Can't unfreeze bank card

Shithole101 · 26/12/2023 15:52

I'm with Halifax. I had to freeze online purchases because my younger kids were using it to buy games . It said that i can remove the freeze at any time which I have several times . It's literally just a swipe . But it won't let me take it of. So I can't pay for things on line which means I can't do my children's room up as I can't get the stuff.

Just wondering if its hapoend to others. I'm wondering if I have taken the freezer on and off to many times. It does not say there is a limit

Give Halifax a ring, they are open til 8pm tonight.

Ask them about the Google Pay/Play transactions. They should be able to explain what they are and how to stop them.

I'm not being unkind, just to be clear.

I know you are totally overwhelmed with tidying the house etc amongst other things and I didn't stop to think that this was a one off kinda thing

I also genuinely was making the suggestion that some additional support might be of benefit to you

I apologise if I took it the wrong way or misunderstood.

The thing is people have made many many assumptions or misunderstood my situation. (Some) people have been very spiteful twisted things tried to tare me down When I have been trying to build myself up .

So when someone comes along to a thread over confusion with a bank card/freeze situation and brings up my other struggles I feel suspicious of that .

If your up to scratch with my situation then you will know its very complicated and that I have explained outside help situation on several occasions.

As I said im sorry if I misunderstood/ took it the wrong way.

Yes sorry - I was trying to be concerned but didn't explain that well at all!

💐. I'm just trying my best to build myself up . There will be threads where I say omg I have had enough i can't take anymore etc . Because I have had years and years of struggles. So i I think that's normal for me. But as long as I can dust myself down and carry on as long as I'm going in the right direction that's all that matters.

Cancelling the card & ordering a new one won't stop those payments. You'll need to make sure you contact whoever was taking payments for the games & cancel continuous payment authority with them

Yes it will stop the payments. The money is being paid with the card, not taken directly from her account.

femfemlicious · 26/12/2023 18:55

The children are ordering things with the card details saved on the Account. Cancelling the card meand the card won't work!

I can sort all that tomorrow. I actually just wanted to unfreeze my card at the moment. I think that's going to have to be sorted tomorrow as well to be honest

Tried to unfreeze my Halifax online just now to pay for airline tickets - won’t let me, just keeps sliding back over to freeze. I freeze and unfreeze regularly so no idea what’s going on.

ny20005 · 26/12/2023 19:22

@femfemlicious

It won't. Once the new card number is produced, this will update to many of the existing payees & they'll continue to take CPA's from the new card

Nacnud67 · 26/12/2023 19:48

I’m not due a new card - none of the manage card freeze options are working not just online payments . I froze and unfroze it this morning all fine.

I would call the bank, and go to youtube for tutorials on how to control purchases on games. I get that you want to be able to use it sometimes but not let DS accidentally use it anytime. It can be overwhelming to keep track of how it works. I use youtube for anything I can't figure out.

You’re welcome 😊

Tbh they probably should lock the function if it's something being used daily or more. Then a message to contact them to just check all is OK. Its designed for one off oops I've misplaced my card situations

Nacnud67 · 27/12/2023 07:19

There is a separate specific freeze function for I’ve lost / misplaced my card.
It seemed to be a temp glitch as a couple of other people I spoke to had the same malfunction.
I used it specifically over Christmas as there has been a high rate of cloning for online - so turned it in and off after I made purchase’s just to be sure.
but again seemed like a temp glitch in the Halifax matrix last night.
All good in the world again
