So my ex husband decided to send my parents matching pyjamas with his face printed all over as a Christmas present. Yesterday morning I got up and my parents were indeed wearing the horrible things and all I could see was his face everywhere.
For context: we remained very good friends so there are no hard feelings, but it was still a surreal experience.

Any other Mumsnetters with King Julians out there or am I the only one?

How tiring and puerile. I suppose some people really do think they are so hilarious that they can't help themselves.

My xH definitely has Julianesque tendencies. Kept every single menu, conference agenda, name badge etc. from every work event he has ever been invited to; every article he ever wrote, his old scout and cub shirts, school jumpers and so on. All neatly stored in a huge box which he kept in the cupboard behind our bed ready for when English Heritage wants to make a shrine dedicated to his glory. Wouldn’t have bothered me too much except everyone else was encouraged to throw as much stuff out as possible…

My STBXH does the same. Also while insisting that anyone else who keeps unnecessary shite from years ago is a dreadful hoarder.

He also cannot have any discussion about anything without bringing it back to himself.

For example:
‘DS is quite grumpy today. He needs a nap’
’Well I get grumpy when I’m tired. He must be like me’

’There is a job coming up in my department and my manager wants me to apply’
’Well I won’t be getting promoted any time soon. My career is stalling because I’m too lazy to work harder.’

‘Sarah is going to Switzerland for work next week’
’I could have had a job in Switzerland if I wanted to’.

Magnify that up to every comment or conversation topic having to come back to being about STBXH and it’s tedious and exhausting.

He’s not funny enough to make pyjamas with an unflattering photo of his face all over them. Not least because he thinks he’s stunningly gorgeous.
