How long until bin day and how full is your bin?

Tuesday for us!

Been jumped on twice but I fear I have got as much as I can in it.

The recycling bin isn't until Monday 8th and that is almost full too.

We were lucky, our recycling bin went missing and I requested a new one; it arrived a couple of hours before the original one reappeared. So we have two, and between us and a few neighbours we’ve used the spare one for all the wrapping paper and Xmas packaging.

Our regular waste wheelie bin (emptied once a fortnight) never gets more than half full.

ErrolTheRednosedDragon · 28/12/2023 18:49

Tomorrow is the glass/plastics/cans bin day, it's nowhere near full so I won't put it out. No brown bin collection till the end of January which is annoying as there's an extra charge for it and there's loads of Ivy etc I need to prune before spring.

Black general bin next Friday, it's only got one bag in it at the moment

ForeverWinter · 28/12/2023 18:52

We don't have a black bin, we have weekly rubbish collection so we just put the bags out each week, we can put out as many bags as we want so all the Christmas rubbish will go out tomorrow

Blue will be collected tomorrow (should be today)

starynightskys · 28/12/2023 19:00

Mine was today not even full.

aintnospringchicken · 28/12/2023 19:04

Recycle bin is almost full and will be collected tomorrow.

Mirrormeback · 28/12/2023 19:07

No idea

Bin is only 3/4 full and bin outside has loads of space

Anjo2011 · 28/12/2023 19:11

Recycling gets collected tomorrow, it’s full up and I have some extra cardboard to go as well. My parents took some with them Christmas Day as well to put in their bin. Normal household bin is another week and it’s half full, should be ok though.

Rocksonabeach · 28/12/2023 19:15

Black waste bin - empty and it has a week and a day to go- can’t see anything being in it

compost - one day to go and large bag in it but only as we don’t tend to use garden compost bin in winter

recycling - both boxes totally full and being jumped on - collected Saturday

that normally it for us the same as normal weeks recycling is a nightmare as it is totally full, but no actual waste out. But we recycle everything - eg collect soft plastics separated for Tesco, batteries to Tesco, Pringle tubs to community recycling, metal, even Metal foil tablet packets - have a huge drawer thing in the utility room and everything gets put in the drawer until it is full eg stamps, tablet packets, batteries etc

our local recycling is pretty crap really though I miss my giant recycling wheelie bin - we have two tubs and one tub you can only put cardboard and glass in and one for plastics and bottles.

Terfosaurus · 28/12/2023 19:15

Recycling bin was emptied today but the bin men managed to drop about 10 things so they are back in it.

Rubbish bin is packed plus has about 6 black bags next to it. Won't be done until Tuesday. We've been having a clear out, hence so many bags. Although they missed my bin 3 weeks ago, then last week it was so tightly packed that half the bags were still in it.

gamerchick · 28/12/2023 19:16

Dunno they're on strike over Christmas. It's fun

iwishiwasonhol · 28/12/2023 19:20

Local binmen on strike this week ,so its normal recycling collection next wed 3rd (full cant anything else in )and then main rubbish bin 10th of jan so it will be four weeks since the main one was collected, i can possibly fit 2 more bags in at a push i dont drive so cant get to the tip but there is no slots available anyway

ActuallyChristmas · 28/12/2023 19:26

General refuse bin emptied yesterday, just one day later than usual. My trainers developed a hole in the bottom, so they went in too.

We have 2 recycling bins. Weirdly, the food and garden waste bin isn’t being emptied next week but the paper, glass, cardboard one is. I’ve not fully filled it yet and have been putting dry paper waste in a box in the shed. I will put in what fits. I’m guessing most paper and glass bins will be full. Gives me the ick that the food and garden waste has to wait until circa 19 Jan

Jingleballs23 · 28/12/2023 19:29

Bin is overflowing and I've had to stack bags by the side of it! Bin collection is out by three days and I absolutely cannot store any of it inside. Recycling bin is also overflowing. Neither bin now closes and the rubbish is soaking wet.

Bloody council.

MsMaraschino · 28/12/2023 19:30

Saturday for the recycling - bins are full to bursting, with more in the house. Household won’t be collected until after new year, but that should be ok.
We did a big clean and sort out before Xmas, so had loads of recycling even before the presents and wrapping. And we hosted for 10 people for six days.

AnneElliott · 28/12/2023 19:31

Rubbish and cardboard was collected on Wednesday. Bottles and plastic are next week.

AuntieMarys · 28/12/2023 19:31

Tomorrow...we have 2 green bins but only one is full

baileybrosbuildingandloan · 28/12/2023 19:32

All normal recycling tomorrow and rubbish next Tuesday 😊

greekeconomist · 28/12/2023 19:35

My inside bins are almost full but the communal bins are beyond ridiculous overflowing so they are blowing all over. Surely it wouldn't have killed people not to make it worse but clearly my neighbours are thick.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 28/12/2023 19:36

Recycling was emptied yesterday instead of Tuesday and normal bin will be done Tuesday coming... Really surprised actually as in my city the Bin Men tend to go on strike over xmas. This is the first year in about 5 that they haven't... but it's coming!!

WotNoUserName · 28/12/2023 19:38

Tuesday 2nd for both general waste and recycling. Our day is normally Monday, so they collected the general waste early on Saturday 23rd. Recycling is every 2 weeks. The bins aren't that full, thankfully. Although there are 6 of us we are all adults so there weren't tons of huge presents.

OldTinHat · 28/12/2023 19:52

Recycling due tomorrow and have to admit to chuckling at a neighbour climbing into his bin this morning to try and squish it down, then jumping on boxes to flatten them to add to the already bulging bin, throwing a bin bag of bottles in the normal bin then getting some bricks to weigh down the recycling bin lid!

Mine is full of cardboard otherwise I would have offered some space in mine.

chattyness · 28/12/2023 19:56

ours was today for recycling and it was chock full, but we didn't bother putting it out two weeks ago as it was only half full then

PurpleBugz · 28/12/2023 20:02

Dunno when it's being collected was supposed to be today but it's not gone. It's full. I have a bag ready to go in as soon as it's emptied. Its would not have been full but I asked ex to drag the bin 2 meters down my drive when he dropped child home on the last bin day and he said yeah sure then didn't bother

daffodilandtulip · 28/12/2023 20:12

Ours are just missing two weeks, so 4 weeks between each. Also bankrupt council.

BashfulClam · 28/12/2023 20:19

Our main bin has moved to 3 weeks between emptying. It’s not going to get emptied until 7th January…it’s at the top, I reckon with some squishing we could get another bag in….MIL wanted us to put her old hoover in our bin???? Too much hassle to take it to the tip apparently I think she thinks we have a skip rather than a normal bin on a three week collection cycle.
