Can't unfreeze bank card

I'm with Halifax. I had to freeze online purchases because my younger kids were using it to buy games . It said that i can remove the freeze at any time which I have several times . It's literally just a swipe . But it won't let me take it of. So I can't pay for things on line which means I can't do my children's room up as I can't get the stuff.

Just wondering if its hapoend to others. I'm wondering if I have taken the freezer on and off to many times. It does not say there is a limit

Go into the Play store and into settings, into Family and then onto Parental controls. You can then set a PIN for purchases

Did you freeze the card to try and stop payments being taken that your son had already made?

I did this and it said about a pin? I set that up and it still allowed the payments to happen so I'm messing up some how .

What games are they making payments on? Is it definitely from the Play store?

No because I figure there's nothing I can do about things already done .

I went on to Halifax. And it gives me an option to freeze online purchases. So I done that. So every time I want to buy something on line. I go to Halifax app. Unfreeze it. Then quickly pay for what I have bought on line. Go back to Halifax then freeze it again. I have done it quite a bit over past few days so I don't know if I have triggered something. Al though it is still letting me transfer payments

I think I may have sorted out the play store situation. When I go on my bank app there's a bit that says Google pay . And it asks me if I want to set up a payment. So I guess that means I don't have one.

The problem is unfreezing my card. I think I will have to contact them tomorrow

Are you receiving any outside help?

I only ask as you have many threads in this vein where it's clear you perhaps struggle to cope with parenting and household cleaning etc

It may benefit you to explore whether help is available to you

play and google pay interchangeably - might be typos but they are different things remember!

Are they oh.. I don't know what I'm talking about . I just know I need to stop my card being linked with what ever one /s it is and making payments. I'm basically going to need to calm the bank . Its the fact I can't unfreeze my card that's annoying at the moment

It does not matter how much I post how many threads i make . This is a thread to help me unfreeze my card . I thought maybe I was doing something daft or had not understood something. Maybe it happend to someone else and was simple to sort of.

This thread does not need to be made into something deep .

Google play is the app you use to buy games on consoles/phones. You normally have a card linked to the app to buy games/make in game purchases.

Google pay (now called google wallet now i think) lets you set up cards so you can pay for goods online and in shops without your bank card so isn't just limited to the purchases for the play store.

@RolyPolyBatFacedGirl was being kind by asking if you have support.

I hardly think anyone's making it into something deep, they are just rightly and fairly observing you have a lot of these issues and are nicely asking what sort of practical help you could get?

I'd give them a call and ask them to talk you through unfreezing.

I always freeze on phone app if I can't find my card. No idea about Google play though, sorry

Cancelling the card & ordering a new one won't stop those payments. You'll need to make sure you contact whoever was taking payments for the games & cancel continuous payment authority with them

I read it as being concerned, I don't know about any past threads but this one does suggest that if you had someone in hand to help the problem could be sorted out

It isn't ealways asy to explain something in writing when you aren't entirely sure what the problem is.

I'm not being unkind, just to be clear.

I know you are totally overwhelmed with tidying the house etc amongst other things and I didn't stop to think that this was a one off kinda thing

I also genuinely was making the suggestion that some additional support might be of benefit to you

You seem to be somewhat confused about bank cards and Google p(l)ay accounts, and are panicking. Can you (a) talk to Halifax in the morning, and (b) leave whatever you are trying to do till a later date and seek help on how to learn about financial management - perhaps via Moneysavingexpert and/or the Citizens' Advice Bureau?

To me getting to grips with financial management seems more vital than refurbishing your children's rooms.
