I’m doing dry January in an effort to reduce my anxiety, but not planning any big changes. I’m also doing a Project Management qualification and have the exam in 6 weeks so that’s enough to focus on for now.

I’m back to work on Thursday - I will be in the office on Thursday and WFH on Friday. DH is back to work today.

I’m going to the gym this morning, this afternoon I will be disposing of the last of the Christmas food and cleaning out the fridge. Our back bedroom (which becomes ‘Christmas room’ in December) will also be restored to normal use!

margotrose · 02/01/2024 07:58

We're still off today. No plans other than relaxing really!

UsernameTaken76 · 02/01/2024 08:02

Back to work today and back to normal routine. I made it to the gym yesterday and back there tomorrow. Focusing on healthy eating, no fizzy drinks and lots of water.

Aim is to read a book at night rather than mindlessly scrolling my phone and then guided meditation for sleep.

Whatsgoingonwithmyhead · 02/01/2024 08:03

Yes back to normality - tree and decorations came down over the weekend back to work today. DC has been told firmly Christmas is over

I hate Christmas so am sooooooooo relieved

BruhWhy · 02/01/2024 08:05

Nope, one last day for me. Spent NYE and yesterday building shelves and drawers for DD's built-in wardrobe, so plan to just relax today.

DH is back at work though teaching at a secondary. Schools are going back so early this year.

It’s still a bank holiday in Scotland, I’m in denial about the return to reality tomorrow.

Psychoticbreak · 02/01/2024 08:07

I envy anyone who was not back to work last week!

FortunataTagnips · 02/01/2024 08:08

I’m off until next Monday. Have booked a swim later this morning. Perimenopause is kicking my arse at the moment so am hoping upping the exercise helps.

upandoutofbed · 02/01/2024 08:13

I'm off work until Friday. I'm still in bed feeling very tired and blobby. But will get up soon and do a c25k run (well mainly walk as still on week 3) and also fancy doing Yoga with Adrienne for the month though I'm already a day late. Trying to get good habits established before the relentlessness of work sets in.

Will also be trying to cut out sugar (but not until all the Christmas treats are polished off).

My main focus today is to complete a job application and interview prep, closing date very soon!

EspressoMacchiato · 02/01/2024 08:18

I’m doing no carb for world carnivore month too OP. I always feel so good doing it.

We’re still on holidays. We’ve booked tickets to see Aquaman this morning.

So jealous! We're Scottish but living down South and complaining loudly this morning that it really is too soon to be back to normal!

Enjoy your extra day 😊

NearlyMonday · 02/01/2024 08:22

I love Christmas but once it’s done, ie beyond Boxing Day, I’m happy to get back to normal

I feel much, much better when I eat like this.

Also, am post meno so need to cut down what I eat and make better choices than I have been. I'm going to up my water to at least 2l, ideally 3, consistently do my skincare routine as I can tend to ignore it at night, and try to drink 5 green teas a day.

And get backto my eating window of 12-8 as well! I've let that slip too.

Back to work in the office today and my work trousers are feeling tight! Going to be watching what I eat from now on and try to lose it. Other than that I don’t have any resolutions

jay55 · 02/01/2024 08:26

Need to go and logon, if I can remember my password.
Ugh.
I've had two weeks off and it's going to be tough getting my brain back in gear.

Good luck to all for an easy day.

FortunataTagnips · 02/01/2024 08:28

@upandoutofbed You haven’t missed anything with Adriene yet. Yesterday’s video was just a chat about what to expect.

ItAintGonnaGoDownEasyIfItAintCheezy · 02/01/2024 08:29

I always intend to do Adrienne's 30 days but never stick with it.

I've got to log on in 15 mins but I'm still in bed ! I love wfh!

Berryberrywintermedley · 02/01/2024 08:32

I only had Christmas day off

Thestruggler · 02/01/2024 08:40

Back to work today after nearly 2 weeks off (which were all spent dealing with various illnesses in the house and one kid ending up in A&E). I'm exhausted already.

So do I, I will never go back to office working if I can ever help it.

January is grim enough without making it worse for myself. So I'm going to do a bit of work today and take the decs down. We have leftovers from hosting to have today. Then have a few nice things planned for the weekend. I'm also on my period and have adenomyosis so pain is bad😩

Like a soft launch into January 😂

lap90 · 02/01/2024 08:49

Back to normal life for me next week and dreading it already!
