Anyone have Insomnia before going back to work tomorrow?to work

I'm still awake again.
Slept beautifully all last week.
Now it looks like no sleep again as I have work tomorrow. Normally get the Sunday night jitters. Then sleep badly all week.
I've taken magnesium, had a bath
Am I doomed to spend all my working life with little sleep?!
Anyone else awake?

Yes, need to chase up projects tomorrow.

I got myself some orange with hot water but irritatingly enough some fruit flies divebombed it.

So I left out a cup for them to drown swim in and have my own firmly covered with an A5 brochure.

Gotsomedebt · 02/01/2024 04:20

I don't have work but I'm struggling with insomnia. I have the occasional night where I sleep beautifully but regular nights like tonight where its 4:20 and I still haven't slept. DS will be awake at 7.

Rafting2022 · 02/01/2024 04:26

It’s so annoying - any psychologists on here who can give us the science behind it?

Fortunately I can WFH today and hopefully will be so tired I’ll sleep tonight.

Yep. Struggled to get to sleep and then woke up again at half three. I like my job and am quite looking forward to going back, but I think my subconscious is worried I might sleep in.

rockingbird · 02/01/2024 04:31

Same.. managed to get to sleep around 11pm. Awake again by 12 .. tossed and turned and now up at 4am. Sleep is always worse when the kids are due back at school. Gives me terrible anxiety 😟

SadButTheTruth · 02/01/2024 04:54

It was so nice to see this thread! A bit like waking up but having somewhere to go and sit with other poor sleep deprived women - s their pets. Fell asleep at 1.30am, woke at 3.30am.

I knew my sleep would get shafted after random holiday bedtimes….but it was also shafted by perimenopause and general fretting.

My DH is making the most bizarre noises too. I can’t call it snoring. More like a demon beast in a fantasy film. 😒

theodozya · 02/01/2024 05:25

I have this but instead of being insomnia, it’s like the kids pick something up from me whenever I’m going back to work and it makes them sleep badly. My 4 year old sleeps perfectly nearly every night if her life and is slavishly obedient to the gro clock, plus was as exhausted yesterday as I’ve ever seen her - but she came into our bed at 3:30 tonight, kept us awake wriggling and then insisted she was going downstairs to watch tv just before 5 (I’ve let her). My 2yo luckily hasn’t been up tonight but his sleep is invariably worse on a Sunday night. I don’t know why it is, because I love work and don’t mind getting up early!

Stressedgiraffe · 02/01/2024 06:00

I've given up and got dressed. Watched a terrible film. Now thinking about braving the weather to walk the dogs. Hope some of you got some sleep

Ugh I had a horrible sleep. Another one who slept for about 45 minutes and then was awake most of the night. Quite standard for me on a Sunday but ugh I feel vile this morning.

I blame school because I was thoroughly miserable and spent most Sunday nights crying. I think it's ingrained in me. I quite like my job and really don't understand why I'm like this unless it's just past trauma lol.

Pastlast · 02/01/2024 06:23

I’ve been up since 0330. I gave up about 0500 and did a bit of work. I hate my job so much but I can’t think what else to do. Today is going to be hard.

PaminaMozart · 02/01/2024 06:25

I listen to Radio 3 at a very low volume. Often works. If not, Benadryl or a muscle relaxant. Or both... sigh.

MrsDoubtfire123 · 02/01/2024 06:36

Yes. Slept so wonderfully last week. Then the night before being back at work- Didn’t get to sleep till 1:30am and up at 6am 😭.

MrsDoubtfire123 · 02/01/2024 06:37

I feel the same. Desperately want a change , but I’m stuck😞

Ive not got back to work insomnia but i have just had 1 of the worst nights sleep of my life . i maybe got an hour max 😢

TisTheDarnSeason · 02/01/2024 07:05

Terrible night's sleep. Tossing and turning for hours. Finally drifted off around 3am to then be woken at 4.30am by some bloke on the public footpath that runs by our house, singing loudly to Sitting on the Dock of the Bay and then yelling Happy New Year! at the top of his voice. Fucking arsehole.

DH then got up for work at 5. I'm so tired I could cry but at least I can WFH today...

Me three. I really dislike my job, but it's very flexible and fairly well-paid for where we live, so I feel quite stuck too.

MargaretThursday · 02/01/2024 07:14

I put myself out with sleeping tablets.
It had the downside of being woken by dh snoring at 6am. He's not even stopped after I poked him onto his front which is unusual.

CuntRYMusicStar · 02/01/2024 07:27

I have Tozo a1 mini ear buds and listen to sleep cove podcasts. I very rarely finish even one episode, no matter how much my brain was whirring.

At the moment I'm 'listening' to Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle episode.

Pukka nighttime tea helps me unwind.

I've had bad insomnia for years but the sleep cove podcasts really help.

mrskimsneakattack · 02/01/2024 07:35

Managed about 4 hours I think. Wide awake until about 1ish, then DH was up at 5 to go to the gym and woke me up.

I'm not even consciously bothered about today, I WFH and checked my emails and diary yesterday and it looks like I'll have a fairly gentle start to the week. It must just be a subconscious thing!

MadCatLady27 · 02/01/2024 07:50

Yep my brain instantly started thinking about something as soon as I tried to go to sleep, my arm ached too so couldn't get comfy

Slept beautifully while off, with many nice lie ins

Alarm this morning was a killer 😞

CissOff · 02/01/2024 07:59

I managed a few restless hours between 2.30 and 7am 😩

Thankfully I’m WFH today and have a busy calendar so not much time to think about how tired I am.

I’d love to know why it happens - I really enjoy my job so it’s not the Sunday Scaries. I’ve been sleeping like a dream over Christmas too - 8-10hrs a night 😔

BringMeTea · 02/01/2024 10:42

Yes. Always and forever. Sucks.

Rafting2022 · 02/01/2024 20:27

Today was awful, I was so tired I felt sick. Hope everyone survived ok. If it makes you feel any better almost everyone I spoke to today (customers, colleagues, suppliers) had the same issue last night.

Trying not to get the fear that I don’t sleep again tonight…
