Back to normal life today?

I need to get up to log on soon. The rest of this week will be pretty quiet for me as most of my team is off until next week. I decided not to use more AL but just take the quiet days instead (wfh so no big inconvenience really) 😂

Healthy eating and tracking starts religiously today. I did start last week, Wednesday, but had 2 days off for NYE/D. Will be concentrating on getting my blood glucose in a good range and daily steps. I've started the Samsung health together walking challenge. Didn't do my steps yesterday so need to do 13,000 minimum today to catch up and be on target (you have to do 200,000 steps over the month to complete the challenge). I'll do the majority on my cross trainer/elliptical machine.

And I'm going carb free, just meat, fish, poultry, veg, salad, eggs, cheese for me for a while. Lots of soups, and and I trying for only homemade, and all whole foods.

I'm also going to try to read at least one book a month, as I've let reading slip a bit.

What does your day entail? Back to full on or a nice easy week? Any changes or resolutions to start?

Not back to work for a week yet for me. Today it’s just me and DS, who is back to school on Thursday. We will take ddog to the woods, I might run or I might just walk - I ought to run, but I ran yesterday and today is only a short one, not enough exercise for ddog so I may have to leave it. We haven’t had much of a Christmas this year because FiL has been so ill, so no massive food indulgence here sadly - I haven’t even iced my Christmas cake yet 😳 Will be eating that with our morning coffee for a while! Tomorrow I have a contact lens check appointment, then on Thursday DS goes back and I have a speed session planned followed by a massage - I’m training for a race in a few weeks.

I'm back at my desk today, sitting here in my dressing gown trying to remember how to do my job.

DilemmaDelilah · 02/01/2024 08:54

It's a start back to normal life for me after 6 months off sick.
I start back at work today (phased return) and I'm starting eating more healthily. No drastic diet because a) I wouldn't stick to it and
b) more importantly I need to ensure I have a properly balanced diet with all the required vitamins and minerals, and sufficient protein, to help me combat my illness and keep me out of hospital.

It's going to feel very odd - but a return to normalcy will be good for me.

Soccermumamir · 02/01/2024 09:00

I'm back to work on Thursday, ds2 is back to school on Thursday and ds1 and OH go back next Monday. It feels a bit 'normal' today. All trees and decorations are down, and most of my neighbours have gone back to work today as well.
I finished my course yesterday and submitted my last assessment. It was due in on 12th January.
I've decided I'm not doing anymore courses for a while. I'm gonna spend my free time at the gym, reading and picking up old and new hobbies.

I am about to log on and regretting slightly that I said I would work today as want to go back to bed, hardly slept last night.

WFH so can’t complain too much - in the office on Thursday.

Commiserations to anyone who has to actually leave the house for work today as don’t think I could have faced it 😂

Trying to get back into healthy eating and a bit of gentle exercise too but it’s not going to be easy!

upandoutofbed · 02/01/2024 09:28

@DilemmaDelilah wishing you well on your return to work! What a big step. If it's phased and managed properly I think it can really help, especially focusing the mind on 'normal' activity instead of all things illness related. Take care though.

Beezknees · 02/01/2024 09:29

I booked this week off. I prefer having this time off than over Christmas as everyone is just miserable this week. I will be eating well this week though!

ItAintGonnaGoDownEasyIfItAintCheezy · 02/01/2024 09:37

I'm trying to find a nice planner/daily diary and I can't find one 🙄
I must want the impossible.

Back to normal for me. I was supposed to go into the office but I got up late and didn't have time to get to the office, so I am WAH. Day 1 of healthy eating, dieting, eating good food, cutting out crap, reducing alcohol ... and I was suppose to get up 6am and go to the gym for 7am. I did manage to wake up at 6am but my bed was too comfy and warm so I went back to sleep . I feel like I have already failed on day 1

View it as this week is a stepping stone week. Today you will eat better, tomorrow or the day after you will feel better so have the energy and inclination to get to the gym that early. Thats what I'm doing, easing in gently this week.

I'm not back till Monday, which is good as my sleeping has gone to pot. So I have a few days to try to get a handle on that.

Need to take down the decorations still as well.

Currently still in bed, need to go for a run, and am out for lunch later with my Dad.

Topsy44 · 02/01/2024 09:59

Both me and DD are off work and school until tomorrow. Goodness knows how we’re both going to get up tomorrow, it’s been so good having some lie ins.

DD will spend this morning watching a couple of Dr Who episodes and I will join her on the sofa switching from phone to book. This afternoon we will venture out to shops as DD needs a new school bag and I’ll do a mini food shop to get us through the weekend. Then home to make sure everything’s ready for tomorrow- both dreading going back!!

whyyy321 · 02/01/2024 10:27

Living in Scotland but working for an English provider, so mostly being really jealous of most people here getting another day off! 15 month old DS off to grandparents for the day though so we can sort ourselves out a little. I've loved the bit between Christmas and NY this year, felt like I've actually managed to just let it be a quiet time for walks and park trips.

Carsarelife · 02/01/2024 16:15

Back to work on Thursday. It's also my youngest DD birthday on Thursday so I will spend tomorrow getting ready for that. All decorations are already down etc.
Had a tough time in work just before the Xmas break up so not looking forward to going back at all. Anticipating a chat from the manager and none of the problems will be resolved then it's back to square one.
Look for another job or stay somewhere im undervalued.
