Watched it last night and couldn't work out what I was supposed to be getting offended by. (Mrs Doyle falling off the windowsill is still one of the greatest comedy moments btw.)

It's the golden cleric one with Fr Todd Unctuous isn't it? Mrs D says Hiroshima as one of her name guesses. Not sure that's enough tho.

But Hiroshima in itself is just a city. Of course, people know it mainly for its horrific part in 20th century history, but it is now also a thriving modern-day city in its own right.

There's another thread currently running, asking where people's nearest city is, and somebody said Dresden and nothing more, which was all that was needed as a fit response to the question.

He did kick me up the arse!!! It's almost got to the point where I can't watch anymore. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It never gets old.

Perhaps I like the misery!

There was a thread about this a year ago!

There were a couple of suggestions, but nothing really concrete.

Sadly, I think the most likely thing is the fact that Glinner's name is in the credits, and they want to pander to those who favour ad hominem hatred rather than taking any kind of genuine offence.

This was my thoughts on it too

EmmaEmerald · 27/12/2023 23:54

Wait, wut? Smoking has content warnings now? WTAF.

Sometimeswinning · 28/12/2023 00:01

Have you read mumsnet? People were outraged by feed the world recently. Some people need a warning to actually get through life. They can’t possibly think fuck this it’s not my thing.

RJnomore1 · 28/12/2023 00:04

Surely it’s gathered Jack teaching the toddlers in the creche to say feck and arse?

ffs! Father ….

Wait, wut? Smoking has content warnings now? WTAF.

There's probably a bowdlerised version of the famous Winston Churchill photo out there somewhere, with the cigar replaced by a kazoo!

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 28/12/2023 00:23

Maybe the content warning was added in error by some fuppin' eejit on their first day in the job?!

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 28/12/2023 00:51

Have been scratching my head wondering who this Glinner guy was, I always thought it was Graham Linehan wrote this show! Googled and turns out it's him. How come you all call him that?

Can't understand the warning, the show by its nature takes the piss put of Catholic priests and rural Ireland but I can't see anyone being offended by it.

GellerYeller · 28/12/2023 01:06

@Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong isn't Glinner his Twitter name?

Sp1ke3 · 28/12/2023 01:08

Is it for the violence to the tea machine?

Toseland · 28/12/2023 01:16

Apparantly Graham Linehan has written Father Ted stage show which was ready to go and has been stopped by HatTrick productions as they disagree with Graham's stance on women, children and LGB rights. I'd love to see it. #FreeFatherTed

GellerYeller · 28/12/2023 01:17

@Sp1ke3 😂
If you downloaded the episodes from Sky some state ‘contains mildly upsetting language’. Feck?!

iklboo · 28/12/2023 01:18

We're not allowed to find anything funny anymore.

GellerYeller · 28/12/2023 01:21

My kids love Father Ted. Their (very staunchly catholic) great gran loved it too.

FestiveFruitloop · 28/12/2023 02:24

Ridiculous, isn't it? They're all up there together, aren't they: Quentin Tarantino, Irvine Welsh, Ronnie Corbett...

😂😂

Incongruance · 28/12/2023 02:31

It is because Graham has been cancelled due to his standing up for the rights of women and the safeguarding of children. That makes certain people feel unsafe.
He did an excellent interview on Triggernometry (you tube video) a few days ago that explains everything.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 28/12/2023 17:08

Still pondering this...and I don't think its cos of Linehan. If a writer or actor is blacklisted by the moral police for whatever reason, the usual approach is they are cancelled not broadcast with a warning. The warning would have no relevance unless the content of the show reflects the writers controversial view, which is not the case here.

lljkk · 28/12/2023 17:18

Just ask BBC Why, on Twitter?

LakeTiticaca · 28/12/2023 17:23

Probably a trigger warning that it may cause laughter, something which is sadly lacking in most present day "comedy shows"

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/12/2023 17:27

lljkk · 28/12/2023 17:18

Just ask BBC Why, on Twitter?

It's on Channel 4.

MrsJellybee · 28/12/2023 17:47

I can’t think of anything in the Christmas special that would warrant a warning. I know they always put one before the episode where the rival clergy are dressed as The Three Degrees complete with ‘Blackface’.

MaidOfSteel · 28/12/2023 17:53

I wss watching some 'Best of Saint & Greavesie' (remember them?!) shows on one of the ITV channels last week and they had a content warning about the humour! ⚠️

We're being nannied. I'm sick of it.

starynightskys · 28/12/2023 18:16
