What's the worst scar you've got, from an operation or accident?

I have the C-Section scar which isn't so bad, can still see it but not too much.

And you?

I was in a car accident in may, I've a scar of my forearm about 3 inches long. Also have a 19 year old c-section scar but you can barely see it now.

EspressoMacchiato · 01/01/2024 18:57

I lost 8 stone and had skin removal.

I have three massive scars. Hip to hip across my belly, breastbone to pubic bone and side boob to side boob across my back.

The weight of the skin was giving me such bad pain that I didn’t care about the scars, at all. They’re faded to silver but you can still see them and I couldn’t care less!

DramaAlpaca · 01/01/2024 19:03

I only have a tiny one on my wrist where the dog pulled me into a gatepost and took a chunk of skin out. That and a couple of almost unnoticeable chicken pox scars. Oh, and one from having a mole on my arm removed. So nothing significant at all really.

JustanotherMNSlapperTwat · 01/01/2024 19:03

Not quite the same thing as mine was a trivial scar but:

I was holding a cat as a teenager and it got startled by someone slamming the doors and jumped out of my arms scratching me as it went

The scratches were quite deep on one arm across the wrist and I scar easily so they scarred and the scars really stood out

So I spent my teenage years with teachers and other adults eyeing up my wrist scars suspiciously obviously trying to work out if they should be concerned about self harm or suicide attempts

My cat scratched me never sounded like anything other than a pathetic excuse either!

@EspressoMacchiato

8 stone? That is amazing! Congrats!

I have a scar on my nose where a wooden ornament (a deer) landed on me from a bookshelf when I was 3yo.
I say a deer gored me... totally true, except it's about 8" tall, and it broke its antler too.
I don't remember it being painful. I remember lots of blood and screaming the place down... and then realising that I could play this for lots of sympathy, which I then did. 😂

Tbf no one notices the scar unless I point it out, but it's quite deep and about 1/2" long.

I've also a longer one but only as a white line, so no indent, where I knocked a knife off the side as a student and stupidly caught the knife rather than let it fall. Reflex reactions aren't always a good thing.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/01/2024 19:22

I have two c-section scars which have faded to silvery lines now.

I also have a scar on my upper right arm which was caused by an accidental injury during surgery. It's about 3 inches long, but is mostly on the inside of the arm, so you can't see the extent of it from the front. It's still quite dark as it's only 6 months' old. I think it'll eventually fade to white, but will remain a couple of mm thick, so will be noticeable. I had plastic surgery to neaten it, but with the best will in the world, it's not going to fade like a neat incision's scar would. I'm not arsed by it though.

menopausalmare · 01/01/2024 19:24

One of the benefits of getting older is that you're less bendy and get a tummy roll so the episiotomy scar and C-section scar are only in my memory now😬

EspressoMacchiato · 01/01/2024 19:25

Thank you @Theearthisntflat

Remagirl · 01/01/2024 19:48

10 inch scar down front of knee from surgery. Also got C-section scar. Not bothered by either x

Elderflower14 · 01/01/2024 19:50

My scar was from twelve years ago yesterday....
Took Bdog down the footpath into the wood. He saw a muntjac deer and charged forward catching the lead in a barbed wire fence. I was stuck as if I pulled and the lead snapped Bdog would be gone. I was ringing my friend to come and help when a very no nonsense lady came down the path. "Hold the dog and I'll release the lead."
She did and Bumble leapt foward ripping my arm on the barbed wire.
I dripped blood all the way home, Wilf is terrified of blood due to his autism. He saw me coming came to the door opened it and announced that he didn't do blood and told me to go to my friend and shut the door!!

CMOTDibbler · 01/01/2024 19:55

I have an assortment of massive surgical scars from just above the knuckle to 3" above my elbow. Some have comedy stitch scars as well due to the extreme swelling at the time, and one is very wide as it became a keloid. There are scars on the other side of my arm too. It's not a great look, and some people are very rude about them

ArchetypalBusyMum · 01/01/2024 19:56

I had my shin flesh ripped off by a rogue motorbike driver, and had to have a skin graft to heal it, though I still lost a fair bit of substance to the leg... I look like a shark has tried to have my leg off of course I may encourage this idea which always impresses the kids. 😁 I'm lucky it didn't give me serious long term problems with walking or anything.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 01/01/2024 19:57

Like @JustanotherMNSlapperTwat I have a lovely cat inflicted scar. It runs length way down my forearm then where it ends another goes horizontally across. Just bad luck holding a cat that spooked.

Icelandic9 · 01/01/2024 19:59

I have a 10 year boob scar from where a large lump was removed. The scar is still really noticeable and has an obvious dent under it from where the lump was 😑

This is incredible. Well done. I will also need exactly what you mentioned, once all of my weight has gone. Can I ask how much you paid for skin removal please?

Atethehalloweenchocs · 01/01/2024 20:14

Tripped and landed on my face - have a scar on my upper lip where tooth went through it, but worse, a patch under my nose where the pigment never seems to come back - I think it makes it look like I have permanent booger.

MrsCarson · 01/01/2024 20:18

One on my neck, from surgery as a child. Now I'm aging it looks more like a wrinkle.
c-section still scarred

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 01/01/2024 20:22

Not me, but dsis. Messy Y-scar for 2 new livers, followed by untidy attempts to patch up an aortic aneurysm. Her scars were SPECTACULAR. She always wore a bikini on the beach as she felt proud of them. They saved her life.

Dd (now 23) has a scar from her hairline to her eyebrow acquired at the age of 2. She was wildly indignant when she was in her early teens and it was airbrushed out of her school photo.

Me, I have a couple of acne scars!

SusanSHelit · 01/01/2024 20:32

I have a tiny scar on the back of each hand from cannulas when I had ds. He's ten now and they're still reasonably visible. So much so that when I needed iv fluids recently I told the Dr dot marks the spot as I'm very tricky to cannulate /get blood out of.

I have a couple more scars on my hand/wrist from yet another unhappy cat. This one needed bathing though as she was an outdoor cat and had managed to get engine oil all over her back from a neighbours dodgy car.

I have another tiny scar on my bottom lip that is a perfect x shape, but absolutely no idea how or why or when it appeared.

Have a horrible perineal scar from childbirth that causes me no end of grief, again ten years old and still quite angry. It turned into a raised keliod and I have to be so fastidious but also super gentle keeping clean or it gets very itchy /sore which can be very embarrassing.
Have inquired about a revision but would have to go private and really don't have the pennines.

I do seem to scar quite easily but have been lucky enough to not be injured very badly ever really.

ZZGirl · 01/01/2024 20:38

Breast reduction scars so under both breaststroke towards thr armpit, around the nipple and down the middle

Petrine · 01/01/2024 20:40

I have a hysterectomy scar low down so I suppose like a C section scar. I also have 2 scars parallel to my hip bones where metalwork was inserted when I fractured my pelvis. As well as those I have a long scar from my wrist upward due to metal fixings to an arm fracture.

Daniagainagainagain · 01/01/2024 20:41

NC as I've posted before with this but here's mine!

Diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma (asbestos cancer) at age 23.

I now have a C section scar at the bottom of it so I look a little like the anti christ and I'm probably having my thyroid out soon so I'll look like a capital i but here we are!

Petrine · 01/01/2024 20:44

Good grief! That’s one huge scar @Daniagainagainagain .

Has it healed well?

SinnerBoy · 01/01/2024 21:26

NC as I've posted before with this but here's mine!

Goodness! How did you contract mesothelioma and at such a young age?
