Eyelash extensions - fallen in love 😭 worth the expense?

KinderEggg · 26/12/2023 10:12

I got eyelash extensions for my holiday which I am on - and omg I love them. I hardly need any make up and my eye bags don’t look prominent.

In pics, I look like I have eyeliner on too (which I don’t and hate doing).

I wish they weren’t so expensive and had to re-do them every 3 weeks.

Anyone else have them and think it’s worth the expense?

They always fall out on me by the next day. I've had them done many different places so it's not as if I got a dodgy eyelash tech. My eyes just don't like them.

justalittlesnoel · 26/12/2023 10:24

I used to absolutely love them and would 100% say they're worth the money! I can't have them currently because I'm on a picking phase 😂 but would always say they're worth it, they made me feel so put together and I loved them.

Sticking foreign objects onto your eyes, just like having injections of chemicals into your face for reasons of vanity is not a good idea. Doing it on holiday is even more risky, there are probably zero / minimal health controls in those places.

Your choice your body, but having had blephoritis just from using mascara over the years has taught me that the less you bugger about with your body the better.

i don't have a clue how much it costs but it wouldn't be worth the risk, no.

Op doesn’t say she’s had them done during the hols but for the hols

I had them last year done for first time and loved it. I did stop for a few months as have hayfever so didn’t want to waste my money as i rub my eyes a lot

LaahDeeDah · 26/12/2023 10:29

They will make your actual eyelashes fall out of you don't have breaks in-between

KinderEggg · 26/12/2023 10:34

I had them done in the UK for my holiday.

i hardly have any eyelashes. They are straight and short. I have tried every serum and nothing makes a difference to them except extensions.

Even my husband loves them.

It’s like I have nothing on. No itchiness or nothing which has surprised me. I’ve had them for over a week now and they are still full.

Absolutely worth the money! I've had mine for 5 years and had then off for a break and no damage to my natural lash! My lash lady is amazing

NigelHarmansNewWife · 26/12/2023 10:37

Try a lash lift and tint instead?

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 26/12/2023 10:37

Every 3/4 weeks here and it’s literally the last thing I’d ever give up. I love them.

DecafOatMilkCappucino · 26/12/2023 10:39

What type did you have op? I'm tempted by them then I see some that are so heavy and uncomfortable looking and make the wearer look like they are always on the verge of tears.

NotmySundaybest · 26/12/2023 10:42

Just had mine done again after having a break.
They are absolutely addictive. Love getting them done, unlike when I get nails done which is a bit boring & chore like.

They don't if you are careful, I had them on for a long period. You lose eyelashes anyway.

I went for the natural set. Feels like I’ve got nothing on.
i love when I wake up and look in the mirror and see how I look.
They are addictive 😩

Love them haven't had them in years though. First got them for my wedding in 2010 and I loved them so much I got them for years. You will need breaks inbetween because no matter what people say about getting them done by a good tech your natural lashes will suffer still. I went to very good techs over the years. I started with classics, then Russians but my favourite a mix of both. I don't like the full on silly glam look, but just like a really good mascara.
If I had the cash I would deffo do it. You're right they make such a diff to your eyes and face overall. I know have those ones that last 7 days but I can't get them on right!

I had this done and hated it to the point I cut my own eyelashes

ribinron · 26/12/2023 12:48

How much did they cost?

I've been wondering whether a few strands, for a subtle look, might be nice. Put off by the horror stories of my own lashes falling out or the false lashes themselves dropping out at random.

Fantina · 26/12/2023 12:55

@EasterIssland What didn’t you like about them?

janfebmarchapril · 26/12/2023 13:01

Instead of infills I'd get a new full set every 6 weeks which worked out cheaper. I loved them and really miss them but they battered my eyelashes

Twattergy · 26/12/2023 13:06

They do look great, I love the look of them. However even with very well applied lashes they literally remove all of my real lashes. That take ages to grow back, so I've not had falsies in a long time and focussed on getting my real lashes back thicker.

SquashPenguin · 26/12/2023 13:08

They ruined my natural lashes and I only had them on once. Took months to grow back.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 26/12/2023 13:08

Well that's an extreme reaction

PlantsFallLikeDominoes · 26/12/2023 13:08

YANBU I get classics done every 3 weeks, I love them.

Thekormachameleon · 26/12/2023 13:11

I do my own with the lashes from tattj lashes
Takes about 20 minutes to do a full set and best bit is if you lose the odd one, you can just replace it

Rosiiee · 26/12/2023 13:22

I love lash extensions. I’ve only had them done twice though as I found that they damaged my real lashes. It took me a while to grow my lashes back and now I’m too scared to get extensions again but I loved having them!
BUT I hate the big fake extra thick and long extensions! I much prefer something low-key and natural!

TitaniasAss · 26/12/2023 13:34

Can we see a pic of your eyes OP, if you don't mind? I'm seriously considering this but want something really natural and completely unsure!
