I was married to King Julian - AMA

So my ex husband decided to send my parents matching pyjamas with his face printed all over as a Christmas present. Yesterday morning I got up and my parents were indeed wearing the horrible things and all I could see was his face everywhere.
For context: we remained very good friends so there are no hard feelings, but it was still a surreal experience.

Any other Mumsnetters with King Julians out there or am I the only one?

No idea who king Julian is either. Maybe from Shrek?? But this sounds so funny 😂 If you were on bad terms that would be massively disturbing but as you’re not, and your parents wore your ex husbands face…… hahahaa!

Sounds more than a little self absorbed but clearly he had a charm that your parents still are under and caused you to marry him.

I presumed King Julian was from Madagascar.

Oh he was alright to live with but definitely thought highly of himself. How could I forget the day when he tried on clothes in a shop and proclaimed that he would look even better when combining them with other shoes he had at home, and he couldn’t understand why both the shop assistant and I had to laugh.
He definitely managed to make my whole family laugh this year.

It’s very odd that they’re still wearing them but I assume they’re comfy and they enjoy matching at Xmas.

Why would it be sad for the parents to wear the pyjamas? Clearly they all got a laugh out of it and the chap has a good sense of humour.
